We are now in the position where keeping JF1 is the only rational move. Never liked the idea of turning the keys to the offense over to a rookie in the first place. But now with so many top talent offensive weapons their production would bottom out for at least a half a season while the rookie QB learns the ropes. We have draft picks to bolster the offensive line, likely the #9 pick. A team desperate for a QB or for a particular QB will trade up for that #1. We pick MHJr or another top WR with the #2, #3, #4, etc. and all of a sudden the departure of either DJ Moore and K Allen next year is less of a train wreck. I'm very pleased. JF1 will prove all those doubters wrong. MVP! MVP!
If Ryan decided to pick Caleb I'll still back the Bears, but in truth it wouldn't make sense to me with the salary cap shrinking and only 4 picks. Ryan said he wants to build his team through the draft so I'm sure right now he's trying to see what are the best offers for the #1 and #9 pick. When Ryan said he wanted to do right by Justin Fields I believe this is what he had in mind. With all the media disrespect he been receiving I hope he rocks out with the offensive upgrades, and shove that humble pie right in their face! BEARDOWN!
This is definitely a win-now move. The paying an old guy an extension part doesn't matter that much due to how little you gave up for him... If you let Allen walk after a year, you're going to get a comp pick that'll pretty much replace what you traded for him.
Poles said when hired.. He will build this team through the draft.. Now Poles needs more draft capital. This year's number one pick will yield more than last years number one (in theory)..
Trade the 1st pick and draft MHJ. That would make for the BEST WR Trio in the NFL and they have a very solid TE duo. Keep Justin and build a juggernaut.

Keenan Allen will get paid for one more year on expiring contract. Trade down to draft MHJ makes perfect sense. Next year the money that went to Allen will absolutely go to Fields if he makes great improvent in his QB play with all is new weapons. If not the extra #1 in the trade down will go to drafting a qb absolutey and then you can reset the QB clock.
