From what I heard in the past is Deoxit is safer for the nearby plastic parts compared to other types of contact cleaners. I also use Deoxit on my Hammond M-143 drawbars.
Thanks for posting. I was able to get the drawbars on my RT-3 good as new in just a short time.I want to add that it wasn't necessary for me to remove the top, since the RT-3 has a slightly taller console and it was possible to get over the top of the preset panel to squirt down the drawbars behind it. Might not be necessary to remove the tops on other large models.
Yeah...I did a complete crappy A100 drawbar removal and took 'em all apart, soaked 'em, & put 'em back together. They felt like new, and still sounded pretty good too.
Question... I have a 1958 B3 and while the drawbars are NOT intermittent, if I adjust them while playing I do hear some faint noise. A related question... are the drawbars infinitely variable from 0 to 8 or ARE there actual click stops for each level? It sort of sounds like I am hearing the faint noise as if it is moving from one level to the next.
nice job good guys! i know i'm too old myself to feel sad about 'dead' stuff of the past as i'm going to be one of them myself probably in the next few years ... but seeing some great marvels of art and technology going extinct makes even more sad really! however, seeing some caring people from the younger generations taking these things seriously thus being the 'keepers' gives me a good feeling after all no matter how full of tears my eyes may happen to be when typing these famous last words ... ;-)
@@dspiffy yeah ... ain't that just so?! in fact, if someone doesn't like the 'magic of Hammond' organs, i believe they don't understand what an organ is, ANY type of organ i mean! i just wish someone could revive the old-fashioned way of making Hammond organs just like the good old electro-mechanical days ... digital is OK, and has its own advantages surely, but 'analog' is something else! :-) we simply need both!
Would Johnsen's Electronic Cleaner be an acceptable substitute for DeOxit? I have an E-111 that needs the drwawbars cleaned and it's what I have on hand. The label says harmless to most plastics but I just want to make sure. The nearest Guitar Center is about an hour away and I'd sure like to avoid driving all the way there just for contact cleaner. Thanks.
It's a cleaner, so it may not deal with oxidation the same way deoxit does, but it wont hurt anything. You can try it. You can also order deoxit online
@@dspiffy I’m trying to bring my Hammond bv back to life just had it tuned it sounds so amazing with good deep bass I’m now trying to maintain it I bought a lot of missing parts like knobs for draw bars Leslie switch and vibrato can you sho me how to apply that stuff
Great video. I just picked up a A100 recently and after watching your video the drawbars work great. Maybe you can give advise. The #1 reverb doesn't work. I've cleaned the rca to the spring reverb but still doesn't work and also I don't notice any difference for the Tremolo switches (chorus) ect but maybe because I'm using the internal speakers it isn't showing it off Any advise for any of these issues is greatly appreciated.
Hey Dan I just purchased a CV console that hasn't been run in decades. Long story short I was wondering if you knew if there is any way I can troubleshoot to see if my run motor is bad or not. After oiling for a few weeks now my start motor is turning the tone generator, however I don't think up to normal speed and it is still making some noise but as soon as I flip on my run switch and hold both switches for a few seconds when I let go of my start switch everything just Fizzles out. I know my run switch is good because my tubes are firing but I just don't know if my run motor is working. If I just turn on my run switch I hear no hum nor do I feel any vibration coming from the Run motor. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thank you
@@dspiffy Thanks Dan. But, on my B3, looking from behind the drawbar assy, I can get the spray tube inserted in openings either above the drawbar (where I believe the contact is), or below, which looks like it’d just be a wasted mess. I’m thinking above?

Is there not some grease in there that you are removing when spraying that in there?
Not really. I used to add vasoline.

When you turn the chorus to C3, the organ should be noticeably brighter through the internal speakers when you turn the vibrato tabs on.
There is a lot to troubleshoot in the reverb circuit, too much to analyze remotely.

Most likely a bad run motor.
Is Todd spraying Deoxit above or below the drawbar?
Doesnt hurt to do both, the contacts are actually inside

I thought you were going to remove the drawbar rail and disassemble the drawbars to clean 'em, not give 'em a quick spray.
Usually a spray is all that's necessary

I can’t help but think that every time you zip the drawbars in and out causes the wire to flex and fail. Good business for repairs.
Repairment would rather not have to keep fixing these
As it can be messy, I use DeOxit only if CRC QD Electronic Cleaner doesn't get the job done.
