I feel so ripped off I just converted my free xp with 12500 doubloons and then WG post a 1 doubloon = 35xp deal for tomorrow, I could have got sooo much more for my money :(
That weird guy named bob from your yoga place I havn't spent the free xp however I have converted my doubloons to free xp, I really hope they can refund though! I just have to hope ahah
Thanks for another great review. I listen to your videos on the drive to work, and even not being able to watch them, they communicate a great deal of helpful info.
Everyone goes on about the massive citadel of the Nelson and the fact the bow can be over matched - both of those can be mitigated extremely well if you play correctly- the Nelson has an extremely thick armour belt 14" inlined at ~20°, therefore if you show around a 40° angle to enemy battleships then the sheer thickness of the belt will stop almost every shell
All fascinating stuff. I was a bit lost in places as in history the Nelson and Rodney were incredibly well protected. Easily the best of the 1st gen treaty battleships with very heavy belt, deck and turret armour that was yet more impressive for being made of the British cemented product that along with its German counterpart was of recognisedly higher quality than any other. Otoh, our British Mk1 16" 45cal gun was somewhat less impressive, owing to mistaken conclusions drawn from flawed firing tests and suggesting a higher muzzle velocity, lower shell weight combination would enhance penetration. Whereas in reality the reverse was true. However, I appreciate that to tweak the Nelsons to fit in this game it must have been necessary to make some reasonable compromises in the interests of providing players with a more entertainingly versatile ship overall. One whose performance will best reflect the skill of the commander and also permit the class to be slotted with reasonable accuracy into the tier system the game employs.
Ok so I had my first battle in the Nelson. Nothing paradigm altering but that heal gives her some serious staying power. I like it even though it's as slow as dirt.
The whole point of that front in gun angle is to keep your ship angled nicely, if the citadel is so bad that even a steep angle like t hat exposes you then that's bad.
Got one, love it!! Down side, now I have to start over with my free xp for the Missouri but I cannot complain to much because yesterday I was very lucky to receive a super container with 75K free xp! Also I played for all the free XP and I've nothing converted! Keep up the good work! xD
One thing i am loving about the nelson so far...I don't get sucked into T9 fights. I often find myself fighting t8s but thats not as bad as fighting two above me.
Does it have special paint like the MO? Money? Free exp? Maybe increased Captain exp? Really anything would be nice. I want this ship, but it's eating most of my progress toward the MO. I'd love a bonus paint feature. Extra ship exp makes no sense.
Hey Notser would you like to make clear that the Ruddershift time in your "ship Intro"(wich is verrrry nice) is WITH RDSM ? Also by AA range or Sec Range if played so
So Ive been playing WoWs for the last 2 weeks without watching any videos on it for years, does the Queen Elizabeth class have a bad reputation? I loved the Iron Duke but the 15" guns on the QE just seem to bounce off everything so HE seems like the only option. It's weird because HMS Warspite plays really well and I can get a 100,000 damage game fairly often
Notser.. I know you have a low opinion of the Nelson/ Rodney 2ndaries, but (a) what is their range, and (2) why did you not lock on any close ships if they were in range? 6 guns per side is 6 guns, and not zero. Are the Brit 2ndaries not worth bothering about? Cheers!
+Binks Webelf British Battleships have really short range secondaries, something like 6.5km max in this battle. I think it is just a range issue that limits British Battleships effectiveness
Nope, they are not. People really need to stop overhyping BB secondaries and focus more on the actual stats of the secondary armament. In Nelson´s case, they only have a range of 5 km and a pretty bad fire rate of 5 rounds per minute. Furthermore, the 152mm guns only fire AP. They may be good enough to piss off a destroyer that sneaks up from behind, but nothing that would be worth investing points into.
[MMAD] [KMS3] ultimatu I've done that once to a colorado. The shells enter the front through the deck just in front of the A turret, and hit the citadel. Never been in that situation since then, and I never shoot for the bow anyway. Normally happens when you get too close.
Notser mind uploading an average game but being low tier? vs T9 ships, for us to have an idea if the heal actually compensates for the punishment you can recieve, thanks!
Oh its Kylo Ren... Can i ask a question who would win? Death Star or Space Battleship Yamato... Super Laser vs Wave Motion Gun / Super Graviton Cannon... Then again SBY was probably based off DS...
You are right about the cits. I had a new mexico kill me by taking 45K. I was angled away from him going to engage a congo. Was quite shocking lol. I have yet to fire a HE salvo however
You're correct Sascha, and it would be a bit unfair, and a bad precedent if the Nelson was better. But at the same time, HMS Nelson was built as a proper battleship and the low armour in WoWS doesn't reflect that. And in game Nelson is usually denied the opportunity to bow tank (what the ship should be great at) even when she is top tier.
Just the nature of Humanity, dislikes and likes are both very helpful for channel growth so I don't really mind. Only thing I care about is if you and all viewers are enjoying the content.
Lul, below average armour. That is kind of hilarious. I know this game doesn't favour all or nothing schemes at all, and plunging fire isn't really a thing; but I'd be interested to see how the armour performs at looooong ranges. Might have to wait for Warthunder to catch up lol
RN should have crap turret traverse like IJN. I mean Hood should have around 60 seconds (90 historically like Yamato). But wg wants to sell their rn prems well so i suppose its normal...
Finally make it into a vid and it's a pathetic steamroll loss; that would be me at the top of the potato team. This one was no real challenge for the reds.
Single Handedly the worst Brit premium, so lacking in manoeuvrability, takes an age to slow down, overshoot cover, die quickly. God knows how the RN got to be so powerful irl when thy had crap like this.
... Its only a game. And this was an interwar ship limited by naval treaty. This is not a "modern" WWII ship. Britain had ruled the waves long before battleships were even a thing. They dominated the waves in the age of sailing ships with cannons, becoming the first industrialised nation, and accompanying empire run on trade and industry, all protected by the navy. Britain introduced/invented the steam turbine, iron clad warships, turreted ships, aircraft carriers, depth charges, torpedoes, sonar, dreadnoughts.. WWII (and the 1930s recession) certainly took a toll on Britain, and many countries have caught up, and wealth after all is relative.. but we still more than pull our weight.
I burned a Nelson to 200hp with my Cleveland and he healed back 20k hp. *20K!!!* I was like WTF??? (My first battle seeing the Nelson.)
Burning damage can be healed like 80%-90% by any ship...
Yes, I reacted the same he pressed the "Haha, screw you" button ^^
I feel so ripped off I just converted my free xp with 12500 doubloons and then WG post a 1 doubloon = 35xp deal for tomorrow, I could have got sooo much more for my money :(
lol
I think you can send a support ticket as long as you didn't spend that free exp.
That weird guy named bob from your yoga place I havn't spent the free xp however I have converted my doubloons to free xp, I really hope they can refund though! I just have to hope ahah
nah because they are retarded i think they cant..
thegreekfirepower[WG-CC] ffs this is why I hate WG sometimes...
And the poor Colorado just keeps slipping further and further behind.
Feels IJN man...
Nagatoo is good
Thanks for another great review. I listen to your videos on the drive to work, and even not being able to watch them, they communicate a great deal of helpful info.
Really nice review Notser. I really like the new format you use now, with the specs, preferred build and then gameplay. It works well I reckon.
My first 3 battles. only using HE. 65k damage, 79k (Confederate) and 98k... 2 out 3 were victories.
Is it just me, or do you hardly ever see the HMS Hood around much recently?
I think it is just a rare ship, only sold once and was a short window. I bet holidays will bring it back and see more bought
All fascinating stuff. I was a bit lost in places as in history the Nelson and Rodney were incredibly well protected. I got nelson today for free with my saved free xp, 3rd battle was 141k so I'm happy so far. But yeah it eats lots of damage
Ok so I had my first battle in the Nelson. Nothing paradigm altering but that heal gives her some serious staying power. I like it even though it's as slow as dirt.
I love the Nelson! It’s like an Assassin particularly with destroyers.
The whole point of that front in gun angle is to keep your ship angled nicely, if the citadel is so bad that even a steep angle like t hat exposes you then that's bad.

Wow! How many games did it take you to get all that free xp?
about 5000, lost track really, I've played over 8000 games now started in the open beta test.
Johan Seinen Seems like I have my work cut out for me. 😁
One thing i am loving about the nelson so far...I don't get sucked into T9 fights. I often find myself fighting t8s but thats not as bad as fighting two above me.
Dang. Love the video intro. If WG did that with new ships it would be epic so TM that quick Notser.
Does it have special paint like the MO? Money? Free exp? Maybe increased Captain exp?
Really anything would be nice. I want this ship, but it's eating most of my progress toward the MO. I'd love a bonus paint feature. Extra ship exp makes no sense.
She doesn't have the crazy Missouri economy, but makes the equivalent xp and credits as any other t7 premium.
Hey Notser would you like to make clear that the Ruddershift time in your "ship Intro"(wich is verrrry nice) is WITH RDSM ?
Also by AA range or Sec Range if played so
Yeah, same goes for the concealment stats etc. I'll add some notation that stats are improved or something
So Ive been playing WoWs for the last 2 weeks without watching any videos on it for years, does the Queen Elizabeth class have a bad reputation? +Binks Webelf British Battleships have really short range secondaries, something like 6.5km max in this battle. I think it is just a range issue that limits British Battleships effectiveness
Nope, they are not. People really need to stop overhyping BB secondaries and focus more on the actual stats of the secondary armament.

Yesterday I was getting citadelled by New Mexico's when I was bow on to them in my Colorado. Happened in multiple games
[MMAD] [KMS3] ultimatu I've done that once to a colorado. The shells enter the front through the deck just in front of the A turret, and hit the citadel. Never been in that situation since then, and I never shoot for the bow anyway. Normally happens when you get too close.
Ah Izumo's more reliant twin at the cost of armour however...
That citadel on Emerald with HE after that colision with akizuki - for maximum kek. 5:16
Could the 'horst citadel the Nelson with its 28cm guns if the Nelson uses the 3rd turret?
I don't know
Trying to decide whether to use my free XP to fast track the Gearing or buy the Nelson
Notser mind uploading an average game but being low tier? vs T9 ships, for us to have an idea if the heal actually compensates for the punishment you can recieve, thanks!
Hmm still gonna keep saving for the Missouri for now.
Lol i played an 11k xp game in Missouri the other day. Got 2 citadels on a F. Der Große
boi i love shooting this ship especially when they use all of its 3 guns. citadel allmost an instant.
how was the heat shells on u deck ,made any trouble to u?
So given the apparent power of the Nelson (406mm guns, reasonable dispersion, super heal, turret setup) where does the hood stand?
Weaker offense, stronger mitigation against 2+ targets, and it way faster to play the objective.
Ok cool :) Would you say the hood is tankier then or does the nelsons squishiness get mitigated by the super heal?
different situations favor different ships
nelson is better 1v1 where the hood is better against 2+
Needs more Heart of Oak in the background..
Umm what's the AA on the ship? I didn't see the DPS of the AA.
I think like 75 rating or so
+Notser Thanks!
Are they planing to add her torps in a later update or is that not happening
Killed that tonight with my Lolanta :D
Great video
Are sets of mission gonna come out for the commemorative flag?
Don't know, I hope so
what is the soundtrack at the begin ing of the video ?
Artur Tokhtash - The Loadstar [OST World of Warships]
Notser, why Steering Mod 2 instead of Damage Control Mod 2? You're going to take HE spam. Lots and lots of HE spam. Wouldn't the DCM 2 be better?
I prefer to dodge over absorb both flood and fire
well he can easily heal flood and fire dmg...so he got a point!
torp hit counts as citadels so you cant heal em 100%
How much is 375,000 XP in terms of doubloons?
15000 doubloons, with the 1=25 standard conversion rate.
Imma just start saving up my free xp and start converting from my gallant
Any of you stat crunchers do the math and figure out if it's worth investing into AA and secondaries at all?
how can you have Dunq capt in Nelson?
Drvnwolf Wolfie he's referring to "Jack Dunkirk", the unique British commander that was the reward for completing the Dunkirk Collection.
406 Guns still sound like cruiser guns...
hes on about the actual sound, they sound like the 203mm american ones
Would love to see a cruiser bare 16inch guns lmao
Kylo Ren ahh
Oh its Kylo Ren... Can i ask a question who would win?
Death Star or Space Battleship Yamato...
Super Laser vs Wave Motion Gun / Super Graviton Cannon...
Then again SBY was probably based off DS...
Indeed not when SB is powered by suns and can send mulitple shots - wiping out an entire systems.
Today battle i just full salvo the Nelson with my gneisenau. Wew, this is because he exposed too much broadside. XD
Is it worth 7-10K doubloons?
only you can answer that, I'd probably wait a bit before deciding. I believe it will stay in the tech tree forever at this point
Thanks for your advice. I have some dobloons left over so I will use them and the grind another 50K free XP and buy the ship.
Why have we not all agreed to call them 'Cits' yet ....
You are right about the cits. I had a new mexico kill me by taking 45K. I was angled away from him going to engage a congo. Was quite shocking lol.
I have yet to fire a HE salvo however
Nelson is my favorite ship in the game!
Here's proof: @FXUo
I dont understand why all complain about the bow aromr all the time thogh no other t7 BB has more bow armor anyway....
You're correct Sascha, and it would be a bit unfair, and a bad precedent if the Nelson was better.

music name?
+SHirako THeGamer it is one of the world of warship songs. I'll try and look it up
Thats the standard WoWs music while playing
ty notser :D
Artur Tokhtash - The Loadstar [OST World of Warships]
OMG thank you so much Notser :D
meh. i'll use my free xp for the line
So I dont understand; there is always dislikes on every video even though the video doesn't seem the offensive in any regard.
Just the nature of Humanity, dislikes and likes are both very helpful for channel growth so I don't really mind. Only thing I care about is if you and all viewers are enjoying the content.
This ship in more or less Yamato at tier 7 it has big GUNZZ and shit citidel that gets hit from stupid angles.
op as hell
Lul, below average armour. That is kind of hilarious. I know this game doesn't favour all or nothing schemes at all, and plunging fire isn't really a thing; but I'd be interested to see how the armour performs at looooong ranges. Might have to wait for Warthunder to catch up lol
Tom Meakin Unfortunately in Warthunder, the largest warship you can control is Destroyer. XD
Mammoth Mk3 for now
hey i dont care about the ships, big news for us war thunder players is tier 6 is coming finally.
Nelson Mandela?
You have to love how backwards and silly Wargaming has turned WoWS into. In game Hood has more effective armor and protection then the Nelson >.> Wut?
Lol you sound funny when you are pronouncing the names of certain ships!!! Sorry had to say it lmao especially after watching so many of your videos
36 s turret traverse is too high, with the myoko I got a 45s turret traverse and I have a smaller caliber gun.
Really need a longer turret traverse.
RN should have crap turret traverse like IJN. I mean Hood should have around 60 seconds (90 historically like Yamato). But wg wants to sell their rn prems well so i suppose its normal...

They have sacked ichase wg suck do something
Awful ship, guns and armor are garbage.
