Great tips! Been binge watching videos for weeks for budget grocery shopping. You are the ONLY one who doesnt push apps and couponing. Did it before and takes way too much time and effort. Generic, BOGO, and clearance meat sales. Just figured out how to make potato chips with nothing but hot oil, a potato, and vegetable peeler. Saves tons on snack food. I cook most from scratch but convenience foods were doing us in. A $10 pasta maker rolls dough thin enough to premake pizza and pizza rolls for the freezer. Rice, oats, grits, and flour extend everything. Growing/raising as much as possible. Buying/eating what's in season... A shut off switch on the hot water heater saves tons. Heating and cooking exclusively with a wood stove in winter and outside on a grill and outdoor wood stove during summer saves tons on the electric bill. Every dollar saved goes towards debt.

Thank you! I understand why so many bloggers & TH-camrs push the apps...I could earn $2 per person I get to sign up, easily. But they just don't work that well, and I can't in good conscience push and say they're anything but a sometimes useful afterthought.
But thanks for the pasta maker tip! I've seen one at my local thrift store and you might have convinced me it has uses other than pasta. 😂

I Used a zero-based budget before I even knew that’s what it was called. And I also pre-plan my paydays in a binder including savings and I was able to save $10,000 over two years. I also became debt-free in 2020 and $83,000 in 3 1/2 years

It is truly insane how much $ can be spend just buying lil things at the register (snacks, soda, etc), takeout/drive thru and coffee.😮 I remarried at 50 after being a single mom for many years. My husband was the quintessential spending bachelor. The struggle was REAL!

Oh girl preach it! I don't do coupons, cash back app, reward point apps, or mail in rebates. It's way to time consuming and, as you stated, frustrating! I just found you as well and am looking forward to more of your content! Keep the vids comin!😉

Oh man, ESPECIALLY the kind of 'saving' that puts time between the moment of purchase and when you get the money, like snail-mail rebates. There would be no way I'm remembering those, haha. Thanks for joining the fun!

Just for kicks, I just calculated the thrifty spending plan according to the USDA for the different age groups for my family of five. The total that the USDA thinks we should be spending on a so-called bare-bones budget is $1,295. We spend less than a third of that at$400.

I pay twice that with AT&T. But $30 + tax is reasonable for guaranteed, reliable service. That change put nearly $40 back in my pocket every month - nearly $500. to date, Mint connections aren’t great in my dead zone street.
