    I've watched hundreds upon hundreds of photography videos, especially those using flash. You've never shown in my searches till today. Enjoyed the video it was short but very informative. I found Neil Van Nekirk 5 years ago and adopted his "black foamy thing." I use the flashes small bounce card if I need to throw light forward. I also use the TT 350C to bounce flash. I've bounced with the wall 15 ft in the back and the subject 3 to 7 feet in front of me with excellent results. Try maxing out the flash zoom when bouncing it seems to add a little length to the bounce.

    Very helpful. And, since I already took your suggestion about the Godox and wireless trigger, I am now better prepared to venture outside my comfort zone. You are correct. A little effort is required to adjust to using the flash. However, after playing with it off and on, it really is getting easier. Again, another really helpful video about the X100F uses and techniques. Wayne

    You don't mention it but in another video I watched the presenter suggested that when bouncing from walls and ceiling one should zoom the flash focusing all the way out, so a narrower but stronger light. If it were I, I'd zoom and up the ISO to allow the increased sensitivity of the sensor to catch more light.

    • @BoorayPerry

      Yes. In that small room it wasn't a factor but when I am working in big halls I zoom the flash head.

    I got the Godox TT350F about two months ago. I've been taking photos since the mid 1970's with and without flash. I've used more brands than I have fingers on one hand. Maybe two. Anyway, it amazes me what you can do with this little flash. The one thing I've done is bought some NIMH batteries. That really improves the flash recycling. Bumping the ISO also helps. But I don't go to extremes. In summation, buying this flash was $80.00 excellently spent! I'm sure you get wonderful results with the Demb Flip-it. I use paint swatches (an incredible variety available) and Velcro. Both from HomeDepot.

    This is a great video and I am watching it for the 3rd time. My problem is shooting groups of 6-8 people in a large, open room, and walls and ceilings are far away. So, I use a bounce card similar to yours, but I still can never get it looking right. I think it's perhaps my flash compensation. Usually, I am in manual, likely f4, 3200, then adjusting light output. I have a 10 percent keeper rate. I stink at this.

    • @BoorayPerry
      @BoorayPerry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's gonna be the case when you can't bounce behind you. The flash just can't send the same light to the edges that it send to the middle. The best you can do is to turn the people sideways and try to make the group as small as possible. :)

    I found flashpoint zoom mini also turns 270 degrees. In their adorama website, the image showed 360 degree rotation. You mentioned 270 for tt350 and so was confused whether flashpoint gave that option. But finally found that it does not. Just thought to update you as I had previously commented that flashpoint turns 360.

    One more step forward: Off camera flash! We can switch our in camera flash to "C" aka Commander mode. It will flash just a little bit. But ALL the modern system flashlights can operate as optical slave. That means, when they "see" a flash, they fire immediately. This is the cheapest (0 USD) remote flash controller.

    • @BoorayPerry

    Great video. All your stuff is helping me become better at taking pics. One thing about bouncing the flash and diffusing it. Don’t you usually need a wider aperture when you have a broader, less intense light source?

    • @BoorayPerry
      @BoorayPerry  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope! You have to remember that the amount of flash is metered by the camera. If you put a diffuser on your flash the camera knows that because it sees less light and it turns the flash up to compensate.

It was X100 F which I used of a friend and started loving fujifilm and so just recently got X-E4 with 27mm. The bounce flash behind quality is like studio photo! wow! Thanks for sharing this. @@BoorayPerry thanks for the quick response! Last week I was able to stress test the x100vi at my neice’s sweet 16, it’s definitely not as good as my q2 but is pretty mighty. I decided to go barebones and relied on built-in flash and many pictures had red eye. Forgot to turn on red eye removal. I’m not a flash user myself as I usually shoot close to wide open. It’s my first Fujifilm so I can’t comment how it compares to the previous version. IMO - it’s probably not worth an upgrade from the V. If you’d like to see the gallery, the exif is visible. I took many with and without flash. Let me know.
      Btw - your videos are very informative, there are not many like you so keep them videos coming. Thank you

      @@ClashingwithTofu Whenever I use the built in flash, I shoot black and white so you can't see the red eye. :)
      I know it's not a big upgrade from the V to the VI but I love the increased megapixels on my XH2 so I'm looking forward to that on the VI.
      Thanks for the compliment on the channel!

    Question: i don’t love the raccoon eyes when the flip it is pointed straight up. If you angle it, say, 45 degrees forward, will then help reduce raccoon eyes?

    Good video. But...what about camera settings when using the Godox flash? Does it have to be used in manual mode ? How about auto mode ? How well does the flash communicate with the camera?

    • @BoorayPerry

      It communicates just fine. I always use manual mode because I'm usually operating at the limits of my settings anyway. :)

    Wow I love the detail you went into. Thank you very much for it. I do have a question though. On your podcast I listened to every one of them and you talked about bounce flashing at one point. I don’t remember which one it was but can you explain whether you go with a tight or wide zoom on the flash head? Or does it purely depend on distance you are from the wall? Thanks so much for this one little detail. I love this channel and your podcast.

    • @BoorayPerry

      Right zoom. It helps you squeeze a little more per from the flash. Thanks for listening!

    Hey Booray! I have learnt a lot from this short tutorial, and much appreciated. I wanted to know if you kept your iso at 1600 for all the images? And also, what would be the lowest iso that you would take it down to for this particular flash?

    • @BoorayPerry
      @BoorayPerry  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I stayed at 1600 for all of the images. I suppose I could shoot at 160 with this flash provided it had enough power but I'm never in a situation where that is a good choice unless I'm outside on a bright day and just using the flash for fill.

      X-T2? It's really a question of preference. This flash is smaller and lighter but won't have the power of a Godox Ving flash. It really depends on what kind of work you are doing. For weddings, etc I would want the big Ving boorayperry.com/boorays-gear/

      Yes if you get the one that is designed for Canon cameras. However, I wouldn't get this one. This one is really designed for a very small camera. going to put a flash on a full-size camera I would use a full size flash. Take a look at what I use at www.Boorayperry.com/education
