    Can you remember what 25 head it used? Would be nice to know what compression ratio it ended up with. 400 is a pretty nice number through that drivetrain and big wheels

      I believe it was a GTST R33 Nissan skyline Head, pretty much all standard

    That peak of 400hp was in morning and probably first run.... The intercooler was cold and the turbo too... You can´t keep that pressure with these horsepower for a long time, intercooler will get hot, turbo too and engine will start predetonating.

      Thank you 🙏 for watching, You speaks the facts, I will say I do get the cars up to running temp before doing a run, but you are right by saying it still would of been way colder.. It was a while ago but i think i did do something, To the timing or tightening up some of the intercooler piping “ owner didn’t have the tools to do the piping right, so had a heap of leaks, can’t tell you for sure, but yeah 100% right the power will go down with heat, To answer your question on detonation to stop this, the Forby has a air temp sensor, which like the ECT, if the engine/incoming air gets to hot 🥵, the ECU has a separate timing map, that takes timing out at certain temperatures.. most modern aftermarket ecu have this option, but sometime the maps are hard to find in the software , Cheers again for the feed back

    Invest in some insurance, buy a Eboost 2.
    Boost by gear.
    It was over posting because the day before the intercooler pipe was already letting go and leaking, and you kept winding more into it to get it up
    Lucky you set up the boost cut

      the Eboost is a awesome bit a gear, this was a customers car, and is still hitting boost hard, but 100% agree a electric boost controller would be a win for this set up , as for boost by gear, this gripped so hard , full boost in first was fine

    if you had your chance to do it again would you still use the same motor or barra turbo it
    im just doing a shell and trying to decide between the 2 motors i know the barra will acheive more power easily on a cheaper budget and parts and stuff would be more common
    any thoughts to help my choice

      Gday M8, thank you for the comment.. well i have to say the RB30det pulled hard, but i would be using the Ford engine and that is due to a couple of reasons. *1 Availability, in part and the actual motor, *2 Torque, the Barra engine is going to give more of it and earlier in the rev range.. *3 power, if you get a 2006 Barra Red top you’ll be able to get 400hp without of to much trouble, cost either way should be around the same, as the rb30 is a bolt in, but you’ll need to spend more to get it up to spec, and the barra you’ll need a conversion kit , to bolt on to the gearbox and engine mounts extra..

      @@GREASEGARAGE hey yeh thanx for the reply i was leaning towards the barra only thing that gave the rb30 a thought is its a bolt it
      im good at welding so ill just relocate the engine mounts myself and use AU falcon engine mounts
      the blown rd28 still in there so ill take measurements where the crank is

      @@theancientones3755 keep as update, we did have a barra patrol in the work shop, i didn’t get to work on it though. i’ll talk to the worker and see what he used

      Standard engine mounts the GQ patrols came with a non turbo RB30 sohc carby , so nothing mounting wise needed to be changed, the patrol RB30 has the skyline RB25DET head on it. great mod on these cars

      hey mitch, i actually agree with you . if the owner wanted more power a bigger turbo would of been the way to go for sure. but i was worried seems the engine was a stock rb30 with a RB25DET Head

      Hey again Mitch, sadly i was only tuning it🙂 it was a owner build, and his goal was only 400hp 🔥🔥hints why i was so focus on that goal 💥, I will say on the road when you put your foot 🦶 down you could feel the front lifting and steering go light, would of been awesome to see it out on the dunes
