  • Complete Service on the Vauxhall Grandland X 1.6 Diesel B16DTH Engine
    Oil Capacity 3.8 litres
    Sump plug 21mm with 34Nm torque requirement.
    Oil filter 27mm housing with 25Nm torque requirement.
    Sorry the under car tray was missing from this vehicle and I forgot to show the correct way when installing the oil filter but the rest is as should be. The cabin filter is an absolute nightmare to remove and fit as the matrix is from Peugeot and clearly designed for left hand drive. The clutch pedal mounting makes it a horrible job and I suffered a lot of scratches during the hour long ordeal.
    I hope the video helps you to DIY and please subscribe!
    Thanks for watching!

    Just used this video to help me replace the air con filters in my Grandland X, it was a great video and very helpful, was tricky to do, especially with big hands, but so pleased I've changed the filters, previous owner was a smoker, old filters were black when I took them out, now getting lovely fresh clean air in my car🙂

      Well done! Try the charcoal type cabin filters if there’s an option for them.

    Thank you, this seems to be the only repair / service video for the Grandland X. Have mine since a year, maybe in the future when the car is getting older some videos will appear on youtube. I love my Grandy X btw :-)

    Nice video, did you have any starting issues after changing the fuel filter? Did it need bleeding? Cheers

      No issues on this car. Only ever had issues on Fords and Land Rovers when changing fuel filters. Some cars don’t have a pre-delivery pump in the tank and they’re the difficult ones.

    Hi, great video, when changing the fuel filter is there any requirement to drain any collected water from anywhere, other than just emptying and replacing the filter ?

      Thanks Alberto, no you do not need to disconnect the battery for the fuel filter or any of the service items.

    Hi, thanks for this video. Cabin filter looked grim! Do you think the positioning of the fuel filter atop the engine helps prevent condensation build-up?

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dave, the cabin filter took over an hour as all instructions pointed to the passenger side even before all the pain suffered accessing! I hadn’t really considered the fuel filter location but I imagine the plastic housing and location may help. There’s a lot of them in this location but then you get BMWs with them underneath and metal so maybe it’s just not as big a problem anymore.

    And I thought my Fiat Panda cabin filter was hard. I’m getting a Crossland X this week. Why did they design the cabin filter to be so hard to access? 🤧😰😱

    • @IAMASPANNER

      I don’t know how they end up like this, the heater matrixes are from the Peugeot’s they share with, Nissan jukes are particularly difficult too

    Hello.since this is a diesel engine did you need to do something to take the air off from pipes after you change the fuel filter ?

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, you're right to consider this as some engines are terrible to get started after fuel filter change. This one was fine, no extra steps required on this occasion.

    Hi, thank you for the video, it is really helpful! I have a Peugeot 508 with 1.6 BlueHdi engine, which is basically the same engine as in your video. I have changed oil and oil filter, but having problem with disconnecting a quick connector shown on 2:06. How exactly do you disconnect it, I am afraid I might broke somethings? Thx.

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should just need squeezing in the correct places and shouldn’t be too difficult. It would be difficult to break as if it’s the right one it’s only a breather pipe. Thanks for the comment.

    Excellent. Question: does replacing cabin filter help if former smoker owned vehicle? Andy

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy, as the cabin filter is filtering air from outside I’m not sure it would make that much difference but I would change it anyway. There’s a heavy duty anti-tobacco spray you can buy at supermarkets, I think it’s by febreeze. If it’s really bad I’d try treating the full interior with white vinegar first.
