It does happen. When my life started to go sideways in college, my family didn't know how to react. I did a lot of the same things Liam did (except the stalking part). I withdrew from the world, lived in my apartment and never left except at night. I stopped answering my phone and social media for months. Actually, this has happened more than once to me.
My family mostly just... gives me distance. I know they love me and they wish life was better for me. But it's hard to feel that way sometimes. I also know I'm part of the problem. I'm responsible for pushing people away.
It's extremely rare to find a person who really understands life from this perspective. The whole time I was listening to this episode I was crying out to God that he would help Liam, the same way he's helped me. So when I heard the ending I was crushed and legitimately angry.
Why didn't God help him? Why did Jesus pick me and not him? I've done nothing to deserve the help I've gotten, and the deck was stacked against Liam from day 1.
My son's name is Liam too. I think that's another reason that this episode affected me more than any other one of Casefile.

@@patedwards8844 I would say don't just bury it and "try to change the cycle" on your own, because you won't be able to. I thought I could do it without help but that never lasted long. Its gonna hurt but its important to look back at it, process it, try to find healing for it. I'm sure it left scars and without doing the hard work of healing, those scars will turn up in your future relationships, trust me.

You realize that they obtained these records specifically from places that sold her personal data? They did nothing but do something that everyone else was able to do their own. @@JimMilton-ej6zi Agree 100%. The problem with your comment is the original comment, "Why can't someone do something!!!! whaaa" Today more than ever, these people want to be bottle fed and hand held, begging the gvt for some form of reprieve. What they fail to realize is that the gvt is what STOPPED privacy laws in the first place. I understand this happened in early days of the internet, but still, I feel DocuSearch is accountable for more than they're taking responsibility for because of the following...
    A Dramatic Dialogue by LI
L: hey DocuSearch, I want to find out where this girl works
DS: OK, well, to find out that very public information, we need you to supply some very private information about her to us (SSN, specifically)
L: ok...hey, DocuSearch, I need you to find that girl's SSN for me
DS: you got it big guy....hey presto! One girl's social security number for the man!
L: thanks DocuSearch....hey, DocuSearch, here's that girl's SSN you asked for; can you tell me where she's working now?
DS: public info coming up.....[well, shit, apparently that info isn't quite as easily found as we thought. Better get a PRIVATE DETECTIVE to find that out for our boy.]
PD: one girl's work information for ya DS!
DS: OK Liam, we got that very easily discovered public information for you...
So, did nobody (meaning DocuSearch) use the INTERNET to search Amy's workplace or social security info? Because if they'd tried searching her name, Liam's obsessive site should have been returned, right? And why is DocuSearch providing the information they need from Liam TO Liam so they can then (eventually) get the work info to him? I hope the less than $100 he paid them for the information was worth it to them. No, but really, I hope they got their asses sued by any and all others they shared information about.

Neglect can be just as powerful, socially and mentally debilitating as abuse. It is such a shame that this young man Liam didn't have the guidance to turn what happened to him as a child into anything positive whatsoever..
RIP Amy Boyer. What a senseless tragedy..

    • @evryhndlestakn
      @evryhndlestakn 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I've been saying this for years. I describe it as indifference.
It's definitely a form of abuse.
It destroys the ego. By ego I don't mean arrogance or anything like that. Rather, your own personal identity, to yourself. A parents indifference, or its enough that the individual feels their parents are indifferent towards them.
His parents were a shocking example of taking no responsibility for raising your child.
Parents can feel that they are providing for their children & caring about them when they work long hours or provide material items.
Whatever a child or youth says about wanting this, that or whatever, they will always want your love & to feel they are loved & they will want you to be interested in them more than being interested in what you can give them. You may think it's for the right reasons but if you have a child, they are the reason, there is no other reason that's as important.
I understand that life doesn't make it easy to cover everything but it's about prioritising the importance.
While a Father or Mother is taking all the available overtime or extra work or are exhausting themselves in an effort to create a home,
They may look around one day & realize they hadn't even noticed their family had slipped away from them & in that situation it wont be a great feeling to have all the things or have the home & no family to include in it.

I don't feel one iota of pity for this guy. *He never loved Amy. If she had been with him, he would have abused and completely controlled her, because that's what happens when a stalker/potential stalker gets the object of their sick obsession. They can't have the empathy to see someone else's perspective.* People can't help if you don't say/do something, and if one person doesn't help you, find another. I'm an introvert, but I have several friends because I don't shun people's contact if it's coming from a kind/neutral place. After a point, it's on HIM.

Liam: Very very clearly showed multiple times that he was in need of help, literally turning himself into the police and posting all of it online for anyone to see and possibly give him the help he needs, even having him demand to be put into a mental institution.
Everyone: The website hosts/guns/liam was the problem here, why didn't anyone see these signs? Lets continue to ignore those signs in others and continue to use it to push our own personal opinions on things we don't like.
You see how no one who talked about the case mentioned the mental health in it besides a few people? and even those few people still went after things that were woefully irrelevant to what actually caused it. This is just another one of those elliot cases where there were very clear signs and no one stopped it but then acted like they tried everything to stop it the second something goes wrong.

While I can see where a person would completely blame him for the brutal murder of a nice looking and decent young lady is understandable. However, I feel that nobody tried to help him even though his own mom knew he was extremely depressed, etc. I understand also that this young guy was deeply troubled and had(s) no help from anyone anywhere apparently ever even though it was obvious. Mental health should be taken more seriously and patients especially this idiot dude should have been made to stay at a mental hospital atleast a 2-4 month stay atleast for observation.
