its so weird to see sephiroth behaving like a normal person.
It just makes his turn to evil sting more. Sometimes I imagine an alternate version of FF7 where the game actually starts off with the Nibelheim stuff so the twist of Sephiroth being the villain could hit extra hard.

He definitely was human once. Illustrated by indulging..."Cloud"....People don't like it but I think when the trilogy is done he will be humanized even more; not fully "redeemed" but more humanized.

Sephiroth was a normal person. But after this quest Jenova took control over his mind. You can see a lot of stuff in the original game which confirms that theory. Like a tonne.
And a lot of stuff that confirm if it happened, it didn't last and he's the one in control following this.

But the OG remained in bit blurry about that and Advent Children didn't help
@@alexeiharp7676 What's weird is that the FFVII Ultimania (released in 2005 if I remember correctly), it's very, very clearly stated Sephiroth's will was so strong he overcame Jenova and is the one in control and Advent Children itself is all about the resurrection of Sephiroth using Jenova cells (the writers even stated the whole starting point of the movie was the battle between Cloud and Sephiroth and they wrote the rest around it). It's all about Sephiroth.
But at the same time, those same writers apparently believe Jenova is still influencing him.
So...yeah, guess we'll have to wait for part 3.

It does actually upset me that you can literally see how exhausted Sephiroth was about all this before he went insane. Those little moments when someone takes his pic without permission, and he's reminded not only does he have no bodily autonomy as a lab experiment but he has no control over his image too. That paired with the knowledge that as a teenager he just wanted to live a normal life - pretty upsetting picture
