@@Demonix_Heller If memory serves, in the original game, you could chose either option, and Barret complained just as much in the old game as he does here.

its really cool how before going up the stairs cloud says to pace yourself. So if you sprint the beginning of the stairs, you will start to slow down farther in, but if you walk at the beginning you can sprint later into the climb.
That is a really cool detail
I actually tried different approach to climbing the stairs but the end result is still the same so it doesnt matter.
it's a good thing this didn't happen with rebirth's relationship system, or you'd see "your relationship with barret has been depleted"
So the choices are: take the elevator and get delayed by soldiers and some people or take the long uninterrupted stairs to the top
Kill soldiers... or torture Barret. Which'll it be?
Good thing I took the stairs to save myself trouble if ever I was unprepared on “Hard” mode…

It makes sense that Tifa is blazing ahead of Cloud and Barrett since she has the lightest gear. Cloud has a giant sword, but Barrett has a metal arm and a lot more muscle mass

Played this game 3 times and got the platinum and had no idea you could actually take the stairs
In the original I'm pretty sure it's the only option, and I'm so disappointed I couldn't find the entrance to the stairs and took the elevator
The elevator also had some changes. It kinda seem realistic, but I also miss the haywire part which has troops ambushing us.

She is the lightest. Barret is a hulking guy with a gun arms and Cloud has that giant sword, so compared to them she'd be a bit faster.
Barret's singing was the icing on the cake.

in my case i would take the elevator but above the box instead of inside it
I always found interesting that despite to his SOLDIER enhancement, Cloud can't outrun to Barret and Tifa so easily.
He did in the original game, not even breaking a sweat while the other two were exhausted.
@@rado9815Yeah, since these are supposedly different timelines, the OG version of Cloud outrunning the others is still canon as well.
I don’t think a big ass broadsword is gonna help him. He’s juiced, but that’s a LOT of climbing.

Tifa’s a cardio goddess for schooling those two like she did.
Also, not gonna lie, I find myself feeling bad for Tifa when she gets pressured or persuaded by Barret into the more extreme actions. I'm not calling Barret a villain, but I keep thinking back to when Tifa told Cloud "I feel trapped," and realizing it's Barret who is trapping her in part, even if unintentionally. I just keep saying in my head "save her, Cloud!"
In their defense, Cloud is carrying a gigantic meat cleaver and Barret probably weighs double what Tifa does at least not to mention a heavy machine gun on his arm.
Thing is, in the original Tifa and Barret where the ones dead on their feet and Cloud was just fine.

Honestly I picked the stairs thinking there'd be loot or something since there'd be more ground to cover, or that it'd be some odd dead end compared to the elevator just straight up taking you up.

When I first played, I thought the stairs and the elevator were in the same room so I went to check what was in the other room first and it was the stairs, and you couldn’t go back. Still have no regrets.

It's based on the original: you got to chose between climbing up the stairs and avoiding any battle, or breaking in through the front door in order to take the elevator and face 7 battles plus random encounters.

the stairs was very long. they have funny dialogues. and both tifa and barret actually stop to rest and breath.

Second playthrough I did the Elevator. Not as funny, but still those memories I had. I am replaying through the game because I haven't played Rebirth yet and I'll be doing the Stairs again. So funny doing it because of the slowing down and their conversations! 😅
