For Christmas this year, I got this set of digital calipers, and I was a bit surprised when I started using them. Watch the video to find out why!
*Note: For the shoulder bump reading, the difference was actually .001" (getting used to the display on these!) - so the two pieces of brass were likely from the same sizing operation, not comparing unsized to sized.

I own the 120$ mitutoyos and let me tell you, this is just as smooth and has a much better battery compartment with the more common cr battery and the rubber seal. Still my backup caliper just because I already got the mitutoyo but if you are going to buy one get this.

The nice thing about it using a CR2032 battery is that CR2032 is used for scopes and computer CMOS batteries, so it really is a common battery that pleases gun people and nerds alike.

At 7:18, you state your setback as negative ten, but 0.0010 is negative one thousandth of an inch, not -10. Love the vids by the way!!!!

I was tempted to go for a Mitutoyo, but went for a Igaging instead reasonly) First of all because of the battery compartment cover and large battery. I've had many issues in the past with the Mitutoyo style battery covers that so many manufacturers have copied. It was time for trying something new. And the Igaging seems like great value for money at it's 'mid range' price point. More than good enough for most users.

I just stole your idea for the headspace/bullet comparator storage block. I hated storing them in the original packaging. Great idea.

What is the difference between your two emails I get. One from Ultimate Reloader and one from Gavintoobe ?

Ultimate Reloader (Feedburner, Google) is the subscription for the blog- links to my blog posts. Gavintoobe is my TH-cam channel (sounds like you are subscribed to both!).

I have an old Mitutoyo analog dial, it’s reliable 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. I have a cheap Harbor one...the MOST ANNOYING SET I’VE USED (short battery life, doesn’t hold ZERO, I must take 4-6 measurements to feel confident it held Zero).
My next purchase is an iGaging 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Should be excellent for measuring 300 Blackout reloads (hint, hint). Do you have a patreon account? If not you should really do that. I would be happy to donate a couple dollars a month.

you get what you pay for - the caliper in this vid seems to be working perfectly right out of the box but a year (or less - 6months? 3 months?) from now you probably be tossing it in the trash. I made the mistake of buying a cheapo caliper with all the same capabilities you demonstrate here - was great until the digital display quit working. I've been around long enough I should have known better than to go cheap on a digital precision measuring instrument. Won't make that mistake again.

I have this exact caliper and have had it for more than a year without issue. I would highly recommend it. I found it after doing a lot of internet research on the best affordable calipers.

Realistically a hobbyist doesn't need a $150 set of 0"-6" calipers. I have some Mitutoyos at work and these for home use and never really see the need spending x5 the price for hobby work.

51Dss mine lasted about a year before it started reading crazy. It worked great for that year so I bought another one. If this one doesn't last then it will be cheaper in the long run to get the Mitutoyo.

I've used Mits for years, they also read crazy from time to time. End up it's just dirt and grime in the encoder reader. Also got one of these igauging, not only are they good enough compared to a mit, it is just as good. Speaking from a machinist and toolmaker POV, first hand.
