WoW one of the best interviews ever...... it helped me understand what really goes on in the mind of people experiencing the symptoms Justin is going through...... His answers were great and well thought through and made me so much more aware of the mental trauma he is dealing with and how he is dealing with it. His understanding of what he's experiencing is at a very high level and he is dealing with that trauma at a very high level. What a strong awesome man you are Justin....... I would be proud to be your friend. Stay strong brother and never stop trying to be the best man , husband and dad you can be...... You are AWESOME.
Yes, he shared a lot of wisdom. Chris had some really great questions, and even when it felt like Justin hadn't really thought about it before, the interview got to some really deep insights. Thanks, both of you.
Agreed! I have a lot of faith that his daughter will turn out well. She’s only 4 and he’s already this self-aware and becoming a better person every day. He may have already subjected her to some little traumas (modeling poor behavior, emotional outbursts, verbal fights with her mother), but she’s very young and I have a LOT of hope that corrective experiences will overwrite that. Him and his wife seem like awesome parents. ❤️
It seems like this video wasn't pushed to the algorithm based on views compared to other SBSK videos. I hope that Justin knows his story is still just as valuable and we're all so incredibly grateful to him for sharing it!
I’m no patriot Justin (I simply obey the laws of whatever country I happen to find myself living in at the moment), but your Courage, Responsibility, Integrity-those are values worthy of respect, admiration and imitation. For that you have my thanks.
OOO the people pleaser part, I felt that one. I'm diagnosed myself (and still in the process of diagnosing out more. 5 years and the train is going), and after A LOT of treatment, both pills and therapy, I came to a similar conclusion. Nowdays, to make sure I'm not just a people pleasure, I tell people ahead "I'm a narcissist, and I do anything for my own gain. That includes being a good friend. Makes me feel good, makes you feel good, we both get something out of it, so LESSGOOOOOO". Works like a charm. And it's the truth. I like being a good friend, I like having friends, I like having more friends.
One thing that's really simple but I SUPER appreciate is that you put subtitles in all your videos. That is so cool especially for me and other people that are hard of hearing.
I love how this man is so real about BPD. As a person who's diagnosed with it I resonated with most of the things he said. The biggest challenge is not to be reactive.
Hyper vigilance is the most exhausting thing that goes along with PTSD, I haven’t served mine was domestic as a child but that being so aware of everyone really hit my core
I'm sorry, I have a problem with the phrase "thank you for your service" in general but especially here. It sounds like his trauma would be an important contribution to something bigger that would be worth it, but that is not the case. The man was traumatized and still struggles so hard, and saying thank you for that, seems wrong to me. I am sorry for his service. I am sorry for his trauma and his ptsd, and I blame american militarism and the toxic masculine propaganda that goes along with it.
This is probably my favorite interview on the channel, I admire how much effort and time Justin has put into getting help and coping with traumas in a healthy way. I like how he pointed out that for people with mental illness, it’s important for them to work on themselves and be healthy as well as for the people in their lives to have knowledge about their illness and be willing to give grace and understanding.
Okay I’m rewriting this because I’m watching this multiple times. I have learned so so so so so much in this video. How you described how border line personality disorder affects you and your daily life and the tolls it can have on your relationships. And the examples you gave were so eye opening. You’re so intelligent and it’s clear you have come soooo far in this life. I’m proud of you and thanks for teaching me so much about what’s going on in the mind.
Justin. So proud of you for being so transparent. Proud of you for serving. Proud of you for seeking therapy. I wish you all the best. I got your six. 🇺🇸👍
This is was one of the most intense, powerful & important interviews I've seen of this channel. Justin has such a gentle soul. Chris, you have this Gift & this is your purpose. You're giving these individuals a Voice. Thank you.
These type of talks are what we need in society. We need deep talks where we care about each other and the world around us. I feel like so many people are numb to the world we live and don’t explore too far from the screens in front of their face. Channels like this is the only way to reach those ignoring what is going on around them outside of social media.
The deepest part of you is the deepest part of me, and in that unity we find our sovereignty. Sending you all unconditional love, gratitude and compassion 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
This man is reliving these events in his psyhce and its so painful listening his story when he feel trapped and overwhelmed by his actions and emotional rolacoaster
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us, Justin! You have such an understanding and you really explained it all well. Thank you so much! You are appreciated! I have borderline personality disorder, depression and anxiety. The empty feeling was one I had since early childhood. Now it is gone. I deal better with emotions, still use DBT, to check what I'm doing.
Thank you for this video! My son may have bipolar and borderline personality disorder. The way he described those 2 things sounds so much like my son. He has asked for help. I’m looking forward to him getting better.
Thank you Justin for sharing your story. In my country so many people already are experiencing war related PTSD, and soldiers have the worst of it, understanding stories of people like you and advocating for programs for war veterans is very important.
"Come as you are, not as you 'should' be" UGH this interview was so incredible - I could listen to this man speak forever. I hope more children are blessed with parents who put in work improving themselves.
Justin, your self awareness is inspiring. What an amazing thing to put yourself out into the world like this. And your commitment to accepting your daughter without judgement is the most precious gift a parent can ever give.
This was eye-opening to me. I totally agree with people on the outside needing to show people patience, it is extremely important. Also never listen to anyone who has never been through depression/anxiety etc, they will never understand. Listen to proper professionals and one you can talk to. Thankyou for sharing.
This guy is extremely bright and well spoken. If he can only eliminate his use of the term “like” as a filler, he would be golden. Like is a crutch for him instead of pausing and speaking more slowly and deliberately.
Your awareness of your issues is amazing. I especially admired the part about bleeding onto your family! I grew up with a parent with PTSD from the military and I suffered abuse and so did my mom and sister. It definitely bleeds as now I have issues of my own, but we are breaking cycles ❤️
BPD and bipolar solidarity. Thank you for being brave and sharing your story. I’m with you in working hard at DBT to do better by other people. I wish you the best on your journey to manage your symptoms and thrive as a father, husband and community member. Please know you’re not alone.
This has to be one of the best explanations of how much of a toll that trauma takes upon the human psyche. How someone can overcome it through great effort, knowing when to ask for help, and how important it is to keep talking about these issues. This is going to be an educational experience of the highest quality to many people. I'm thankfully that this channel has blessed me with all these wonderful tools to help take back my own life from my overactive mind. I really appreciate you all for spending the time to create this and the courage to speak freely about many difficult topics that usually get silenced by the "Powers that be".
This is the best description of these disorders, from the experience side, that I have heard or read. I now understand a lot more. Very insightful, self aware, intelligent and well spoken. No idea what you do for a living Justin, but a career as a public speaker or influencer is definitely an option.
Justin seems like a really chill dude. I admire your level of insight and the way you are so thoughtful about all these dimensions of your life. And your piercings are cool! I would love to be your friend.
Justin you’re very well spoken and seem like a very kind, sensitive and insightful person. Keep speaking your truth. I wish you nothing but the best for your future and healing process. I truly hope you can find more clarity and grounding in your life. Ty for your service 🤍.
Wow, this was so packed with great info to understand these disorders. This man is a perfect example of someone “doing the work” to heal, grow and evolve. He is pushing through cultural, social and family pressure to heal. I see you, and the sun sees you. Thank you for honesty and your service then and now that you are educating an infinite amount or people on how to successfully navigate these disorders. And I don’t just mean those with them, but their loved ones, friends and colleagues as well.

Thank you for your transparency, braveness, self awareness and your service. I hope you continue to grow, heal, persevere and thrive. Chris thanks for this. You are appreciated.
Justin did so well in articulating and painting a picture of how far he's come, where he is now, and what he's aiming for. So much respect for his honesty, vulnerability, and for being a voice for others who see themselves in him.

This was a perfect interview in my eyes. This man is absolutely inspiring. I just got diagnosed with pmdd and cptsd and am currently looking for a therapist. I'm dealing with severe depression as well so it can be difficult getting that motivation. But this has really helped me, a lot. Thank you for sharing with us
Glad to say I personally know this guy! Even at Ranger Batt you’ve always been a great hard working guy that took pride in your craft regardless of struggles. Great interview Justin!
Really? We haven't seen combat in Afghanistan since 2008. He doesn't even use the correct terminology for a veteran. Rangers are an elite force. It doesnt add up. Also, he said he was frequently in trouble with the law as a youth and struggled witb bi polar disorder so I'm wondering when this elite combat career happened. They don't allow anyone with mental illness into the military.

You are so kind and thoughtful and it made me feel more thoughtful and grounded listening to you speak. I could immediately tell you were an artist before you said you were, you carry yourself as a creator and with intention and care for the world around you. The willingness to tell pieces of your story to so many people is a masterful example of you being not only comfortable with vulnerability, but welcoming it with open arms and living alongside it. That’s huge and you deserve to give yourself so much credit for that (and for other people to celebrate that too). I’m bipolar and I have ptsd too and I’ve never met anyone else that has both before, your interview made me feel so seen and made me feel so much more safe having my diagnosis’. It felt like you could see inside my brain haha I related to a lot of what you said about both. Thank you so much for this conversation, for being so vulnerable, and for being willing to share it with so many people. You are incredible.

Global Trade and Economy basically relies on the US Military, particularly the Navy acting as Guarantor. Standards of living would take a hit primarily in Europe and Americas if this arrangement. If the US Military wasn't projecting itself like has since post WW2. Everyone complains but everyone who isn't Russia or Iran relies on "US Imperialism"
Damn Justin. Thank you so much for sharing this part of yourself. This has helped to open my eyes to some of the trauma and symptoms I experience as a result. Thank you thank you
The parts where you talked about people pleasing and how that affects you and your relationships with people really helped explain why a lot of relationships go the way they do in my life. Thank you, Justin.
It is so refreshing and inspiring to see someone take responsibility for their mental health and gain such self awareness. I am on the start of that journey and also have ptsd and I think borderline personality disorder too and I am so inspired to keep learning and understanding it more. All the best for the rest of your mental health journey Justin!
Really wish to have a friend like him, I have all the patience in the world and can unfortunately relate to the borderline part (here with BDD and APD), he has so much insight just I wish much of the insight didn't come from so much suffering. Even though I had trauma in the past I can't imagine what he's going through with PTSD or even being bipolar (at least the manic part), but if he reads this: I hear you. I feel you. And you deserve a golden medal and your moment in the sun for still being here today and thriving. Much love for you, your wife and don't forget your doughnut kitty 😍
Justin’s self-awareness is impressive. You can tell he has put in the work. May The Lord bless you and keep you, Justin, and aid you in continuing to heal. There’s beauty greater than all the brokenness, even though it can be hard to see during difficult times, but it’s there.
Thank you for sharing your story with everyone, Justin. This can help so many people that are struggling with similar issues by just knowing that other people deal with the same issues and that there is help for them. Again, thank you Justin.
I greatly encourage Justin to apply for extracurricular activity grants for his daughter through the nonprofit Our Military Kids!! Thank you for your service! ❤💙
Many thanks for this interview. I was struck by the way Justin depicted how he handles relationships with relatives and close friends by trying to assess the level of toxicity in his behaviour. I will try to keep this in mind and act the same. I was diagnosed with depression, hyper anxiety and cyclothymia so nothing really relatable to Justin's story however his words on this chapter really struck a chord on me. Many thanks again and all the best to Justin

Yes, he’s incredibly insightful! It’s amazing
My sentiments EXACTLY!!!!❤️
Yes, he shared a lot of wisdom. Chris had some really great questions, and even when it felt like Justin hadn't really thought about it before, the interview got to some really deep insights. Thanks, both of you.
Ugh so sweet of a comment!! He is very strong and brave, and im sure you are in your ways as well. 💗
Great comment. Justin, is incredible.
I can tell Justin is an incredible father, it makes me so happy to see someone so aware and active in improving their mental health!
What a sweet comment (that i relate to wholeheartedly). 💗💗
@@malleomusic please go away
Justin, from one veteran to another... Good Job!
One thing that's really simple but I SUPER appreciate is that you put subtitles in all your videos. That is so cool especially for me and other people that are hard of hearing.
As a combat veteran I was nervous to watch cuz I knew I would relate. Thanks for sharing. I do relate, sending love to you and your family
Welcome to the SBSK family! Thank you for your service. ❤️
@@itmika Just stop bruh

This is probably my favorite interview on the channel, I admire how much effort and time Justin has put into getting help and coping with traumas in a healthy way. I like how he pointed out that for people with mental illness, it’s important for them to work on themselves and be healthy as well as for the people in their lives to have knowledge about their illness and be willing to give grace and understanding.
That’s my boy! So glad here’s out there spreading the word about mental illness and how to overcome it
Okay I’m rewriting this because I’m watching this multiple times. I have learned so so so so so much in this video. How you described how border line personality disorder affects you and your daily life and the tolls it can have on your relationships. And the examples you gave were so eye opening. You’re so intelligent and it’s clear you have come soooo far in this life. I’m proud of you and thanks for teaching me so much about what’s going on in the mind.
agreed, the examples were so so so good! I finally understand borderline personality disorder!
YES!!!! ❤️💕❤️
Thank you justin for your service . i wish you all the best ❤
I am so proud of this man. He is so self aware, he has done so much work for himself and another’s. I just hope he’s doing okay.
I'm so proud of you for realizing that you needed help and taking the steps towards making a better life for yourself and those around you. I wish you and your loved ones the best as you continue your journey! And can we take a moment to appreciate the cat?! So cute!
you are a hero, sir. you are so real. and your sacrifice will be felt for generations. i am here right now appreciating what you did for our country. beautiful soul.
This is so so necessary. Thank you for this video, Justin!
"You want this extra stuff?" heartbreaking that he sees the opportunities that he deserves as well as extra stuff
This was wonderful to listen to. Thank you, Justin! I’m so glad you advocated for yourself and found help and support. You are a wonderful dad!
One of your best interviews. Thank you Justin and thank you Chris.
This was the best interview I've seen on SBSK ❤
Wow, this was so packed with great info to understand these disorders. This man is a perfect example of someone “doing the work” to heal, grow and evolve. He is pushing through cultural, social and family pressure to heal. I see you, and the sun sees you. Thank you for honesty and your service then and now that you are educating an infinite amount or people on how to successfully navigate these disorders. And I don’t just mean those with them, but their loved ones, friends and colleagues as well.
Justin you have incredible inner strength, and your music is awesome.
He was so wonderfully articulate and self aware. I learned a lot from this. I’ll be praying for this young brotha.
It's gotta be hard having a brain that forgoes nuance and escalates things to all bad/all good. Thanks for sharing with us and good luck. Also, love that spiked pearl necklace!!
This is one of the most insightful interviews I've ever watched. This war vet is absolutely phenomenal. I could literally be talking myself having some of the same diagnosis. Stay strong...manners and respect to you sir.
I'm a woman with bpd traits and it is so hard and tiring to live day to day. It's been so difficult to control my emotions lately. Thank you for sharing your experience, Justin. It gives me hope...
i feel you... it does give me hope too. you and i WILL get there, itll just take a little time. please hang in there, and ill try to as well. it is hard and tiring but this man gives me hope. we got this
I love this guy's energy. He is obviously dealing with a lot but still comes off very articulate, empathetic and intelligent. Wishing you peace
I’m glad Justin opened up like this. This was helpful in understanding people with these diagnoses & education. I feel like compassion is the key sharing joy in life ,so thank you for telling your story Justin ❤
I have the same 3 disorders and I am grateful for this video.
This was a perfect interview in my eyes.
This man is absolutely inspiring. I just got diagnosed with pmdd and cptsd and am currently looking for a therapist.
I'm dealing with severe depression as well so it can be difficult getting that motivation.
But this has really helped me, a lot. Thank you for sharing with us
I cry watching almost all of these videos but this one has me feeling extra emotional.
“I want people to come as they are, not how they should be” 👏🏾
Glad to say I personally know this guy! Even at Ranger Batt you’ve always been a great hard working guy that took pride in your craft regardless of struggles. Great interview Justin!
Wow he was in 75th RR?

This was a great interview! Justin explained his diagnoses and his feeling really well. I also suffer from bipolar 1 and his description of it was spot on. Thanks to Justin I'm more aware of combat PTSD and BPD.
I may not have served in war my brother but I know what it’s like with border line personality disorder, anxiety, and depression but you I know are more stronger then I am thank u for your service and for expressing your mental health state it’s important to the whole world to know!🥰🙏🏽

I hope more people realize PTSD is real and moral injury is real. F'real. Best wishes finding well being, balance, and harmony in your life.
How do they pressure you into joining the military? I don’t even see any TV ads not that it would matter if I did cause it’s just an ad but I’m just sayin..
@@Jesse-ex6pn you don’t see military TV ads? The parts where you talked about people pleasing and how that affects you and your relationships with people really helped explain why a lot of relationships go the way they do in my life. Thank you, Justin.
That was a very honest video, I’m glad he turned his life around ❤

When he said he’s talked about these things in therapy……that made my heart soar. Veterans deserve mental health care, too! ❤️
Justin, first of all, we share BPD, BiPolar 2 & PTSD, differently from yours, but I do get constant nightmares of what happened to me when I was young. You're 100 % correct & valued about your feelings about suffering with Borderline Personality Disorder. I, too, have NO skin, per say, always overly emotional & feel no control. I really feel for you & I hope your future gets much better.
Justin, you are an inspiration! You may not realize it, but you are guiding others towards self awareness and love. Keep on learning and teaching 💕.
