I have slowly realized these are better for actual edc than regular blades because let’s be realistic that’s all we use them for is opening packages, rope cutting etc.
I guarantee those clones feel like straight garbage in the hand compared to my EXO mini and EXO M. My EXO U just landed yesterday and WOW! For the money you cannot beat it. I went with the orange diamond pattern but I really like the color scheme you grabbed! Great video!
If all you use this for is opening packages it's the best. That's what i use it for at work. Would i hard use it? No. Understand the tools and their limits. It's really fun to use though.
to each their own! The Rexford looks great but 200$ is a bit much for me personally to want to spend on a utility knife... the irony is theres a ton of people that would say the same about spending $70 bucks on a utility razor... but the great news is theres options for everybody 😂
I like this design, but it needs to have a replaceable blade without the extra piece you can lose. I've recently seen an edc utility knife that has a spring-loaded replaceable blade that is one piece. All you have to do is push the top over with your thumb and pull the blade out.
Be careful using it. The blade pops out super easy with very little pressure while cutting. I believe it's due to the butterfly clip that holds it in place. Has anyone here ever experienced this issue? It happened to me twice yesterday while using it.
I've broken down several boxes with this and have intentionally tried pulling the blade out to see how solid it was with no issue..there is a metal nub that slots through the divot on top of the utility blade that holds the blade in place, if your blade came out super easily it is either a manufacturing defect or your spring wasn't fully engaged with the blade..but given my experience being much different than yours it may be worth seeing about a warranty replacement
I want one …. but I do have a Hawk Knives Shortcut that I use at work and it’s essentially the ultimate utility blade holder/knife sooooooooooo, eh screw it I’m still gonna buy one haha
Bummet about the lost spring..Sounds like it wasn't secured properly..I haven't cut through any shrink wrap but I've gone through about a hundred feet of cardboard so far without any issue
TBH I was more interested in the Amazon knife. This Exo U looks like the official gravity knife of the Miami Dolphins.🔪🐬 The Olight Otacle beats them both and can be had for $19.99 on sale.
For a utility knife it is hot garbage and a fidget toy at best. I own the small and large exo m. I do not view either as garbage. Why is this garbage then? The blade change is everything on a utility knife. The blade holder detaches. That is horrible design for a utility knife. And I'm willing to bet they didn't fix the horrendous blade play either. I realize it needs to be loose to open but damn are these exo's sloppy. For anyone doing factory work a utility knife is a must. I bet the blade would pop out on that thing while hard using it.
I don't get any play while holding it and it's gone through several boxes for me already without issue but I wouldn't argue something more heavy duty for those with more heavy duty needs, I don't see this as a industrial solution but for the average enthusiasts needs I think it does the job well..just my observations but I'm curious if you bought one and had a bad experience, let me know!
So you're judging it based on a design and not actual hands on use? I don't disagree I wouldn't use this for hard use. It's a fidget package opener. Which is exactly what I use it for at work. I have no idea how it would hold up to hard use. The blade holder is essentially 3 points of contact tabs. I might try to hard use it while wearing gloves and test it. And when you squeeze it there is no blade play. OTFs have blade play and they work fine.
@@SMS2884 Yes I'm not trusting it based on looks. For casual use it looks fun. Even looks like a conversation piece to impress a coworker. For hard use it looks like a cut waiting to happen. Glad to hear there isn't much or any play. I use utility knives hard exclusively, because blade changes are easy.
@@HarryBallsich I heard the civivi version is really bad. Blade doesn't stay in place at all. Plus the blade change needs a tool. I'll do some hard use and see what happens. I'll post my results.
@SMS2884 The problem with Civivi is the blade is too small, once you put in a larger one that fits better they are solid as. And I'm fine with having to use a tool, only requires a couple turns to swap blades and prefer the blade secured for harder tasks

"I would not turn the U-Haul around." Lol!

I have absolutely no use for this, but I still want one, along with an Exo M.
They're fun carries for sure! My cutting needs are pretty basic so it gets the job done for most of them
I’m a construction worker and I really use my utility knife a lot. You think I can use DeWalt or Milwaukee blades or Stanley
Great review, I just put my order in for the copper speedhole exo-u
Mine just shipped out earlier today. Can't wait and see if I like it more than Civivi's! Too cool to pass up
As you said "What's in the box?" I said "Nothing!" And then it was a trick question lol.
If I was into these utility blades, they would win for sure.
It's a fun 5th pocket carry for sure
It’s okay. Definitely not gonna replace my Rexford R.U.T. For 5th pocket.

Cool video. Can the knife be taken apart rather easily? Thanks.
How would you compare this to other upscale utility knives such as the serge penchenko or the tyrant razr V3? Either way time to upgrade the fastback.
Been using the tirant razor v3 hard use for the last year and a half. Probably the best all ti utility knife available.
Never tried either of those so I can't say
I absolutely love my Tirant, but I might have to say the Civivi is so far better. Just picked up this one. Can't wait to see which one I like more now
What blades fit in the exo-u? Read some people having trouble with standard blades fitting in it.
Regular box cutter utility blades fit, I've tried several different brands without issue so it's not a specialty type blade as far as I can tell

Great EXO-cution on a unique knife!
I see what you did there ..and I approve🤣🍻

Reate Exo U cut test

Oooh a hawk shortcut is on my short list...I keep seeing them available in between knife purchases but one of these days it's gonna line up!
But does it store other blades
It’s crazy. I buy my utility knives at the hardware store where they’re inexpensive.
I absolutely love mine, so much fun!
one swipe with this in shrink wrap and that springy blade retainer is off and lost :/
Bummet about the lost spring..Sounds like it wasn't secured properly..I haven't cut through any shrink wrap but I've gone through about a hundred feet of cardboard so far without any issue
Anyone know if a gravity box cutter would be legal in CA?
Only with the blade removed I think.
@@revengeoftheseth Without the blade it's would be useless.
@@TheGhost00sm exactly what CA wants
pretty sure it would be legal since the blade would be under 2 inches
Who cares buy one anyways
who dies with the most utility knives wins
are these legal in california?
No clue how the state would see this since it's a gravity utility razor
The Oknife U1 smashes that knife for$24 and the action is amazing.
Sold out everywhere 😢
Nice one!
this a a fun knife in hand. clones suck. just sayin😁
It's useful but that orange lock needs to be black.
They've got a bunch of different variants I just thought the blue and orange looked cool😅
