Absolute perfection at live aid. They’re funny. To hear them talk, they don’t think they “wrote” together. Everything for the most part became a collaboration. They always did an accustic set during each show. They were asked to perform this one specifically at Live Aid.
Freddie and Brian wrote this together, Jim Beach suggested it they didn't normally write together but they needed something quick to fill the gap, they had both seen adverts about what was happening in Africa and wrote this the last two albums were all credited to Queen, they all shared the credit and royalties regardless who wrote or collabed on it but it is listed who wrote the songs on the last albums previous to that if they did work together on a song it would be shared credit Freddie would help Roger and John but wasn't credited because it was mainly their song it wasn't co written he wrote Innuendo with Roger and the song oon wiki is credited to both he wrote several songs with John and they both are credited in general they did not do band collabs but there are a few on the miracle also one vision and under pressure with Bowie Brian did write his own solos on Freddies songs Freddie wrote the rest of the guitar parts as well as for John and Roger then tweaked it but obviously they had their own way of playing as Freddie had his way of singing
He chokes up at 3:08. " you know that everyday a helpless child is born, who needs some loving care inside a happy home" I noticed it the day it aired. I was 24 years old
Queen never been a political band, but a few songs and lyrics are just about today...like Is This The World We Created, Innuendo, White Man...People are just not learning on the mistakes, they are doing it over and over again!
Thanks Shawn... always enjoy any Freddie singing... Queen's songs are always so timeless... another timeless classic is "One Vision" or "The Miracle", speaking of peace on Earth and an end to war... certainly applicable to today... Just like Queen, to be so far ahead of their time... or is it we never learn our lessons or change for the better, only time will tell... Love and Light to all.
It's hard on many levels to describe the emotions this performance evokes, not least because I watched the LIVE AID concert with my future wife and we both felt we had witnessed a profound moment in history. Still together after 36 years, 2 great children later, we did our best to create a world that we thought was fair for everybody we met and loved. The times they are a changin', as Bob Dylan sang, but human nature seems to be stuck in the primordial mud. "Too bad she won't live, but then again, who does?" - quote from the movie "Bladerunner". With prayers of peace to you all.
Some songs make me bawl like a baby, fall to my knees and pray for our world. The older I get, the tears come easier and unashamedly. If a great song like this leaves you unaffected, what's the point to it all?
FANTASTIC reaction, Thank You!! And I learned something: I didn’t know about the Greenpeace compilation album.😇 On fame: I think more of the time than we realize, success doesn’t change someone at-their-core; what changes is how everyone else treats them. Freddie said in an interview “If all my money ended tomorrow, I’d still be the same person”. But, even if a person’s rich, there are still problems… They’re just different ones: Freddie said that - re. relationships - he never knew who wanted to be with him just for himself, and not for his fame/money. He would also never enter a room full of strangers on his own w/o having one-or-two friends at his side, because he said he never knew what all those people were going to want from him. (That’s what attracted Freddie to Jim Hutton: Somehow, Jim had NEVER heard of Queen/Freddie Mercury; he had no idea who Fred was/that he was famous.😆) Roger Taylor said fame was a fine line one had to tread: You have to play a part that fulfills the public’s idea of how important you are… while at-the-same-time, NEVER believing for a moment that you’re actually that special/important. And sadly, being rich couldn’t save Freddie’s life, could it?
Brian and Freddie rarely wrote together, both having their own style and delivery ideas but they had put so much aside when making an album because it didn't fit time wise or into the overall mood of the album that there was a little place at the end that needed a little something. Since the album was missing what Freddie referred to as "A limpid Ballad" rather than assigning the task to one person as they generally did, it was suggested that Brian and Freddie just stay a bit late and write something together. This song sounds like it was written for this concert but in fact, the band had been talking about the famine going on in Africa before they wrote it so in fact if they had written a song specifically for this concert, it could not have fit the bill any better. This is absolutely beautiful, I really love this song. In his personal life, Freddie was a very kind, generous, compassionate, shy and caring individual. He liked to be around normal, every day people, not celebrities. His closest friends were just people you would meet on the street, people who did normal jobs, lived normal lives. The man who ultimately became his partner was a hairdresser and continued to work for all the years he was with Freddie. One of his other good friends was a cook and when he was unable to find work, Freddie hired him as his personal chef and gave him a place to live in his home. Freddie always said he loved being rich because he loved spending money but he was very mush a regular guy beyond all the glitz he bought to surround himself. He loved his gardens the most and Jim, his partner/husband tended them for Freddie as he truly enjoyed doing so. Shortly before his death, Jim carried Freddie down the stairs so Freddie could enjoy his garden one final time. Thank you again, for your reaction.
The chef was Joe Fanelli his ex from 78/79 They broke up because Joe couldn't cope with not being open about their relationship They became friends again early 80s Joe also did the tours with him Jim was a hairdresser when they met but didn't like where he worked so Freddie hired him as his gardner
Beautiful and another song very relevant for today is ( time waits for nobody) relevant for today tomorrow and until Jesus comes back and restores the world. Freddy's anniversary of his passing away on the 24th November. Maybe you would want to react to the tribute from the rest of the band( no one but you) it does bring a tear to your eye but you can see how much Brian Roger and John really loved and missed Freddy

the last two albums were all credited to Queen, they all shared the credit and royalties regardless who wrote or collabed on it
but it is listed who wrote the songs on the last albums
previous to that if they did work together on a song it would be shared credit
Freddie would help Roger and John but wasn't credited because it was mainly their song it wasn't co written
he wrote Innuendo with Roger and the song oon wiki is credited to both
he wrote several songs with John and they both are credited
in general they did not do band collabs but there are a few on the miracle also one vision and under pressure with Bowie
Brian did write his own solos on Freddies songs
Freddie wrote the rest of the guitar parts as well as for John and Roger then tweaked it but obviously they had their own way of playing as Freddie had his way of singing

So short but so powerful!❤

First time I've seen this. How powerful. Freddie sings everything from his soul.
Certainly the most significant question any group ever made a song from. LONG LIVE QUEEN!!

This was the laat song of Queens live aid set. Freddie and Brian came out at nearly 10 pm to sing it. It's poignant and so beautiful..
Heute treffender denn je....wenn man das Leid der Kinder insbesondere in den Kriegsgebiete sieht...... Danke Freddie ❤❤❤

Love the guitar work from Brian May on acoustic. He is so accomplished and still performing right now.
We have thumbs and intellect beyond mountain gorillas and macacs. We can be better. Be better, every day friend.

So, when they are children starving because of basic poverty or wars, what do you think of the lyrics?
