    Thanks for watching dude, glad you liked the song! 🤘🏻I can confirm this was in fact all one take, with no video or audio used from other attempts, as well as no triggers or sample replacement used at all, and nothing snapped to grid :) The studio this was recorded at is the one and only John Delfs studio (5 seconds of summer, Lilly Allen, the script etc) called Edge Studios, all mics processed through well over 100k worth of analogue preamps/desk/outboard equipment :) It was then mixed by Nick Sampson and mastered by Mike Kalajian 👊🏻

    Felt you downplayed a lot. Going into a reaction video cold is one thing.. but 2 min prep work between 2 people to read a description before to know that he wrote the whole song arrangement..and the few details about the recording... that's not to much to do right? Also, You noticed the reason in his symbol placement but then didn't put it together in the other things you were critiquing. Posture, feet technique, everything is intentional to make sure every single hit has the precise same exact sound he wants. one take, nothing snapped, no triggers as others have said. Also all the flams and triplet groupings, lead changes and met mod... I wanted to see another drummer go in on that and break it down. "Always thought he was a good drummer" lol.. here let me help - he's a fucking Beast. I honestly thought you'd give this project MAJOR props.

    Chris said that these videos are filmed in one take. He took 3 attempts to film the video, but the one they used was the 2nd attempt. The take that you see being filmed for the music video, is the same take that is used to record the track for the album. So if you were to play the song on Spotify, and then opened the same song on TH-cam, all the hits would be perfectly in sync.

      @lucca123ful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would agree with that to a certain extent. I really don’t mind if a player openly admits that they comped a bit of a section or even used triggers, but actively deceiving your audience and saying you are just “that good” passes false expectations onto drummers. Making you compare your playing to something which is almost unachievable normally. I’m not saying Chris has altered this track necessarily, but I really wouldn’t be surprised if he had. Super clean and loud playing of some of those fast phrases is REALLY hard to achieve

I just said I wouldn't be surprised if he actually has done some adjustments in post production. If you compare the videos of him playing live to this is soooo different, and way more clean in this recording. Again, not trying to shit on the guys work, insane playing regardless

    From his indiegogo campaign:
    No triggers or samples used. No hits snapped onto the grid. All songs must be one take, start to finish with strictly no drop-ins (he gives these instructions to his collaborators as well). No miming or pre-recorded audio/video, all lives takes.

You didn’t seem to enjoy the track or the video because you were fighting against having your mind blown by the technical, articulate mastery he laid down. GOD tier drummer this guy.
    But i really wanted to ask you a question on a seperate subject Wyatt, and L too if shes around to answer. I watched your reaction to the architects track "black lungs" and listened intently to your monologue about how your opinion can drastically change upon further listening. I just wondered if i could get an update on your stance on that track now? Both of you? i was more or less luke warm towards it on first listen like you guys but have grown to love it, for the lyrical content mostly but also for just being a great track. You guys feeling any different on it in comparison to your first listen?

    I have to say, I've sat on my throne at different heights all throughout my career and it is way easier pulling off those fast double bass parts when sitting higher rather than sitting lower at the kit.

    From someone with a biomechanic movement background, higher knee angle actually means more of your leg is lifting, IE more hip flexor and quads, the lower your knees are under your hips the less upward movement your knees have, IE less hip flexor. You've got it backwards.

    6:08 i watched a video where him and his producer were talking and chris said something like he gets about 3 to 5 uses out of his cymbals. On top of that not only does he not use samples or triggers you almost cant put a compressor on him either. More than -3dBs on the threshold and the drum sound is destroyed

  • @conorpatterson9124

    At 14:31 he talks about the hi hat close he does but doesn’t mention the fill before I don’t know if he realized what that whole thing was before the whole fill was a disorientation for the 3 measures of metric modulation he did super super cool effect and extremely hard to do Chris is a beast for sure !!!!

    Do drummers get shin splints? I would think Turners method would lessen the chance if they do. I get them sometimes from my job and bro they suck ass soooo bad also happy holidays to all 😸🎄

    the 350z at the beginning and the name 40 roll refers to street racing. Where you would start the drag race at 40mph vs from a dead stop

    Chris is a monster player man! Another reason to tilt the cymbals back is to have cymbals setup low while sitting high. Striking down isn't hitting edge because the cymbals are so low. Kinda like traditional grip drummers tilt their snare away because of the angle the stick strikes.

    If you are as high up as Chris is, angling the cymbals that much just makes them flat so are they really that much risk of cracking/breaking?
