    One question - average fresher salary in 2007 -15k per month
    Average salary in 2020- 12k per month.
    Inflation has increased. Cost of living has increased. But why salary has decreased. It's confusing. Can you explain?

    • @BIGFATMANTRAS
      @BIGFATMANTRAS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very Meaningful Question and would love to answer that. Salary graph mentioned is of Mumbai and Delhi for the year 2007. Since 2004 till 2014 Architecture was at its peak in India. A lot of cashflow was happening within these years in Construction. Even Architects were paid very well during these years. In my company I knew a guy with 3 years experience getting 45k salary.
      Well today in cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore starting salary in in the range of 15k to 25k (25 is rare). But since demonetization real estate has become slow which has effected the Market along with Salaries.

    • @roasterblaster6660
      @roasterblaster6660 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BIGFATMANTRAS sir tell me one thing .. would you expect a 1994 fresher architect salary in 2007? Than why should we expect even lesser than 2007. The average inflation rate for last 10 years has been 5 %. By that what 15k meant in 2007 is 27k in 2020. Even then we are told to feel happy for what we get. 25k per month is bare minimum salary for an average graduate. I know tons of examples where people are still struggling to pass 30k mark even after 2-3 years of experience. Architecture is a creative field. If everyone is made to think about Survival than where will the creativity we generated from? You can't expect to survive with bare minimum wage and be creative at the same time. Creative nature of humans is most prevalent when all the basic needs of humans are met. This is what age of renaissance is telling us.

    @debanjanadas5477 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Useful Information sir.
    Good to know that in 2008 you were offered 15k/month as fresher . Because in 2020 , firms are offering 15k-20k /month salary and their desired candidate should be 2 year exp with proficiency in every possible software and regardless to say site supervision also.
    (Though not all firms but I would say most of them).

    • @BIGFATMANTRAS
      @BIGFATMANTRAS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's TRUE. In 2008 construction market was at its peak and there was a great demand for Architects. Even small firms could afford Fresher Architect for 12k-15k. This is not the scenario right now. Construction market was badly hit in the last few years. That is led to this sludge in the market. Even if I am out for a Job in the market today I will not not be getting a salary compared to what I was getting 5 years back. But it will rise again

    🤔taking into inflation and cost of living 15k salary in 2020 is a scam isn’t it . 15k in 2007 is a lot of money . So if we are spending 10 years establishing practice and earning money isn’t setting up a business better in that case to earn more money ? I feel for a professional course the salary is not justified .

    • @BIGFATMANTRAS
      @BIGFATMANTRAS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You are absolutely Right. Real Estate Market was at its peak when I passed out. We really earned well as freshers and ahead for the next 5-6 years. But now Market has slashed and effected not only real estate by every other field. Hope post COVID it will see a different turn.

    1. The problem with Architecture is that this field has remained stagnant in the past one decade. The supply is much more than the demand and even in 2022, people are starting their career with a salary of 15-20k per month.
    2 In 2007, scenario was different as there were not so many architecture colleges and freshers were paid a decent salary. 15k in 2007 is respectable while 15k in 2022 is much below the bare necessity.
    3. Many Management/IT Grads are starting their career with a salary of 1-1.5 Lacs per month while Architects from the best colleges are earning in the range of 25-30k as a freshers. This is expediting the trend of leaving the core field after graduation. Today you will find that a majority of the grads of NIT/IIT are leaving architecture and going for a higher degree on UI/UX/Management/BIM etc.

      Computer science and architecture are two different fields if u want to do architecture you should have that passion , there is lot of petience you require in this field. In computer science it's generally one place seating job but in architecture you have to go on sites also
      Don't choose architecture if your considering salary , if your painter you can earn penny to carores as u grow your skills it's also same way in architecture
      Best wishes

    • @narmeenmodi4515

      If you select computer science you will have variety of options to select from like Artificial Intelligence to data science and many more and later you can work in any health care sector, corporate, gaming or any other sector. And your basic salary approximately right now will be roughly 20k but if you clear some automation tools or Languages coding and other certificates then you might earn even 30 40 50k initially. Looking at future career expansion, you can gain masters and shift to another country and earn even more. infact, there are companies where you can get transferred to different countries after you work with them for certain time. Also you don't need any license approval on shift of country. It is right now one of the most preferred job. It also gives you better work life balance from start of your career as you have 9am to 5pm jobs with weekends off. It is more of a job oriented field. Where only few start their own startups. It is a new emerging field where the world is shifting everything into technology.
      Coming to architecture, even here after B.Arch you have variety of options to choose from. You can go into product design, interior design to huge scale like urban design. You can also get into construction management and many other associated fields. Later you can work in either architectural firm or interiors firm which is basically as a design oriented firm or join a MNC, or opt for freelancing (which isn't easy immediately after you graduate, unless you have many contacts). Coming to salary, I am an architect from hyd and basic salary here in 2020 for junior architect is 15k to maximum 18k and only few firms provide you 20k salary. You can also go through the comment section of this video to analyse the salary increase in current scenario with the increase in no. of years of experience. There are few certificate courses that can increase your value and knowledge like RIBA for green building architecture. But that doesn't give you a much change in pay. Looking for future career option, masters doesn't give a huge salary hike in india. Talking about abroad, if you choose to study abroad and come back to India to work, then Council of Architecture doesn't validate all masters degree. They have a list of few universities only whose masters course is directly valid in india. And if you are planning to study there and work there as an architect and get licensed then that isn't easy at all. As eastern countries have most of their construction techniques based on wooden structure, which you don't get to study in detail here, creates a barrier. Also the unawareness of government bylaws makes a difference. Also each country have a different set of rules for one to get licensed as an architect, which generally takes either n no. of exams to pass or work for 5 7 years in their country and then write the exam for architectural license. Coming to work timings in india, majority of what I have seen is you struggle and do many night outs during your college life and many firms mention that they close by 7pm or 9pm but only few hand full are fixed with their timings. Rest of them just prolong your work hours everyday. During my internship in Pune I used to go back home not before 9pm(this is minimum) where as my joining offer email mentioned end time as 7pm. In this field mostly all graduates prefer to work under some experienced architect for few years to gain knowledge as studies doesn't match with reality much and later most of them open their own firm. So it's majorly a business oriented field. It again depends on which stream of architecture you are mainly diving your career into.
      I hope this gives you a better clarity of what the streams look like. Frankly, if I would have known this reality before starting architecture that after graduation salary is 15k in 2020, which isn't enough for our expenses. Many earn 50 60k after 5 6 years of experience which is way less than any other field. Specially when you spend soo much time and effort and money to reach at this basic point. I wouldn't have opted for it may be. The rest is upto you guys. Just think before joining as it isn't a small course. It's a five years degree and you need a lot of patience and passion to survive. All the best😊
