I want to clarify, I'm driving on Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4's which are rated for cold temperatures and light snow, learn more about them here www.michelinman.com/auto/tires/michelin-pilot-sport-all-season-4 . Again for my personal use case, driving on straight, flat, and occasionally wet roads, these tires are perfectly adequate.
An additional Pro Winter Tip!: clean all the door seals with some kind of degreaser and then treat them with silicone spray or paste. Apply evenly all around the seals. This will prevent the doors from freezing stuck against the car when you go to open the doors when it's sub freezing outside. Additionally I recommend you do this treatment to your trunk and even hood to prevent the same issue!
I randomly saw a TH-cam notification and I saw you posted. I watch you way back when you were at around 2,000 subs and years later you are killing it man. So happy to see that, you are such a kind soul and are so educational in your videos.
Genuinely I am saying , cleanest f30 in the world definetly yours .Looks so clean and beautiful with proper spec .Also proper treatment from your side.
winter tires are truly a life saver, even when snow is plowed out of the way.. Even on dry, but cold roads, the winter tires perform way better in breaking, which could save you the next front bumper. Furthermore I like to have winter rims, which are more beat up from the salt and where it's not as bad to hit a curb that was covered in snow. Will definitely check my sunroof drains the next time, but I don't know, why you go through so much wiper blades. Mine work fine and I've never changed them.
I’ve been watching since before I even bought a BMW, currently on my first with a 328i E90, and I’m about to get an older E39 540i, and I’m thrilled. Best cars on the planet
I just bought michellin Crossclimate 2 (Allseason), I couldn’t get the sport all season 4’s where I live, also another tip is to put in antifreeze so the water tank doesn’t freeze, expand and break, good video thumbs up 👍
This is great stuff. The information regarding the sunroof drains is really useful. It’s the same way with MkIV Jettas. What a nightmare. Now I occasionally physically blow them out with a length of tube. Then I tweak the “nipples” to release any trapped water/debris and make sure they’re clear.
Just don’t try to drift the awd models.. mine did a 360 one night after a fresh snowfall 🤣. Had a 128i rwd before and it drifted so easily like it was built for drifting!
Started watching you when I got my own n54 335i. Was an absolute blast and your videos were so genuine, helpful and overall made me like many other subscribers keep returning. Watching you grow from a few thousand to over. 300k ! Amazing work bro keep it up. Almost convincing me to buy an F30 now 🤣
To all the E46 drivers. If you have constantly foggy windows from inside, especially the windshield, check if your cabin air filter is wet. If it is wet, chances are pretty high that your windshield wiper cover is porouse or is just not sitting right. That way, the water will go under that cover and run straight onto your cabin filter, resulting in constant humidity flow into your cabin. In the winter you will be greeted with iced windows from inside. Much fun.
Said it before, but I smile when I see you have a more "simple" vid posted, knowing that your F30 is doing just fine. I'm in Jersey not too far from Kies, & I've also never ran snow tires in my life & we get plenty of winter weather here. Also, thanks for reminding me about that can of Fluid Film in my garage I keep forgetting about! ✌️🤘
Great video coming from Justin as always and all of these tips are great but I would recommend for those like me that live in colder climates where there is a lot of salt on the roads, to every time rinse your car after a drive just to make sure that salt doesn't stay on your car and later on cause rust. Edit: I saw someone do this with their bmw and I have been doing it with mine and my brothers and so far everything has been great.
Greetings from Latvia, Europe! Hi Justin, I've been following your TH-cam channel since the e90, because I also own two BMWs - an e90 and an f31 model, and previously, an e39 Touring (yes, yes in Europe mostly is popular estate wagons😆). You're doing a great job with your cars; keep it up!👍 I'd like to make two comments about those OEM floor mats - please cut those transportation edges (there's a scissor symbol). I don't know why, but a lot of people do not do that. Secondly, when you change a car's battery, you need to code it to the car because the car has an IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor) that regulates charging. If it's not coded to the car, you can easily damage the new battery. Good luck with your future work on your car!🚗😎
I like what you do and generally like that you love what you do which is teaching us about how to take care and maintain bmw’s. I personally just don’t know if they are cars that you should own if you don’t know much about cars. I feel like you have to absolutely love bmw’s and read up on their most common problems and look forward to paying a small fortune to keep it from getting messed up. I had a bmw and made the mistake of putting water in the coolant hole and I ended up damaging the car, causing it to overheat in the middle of the freeway. I really regret what I did to it but I feel like eventually something would have happened. Like I said you need to know a lot about, not only cars but bmw’s specifically. I still enjoy seeing your videos and it gives me motivation to improve my old 1995 toyota tercel.
I’ve been subbed for a few years now, I honestly don’t even remember but it was during the E90 days. You really inspired me on getting one and finally got a crimson red E90 back in 2021 that I unfortunately started parting out a month ago or so because of the amount of issues it had (past owner sucked). I also did buy an F30 335i back in March and I’ve been so happy with it! It’s the same color as yours (I honestly forgot you had a white F30 in the moment) and I do plan on doing an m sport conversion so your videos have helped persuade the wife;)
No hate brother but I'd really look into winter tires. They aren't solely for driving on snowy & icy surfaces but rather the cold temperatures that come with winter. Winter tires typically use a much softer compound in order to maintain elasticity in freezing temperatures (they stay softer in the cold compared to a summer compound), which helps maintain grip. Keep in mind It's illegal to drive on summer tires in the winter where I live... (I hate the winter lol).
Hey thanks for the insight. I’m on the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 which are rated for light snow. I’d never drive on summer tires in the winter. I made that mistake in another car and the tires were useless lol.
Justin I’ve followed you now for a few years I love your content. I am Living in Canada which means I am conditioned to suffer through winters as you are in Michigan. There is a light at the end of your tunnel tho. If you really want to winter prep that beauty you’ll acquire a trailer then you’ll do a diy video on the installation of a trailer hitch and document your move to Florida and never have to worry about shifty snow or salt again 😂😂
Winter/snow tires are important! They're not only for snow, but for cold temperatures as well! Under a certain temperature (can't remember the number, close to freezing), the rubber compound of summer tires, and even all season tires, looses its gripping properties and can cause you to spin out (even on dry pavement). Also, since cold makes rubber harder, you end up wearing down your tires faster. Winter tires have a different rubber compound that is less efficient in warmer weather, but wayy better when it's colder! So they might wear out faster when it's hot outside, but not when it's cold, and you'll have more consistent grip when it's bellow freezing. Also, I'm not sure what tires you currently have, but if you have summer performance tires, it can almost be dangerous since they're way more affected by cold temperature and will wear out extremely fast. And if your 340i is RWD, slipping is way easier. I'm don't know what temperatures are like where you live, but if they're close to or bellow freezing for a long time, you should really get winter tires. They're mandatory in some places for a reason!
I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4's. They are rated for cold temperature and light snow. www.michelinman.com/auto/tires/michelin-pilot-sport-all-season-4
Was waiting for this video. Got my dws06+'s on some newly-picked up 437M's!!! I'm ready for the elements. That Griot's process looks superrrrrr worth and interesting!
I always do a full detail on my cars just before winter hits. Full snow foam, wash and dry. Wipe down paint with degreaser/wax remover then apply a fresh coat of wax to last through winter with regular washing.
This is a great tip. One last deep clean before the weather turns. Sometimes I’ll even change the oil a little early if it would be due in the dead of winter
Justin! Every new video brings lots of excitement and crucial information and I so appreciate the good work you and Bryan are doing. I have a 2013 328i XDrive and I live somewhere in the tropics (Accra, Ghana - West Africa). Any advice/suggestion on the best product for underside anti-rust protection? There seems to be rust all over my differential and couple of bolts and a section of the chassis/frame around the engine seats. My car came from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Have all season tires Get a remote start installed if you don’t already have one equipped If you have RWD don’t drive in snow that you don’t see other cars driving on
I had sunroof drain problems on my e90 😂😂 that is forsure a good one for the winter time. Also the battery is good to check on ur car. My battery was 8 years old when u replaced a few months ago😅
Not sure about the F30, but the E90 has four sunroof drains - the two in the front pointed out in the video, and two in the rear that run through the C pillar.
you could have opened the moon roof further for that moonroof drain hole portion of the video where you pop up through it to give yourself more room. After the moonroof opens all the way you can press the lever all the way back one last time and it will open a little further.
I just tested it out and all four door drains are still draining properly. Cars actually have oil in the doors from the factory but after years of rain/ car washes, that oil needs to be replenished (or it will look like the pictures of my Avenger). You just want to do it when it’s warm enough for the fluid to level out inside the doors.
Hey man don't know if you'll see this comment but I have an E92 and when it gets really cold outside the interior door handle becomes really flimsy and then I can't get the door open- when I then put my car in the garage to heat up the handle sets itself back into position and has resistance again/works normal. Do you know what part I need to replace this issue? the exterior door handle works fine. Thanks!
Does your door lock work when it's really cold? The handle is connected to the lock actuator which is a common failure point on E9X's. On my E90 I used to have trouble with my lock/ handle in cold weather

Wonderful video and helpful advice except for the tyres. The tyre compound hardens with dropping temperatures. This makes your grip decrease. That happens as soon as you hit about 7 degrees celcius therefore winter tyres can be very helpful as soon as the weather becomes that cold and if there is snow already, then it might be a little too late already and winter tyres are required so it confuses me that you say that you didnt have the need for winter tyres yet, especially with a rear wheel drive BMW. Here in Germany we have laws that prohibit you to drive with summer tyres in the winter as it is a huge safety concern. I know that in north america lots if people are using all weather tyres but those are quite weak if there should be any more snow than shown in the video, although they can be better in those temperatures than summer ones.
Lmao funny you said that your battery vid exploded recently. I might added a couple of views... :D my F30 suddenly didn't start - no crank, no start... I changed the battery right away coz it was 6 years old, but yet nothing. Probably my starter died on me. Had to tow the car, which deserves another story since F30 can't be put into N without lifting the car. :D Waiting for my mechanic to diagnose the actual issue :| As always great vid btw!
Started watching you for a few weeks now. But I wanted some advice. I have a 2006 325i, I’ve tried looking for information on it but no luck. Where would you recommend me to start looking?
Why does the engine "howl" when it is in P (idle), it is felt inside the cabin like the sound of a mobile phone vibration, sometimes I increase the intensity, and sometimes the bass feels weaker? Please advice? ❤
You could try Adam’s glass sealant. I have not used it myself, but I use their other products and I’ve been happy with everything I’ve tried from them.

Also, apply to new wiper blades to keep them pliable!
Just use a silicone stick. If you use a spray and it gets on painted surface and you have to repaint it sometime your paints hop will kill ya 😂

Don't use silicone sticks for this, silicone is bad for the rubber.

Always providing quality, info packed videos. Along with easy-going vibes. Great stuff Justin 👍🏼
I appreciate that!
It doesn't snow here. lol, but i kept watching the video because of your vibe man. Great video and great piece of machinery you have there!!
Thank you!
The all-wheel drive in Ohio snow is perfect with just all season tires. It's amazing how well the E90 can handle the snow!

will not keeping ur car in the garage during winter cause more rust?
the rust in the winter is cause by road salt getting on metal parts and not being washed off immediately

The Griot's glass cleaner isn't available on amazon (canada) you got any other brand/products I should try ?
You could try Adam’s glass sealant. I have not used it myself, but I use their other products and I’ve been happy with everything I’ve tried from them.
