It warms my heart to know that there are folks out there riding tractors and listening to Conan. Lol Some wholesome caricatures really do exist. The world truly is unpredictable.
@@jc3001 "Sheltered", eh? Lol Personally, I'm too broke to travel and too focused on building my own life in order to get the chance. I just haven't had the pleasure to be exposed to such oddities yet. Although, where I'm from, manners are a thing.
DUDE! I live maybe 30 minutes from Benton Kentucky and I'm sitting there listening to this guy thinking "no guys, this guy is real there are about a thousand of this guy floating around my area" AND THEN LO AND BEHOLD! This guy comes in and says he's from Benton Kentucky... I can tell you this guy is genuine and probably the nicest guy you would ever meet in your life.. I really really enjoyed this.. I started this video at a medium and now I'm feeling like I'm going a mile a minute... CONAN BRING BACK DOING CENTRAL TIME NEW YEARS EVE!
I grew up in Frankfort Kentucky and we had several exchange students in my High School. They enjoyed themselves so much that some even returned back to Kentucky for work and marriage. Kentucky truly is the heart of America.
I believe you bud. I spent this past summer in Danville Kentucky working as a travel nurse and these were THE NICEST people I've ever met in my entire life. I mean just good, salt-of- the-Earth people. I had perfect strangers offering to help me with the littlest of things. I plan to go back next summer to get in a little more fine Kentucky living.
I LOVE how Conan is pleasantly surprised with Arnold's witty banter back like my fav is "you want the original recipe or the extra crispy." PLEASE HAVE ARNOLD BACK ON!! You two are hilarious!
This reminds me of the times Conan would discover random people and keep having them on the show, like Wing Pang near the end of the Late Night era. This is like a new incarnation of that concept, just a podcast version.
We want more Arnold and Conan. I was shocked he was a real person, too, Conan. Sona and Matt just havent been through the dirty streets of Boston like you have, ol' pal. One of the funniest podcasts ever though, highly entertaining. You're doing good ol' boy, see!
Well now you also discovered you've got some cynicism in your...root it out 😛I wanted to believe he was a real person, and just kinda had that as my default lol. Just delightful that they actually followed up.
Man, I wish they'd fly this guy out and get him on the show as a guest. I want to see that video, this is just really lovely! Be fun to see them interact in person.
I was born in southern Indiana and left there so long ago I have no connection to it anymore, but dammit if Mr. Arnold Smith just brings a smile to my face. I believe this guy is real, it just feels so authentic. Some of the best people you'll ever know are from places like Benton, Kentucky.
Sometimes the best content Conan has produced was just engaging with everyday people, like on Conan abroad. Arnold is a national treasure, I hope they have him back :) 😍😃😍
11:10 Conan having a personal growth moment. Sona's look is like "What is happening... is he showing... feelings?👀" 11:25 Conan "I'm so funny and so smart-" Sona & Matt and realization of what he was doing. 🤣🤣🤣
On behalf of every listener of this podcast, Arnold needs to be a regular recurring guest. If anything remotely related to Kentucky, tractors, farming, Bucko, crow etc. is mentioned on the show in the future you guys should call Arnold right away. I'm pretty sure he will answer.
There were a couple of points where this conversation got pretty real, like when Arnold was talking about offending people or losing control of "it". I wish Conan had dug into that a little bit, but the whole event seemed like it was rushed. Here was this guy with a naive power, and he's looking for guidance. That would have been a really good conversation.
As a Kentuckian, I can confirm Arnold is legit. There are a lot of Smiths in Benton, KY (between 4 and 5 percent of the people in the area are named "Smith") and there are a ton of small ponds.
I beloeve you. I feel like you're the kind of dude that really would want to listen all day to Sona laughing. Perhaps over some fava beans and a nice cianti.
When i heard this last week, I didn't think the guy talked that different - then this week i know why - he's about 20 miles down the road from me. Gosh i guess we do sound country. 🤣
This is where Conan is at his best. Interacting with ordinary people he knows nothing about. The show could just be random people the podcast finds that Conan periodically checks in on. Way more interesting than hearing an entertainer promoting their latest project all of the time.
Ok at first I thought the voicemail was Nick Offerman doing a silly country accent for Conan. But I was definitely mistaken! You can tell right off the bat that the gentleman is one of a kind! He could probably have his own show! The Arnold show right from Kentucky! That was very entertaining to listen to! 👍👍👍
There's something magical about extracting comedy from natural conversation and interaction. Comedy is just an underlying part of humanity and socializing that really helps offset the cynicism and sadness tht comes with the negative aspects of humanity.
I admit I thought he was doing a character, also. I saw the previous clip, and was like “naw….” for the same reasons Conan had. But, Arnold seems like a sweet genuine guy. Good on him!
Arnold seems like a genuinely funny dude. Go for it buddy! Get to a stage with your observations, sprinkle in some of that fantastic wit. Could be big!
Someone needs to go through all of the episodes of both the shows and the podcast and collect all of the stories Conan has made up about his life, like in this one, I'm paraphrasing: "there was a time, where I roamed the streets barefoot in Kentucky". He's thought up so many by now and they're all ridiculous 😆😂 I love it.
I love Arnold but this felt like a social engineering episode, getting his full name, where he comes from (presumably birthplace), his birthday, name of his tractor (you never know)... surprised they didn't get his mother's maiden name!
The one thing I can say for sure is that this man sure knows how to milk something. I don't know if it's a cow or a bit, but boy can this feller milk something.
This was an awesome random interview. So many life facts said by Arnold! I want to hear his comedy where he is worried about crossing a line. By his demeanor I'm guessing 99% think it is hilarious.
It warms my heart to know that there are folks out there riding tractors and listening to Conan. Lol Some wholesome caricatures really do exist. The world truly is unpredictable.
I highly doubt that it is real
Listening to this while we finish harvest in Canada, we’re out here listening!
That's right Bucko!
I think it's funnier that people are so sheltered that they've never met anyone like this.

Conan and Arnold. The comedy duo we didn’t know we needed.
I don't know about you, but I have always been saying that Conan and Arnold should work together.
To be honest, we don't!
@@dkkoover you Barbarian! 😀
they're good together. should bring him back
Andy is killing it with that accent
Teehee
bwahahahaaha
🤣
Nearly burst a blood vessel laughing at this.
😂😂😂😂😂 Now I need to know if Andy and Arnold have ever been photographed together. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Imagine if Arnold did an LA accent at the end just to mess with them a little bit as if it was all an act after all 😂😂
I wanted that so bad
I wish they asked him if he can do any accents
That’s what I thought was about to happen when he said he would roll them at the end. But then, “Hello” 🤣
Boston accent would be even more killer.
Yea, sign off with such an accent and hang up 😂

CONAN BRING BACK DOING CENTRAL TIME NEW YEARS EVE!
Never been prouder to be from WKY. 😂 PS: I miss Conan's central time zone New Year's too!
I was a foreign exchange student in KY. When I heard Arnold's message I immediately thought that he is real.
I grew up in Frankfort Kentucky and we had several exchange students in my High School.
They enjoyed themselves so much that some even returned back to Kentucky for work and marriage.
Kentucky truly is the heart of America.
@@Rickydiculus funny, because I live in the "original Frankfort": Frankfurt, Germany. I was in Monroe County.

I think I enjoy Conan’s interviews with regular old folk more than celebrities. ❤
Same!!
Yes! I've started only listening to the fan episodes
Except Timothy olyphant and Paul Rudd. They're awesome!
same
I LOVE how Conan is pleasantly surprised with Arnold's witty banter back like my fav is "you want the original recipe or the extra crispy." PLEASE HAVE ARNOLD BACK ON!! You two are hilarious!
That little celebration from Matt once they knew it was a real person was precious
This actually turned out to be very wholesome 🤣
"I hope you fell for my little scheme. Did you? " That's a Mr.Burns line right there
He said Mr. Burns was his favorite to write for
“ARNOLD EH?”
So thankful to Arnold for asking a relatable question about comedy. Loved hearing Conan’s sincere answer, as a comic genius.
Arnold has a lovely voice. They ended up having a surprisingly heartfelt conversation!
I literally spat out my water laughing when Arnold said 'people aquarium'
This reminds me of the times Conan would discover random people and keep having them on the show, like Wing Pang near the end of the Late Night era. This is like a new incarnation of that concept, just a podcast version.
One of the best guests Conan has ever had! They should call him every few years now.
Arnold has such a beautiful deep voice and his accent is just so good, he should do readings, or just talk about stuff. I would most certainly listen

REMOTE REMOTE REMOTE! We NEED one! In KY with Arnold and Jordan.
yeah he should come back
“it’s a solid shape, it rolls” that killed me! I’m surprised they glossed over it
Gourley’s winded praise of Sona’s Footloose bit is my wholesome feel of the week

Love this! I hope they connect with Arnold again in the near future once Conan has a new show
On behalf of every listener of this podcast, Arnold needs to be a regular recurring guest. If anything remotely related to Kentucky, tractors, farming, Bucko, crow etc. is mentioned on the show in the future you guys should call Arnold right away. I'm pretty sure he will answer.
No, you only get one vote. Not everyone wants Arnold as a recurring guest. One time was more than enough of that.
1000% support this idea ... i would love it
I'd love a segment "Arnold's Update". Already I'm curious what other statuses there are beside 'medium'.
There were a couple of points where this conversation got pretty real, like when Arnold was talking about offending people or losing control of "it". I wish Conan had dug into that a little bit, but the whole event seemed like it was rushed. Here was this guy with a naive power, and he's looking for guidance. I am so glad the Arnold mystery has been demystified. An in person episode with Arnold would be amazing.
I'm glad we got to hear back from Arnold.
This was great! Arnold has a wonderful voice
As a Kentuckian, I can confirm Arnold is legit. There are a lot of Smiths in Benton, KY (between 4 and 5 percent of the people in the area are named "Smith") and there are a ton of small ponds.
Straight
I'm not convinced yet. Are there also a lot of Smiths stuck in small ponds?
This was incredibly wholesome. This podcast is so good
Sounds like Ron White trolling Conan, lol
This has been a roller coaster of emotions for me. I’m really glad we got to the bottom of this.
this guy is hilarious. just his choice of words and his chill southern persona. people aquarium wtf lol
I could literally listen to Sona laugh all day. Perfect. Kind. Decent. Best laugh ever. Thanks Sona.

What a great segment! Truly authentic and teachable, BUCKO!
That was so sweet, I think we need more Arnold interactions
This is so wholesome! Love Arnold and his tractor! 💕
Really wholesome and fun conversation. Surprisingly insightful, lighthearted, and heartfelt.
I love it, I knew Arnold was legit. It was a fun good intro and bit for a quick voicemail like that. Hi Arnold! 👋
Arnold is an unexpected comedy treasure!!
This was lovely, and I hope they have him back on.
Arnold is the backbone of humanity. I’m a skeptic also, if you ain’t asking questions you’re part of the problem’s troubling this world.
✌🏼
"its a solid shape it rolls" honestly had me cackle a little bit
Bring Arnold as a regular! He’d be a perfect sidekick and remind the country there are funny and talented people everywhere
Ohhh my god. I fricking needed this conversation so much. Thank you, Conan, Arnold, Sona and Matt!
So, Conan is from Boston, two meters tall, irish, red-haired and O'Brien and he's suspicious of a guy for being too archetypically... archetypicial.
When i heard this last week, I didn't think the guy talked that different - then this week i know why - he's about 20 miles down the road from me. Gosh i guess we do sound country. 🤣

Heart-warming call.
I LOVE Sona hearty laugh. That alone make me laugh myself
Sona is so nice and her joyful laughter adds a lot to my enjoyment of the show
Please call Arnold every few months to check in on him!
This is great! It's like the podcast equivalent of a Conan remote video.
I don't know if I'm more convinced or less convinced
Yes.
conan should absolutely get arnold on the podcast... i'd bet everything i own, that arnold has a beard or big mustache
overalls... hes definitely wearing overalls
I knew this followup clip was coming up and was hoping he'd called in via zoom or something but that's ok.
@@geeayy222 I would venture to say he is as well…
Up until the very end I waited for Arnold to reveal he’s just putting on an act
I'm still not sure whether Arnold is genuine. I feel like if we had video of Arnold maybe it would be more obvious.
How did he get the phone number for the show? #Suspicious
That was really nice, funny and beautiful. Thx to all of you guys
Gotta love Sona. "You ready" Instantly "No"
chaotic good
What a genuine soul!
What we need is Conan and Arnold trying out all the 16 speeds of Rosie the tractor.
Lol, Sona with the best comment. Tractor Chicken. No hesitation.
Conan, we need you and your writers to work with him to put together a tight 5min set and have him do it over Zoom.
That would be amazing.
I live 10 miles from Benton, KY. Trust me, Arnold is a legit Kentuckian.
Matt's celebration and glee are the best!!!!
If Arnold doesn’t get a weekly spot I walk.😂
100% I still don't believe that's a real person.
me too. i think there will be more to this.
It has to be a troll. I was just waiting for Arnold to yell "BAZINGA!"
then you must not be from the south, dime a dozen out here
It’s very real. Just leave your house more

A lot of my family in MO sound similar to Arnold. I love that they captioned Arnold.
Could you imagine the gold it would be if Arnold and Jordan visited a working farm, possibly a co-op?
I hope Arnold becomes a regular on your podcast! he is a fan fav already!!
Even if it's a real guy, it's still clearly a Norm Macdonald character
He's still trolling Conan from beyond the grave! Imagine what he's doing to Andy from the spirit realm!!
I wish the end was him doing a bit the whole time 😂😂😂
I was expecting that and I’m a little let down tbh!
Plot twist: it's Jordan Schlansky, doing various accents and caricatures as payback for the Kevin Nealon prank call.
This was absolutely fantastic I love this podcast so much
As a German, I can confirm that this is indeed Arnold

This podcast should be 100% i) Conan Gourley Sona + ii) CGS talk to random southern folk
We need a Conan Travels to Kentucky with Arnold segment.
I just watched Conan talking to Kevin Nealon... I don't blame Conan for his doubts hahahahhahah
As a born and raised Kentuckian, I knew the accent the second I heard it.
