I would absolutely watch that format, with one tweak - they have a camera out in the hall filming the guest getting more and more frustrated, and every so often Sona has to come outside and tell them it's gonna be just five more minutes.

The best part is that they wouldn't clear it in the end even though I'm fairly sure Pure Prairie League would have been cool with the plug for their 1975 song.

I gotta be honest, I was shocked at first that Gourley didn't know "Amie" but then I remembered one of his favorite live shows was Def Leppard and it all made a little more sense.

I think Conan and Matt could team up on a bunch of different podcast projects. They could do a great history podcast. Or talk about music like an album of the day. Or travel around. The two of them road tripping to president's homes or random small towns and just riffing.
I would love a history podcast by Conan.
This show should just be Conan listening to music in his earphones while we see a rolling subtitles and complete silence.

If you've ever listened much to a classic rock station, you've heard the song Amie. I'm younger than Gourley, and I've heard the song many times throughout my life.
I recognized the song right away. It's on a lot of those satellite stations that are playing in stores. When I was growing up, it was on the local oldies station.
It's funny when the only reason you recognize a song is because you hear it every time you're in the grocery store! Totally understand.
@@fieonshakespearenut As I said, I initially became aware of it because it was on the local oldies station. I didn't first hear it in a store. My point was that it's a song that's kind of ubiquitous, so it's weird that someone would not be aware of it.

Instead of changing the format of the show, make this idea a separate micro podcast called "Conan O'Brien Needs a Bandmate." Anytime you have a guest who's a musician on CONAF, you record this separate segment as bonus content. The podcast starts with Conan and Matt very seriously talking about how they need a bandmate, then they ask their guest a music related question as part of the audition process. Two seconds after the guest starts to answer the question, Conan and Matt should just launch into a ditty they wrote and ignore the guest. When the song is finished, they should confront the guest about never joining in despite not having any instruments and not knowing their song. If the guest ever does try to join in, stop the song immediately and confront the guest about how awful they're making the song sound with their contributions. The podcast always ends with a very upset Conan asking the guest to leave because they either won't contribute or because they "don't understand the material." Sona, naturally, would always play devil's advocate for the guest.
Thanks Conan for getting me into Pure Prairie League. Amie is nice.

Wonder what Eduardo's thinking by now. He was probably at first thrilled he got a job as audio engineer for Conan O'Brian. Next, he wonders why he's being seated at the end of the table alongside Adam and Bley (instead of working behind a booth). Then the door is locked. Then he realizes that he's there as fresh human fodder to be skewered and eaten by Conan, all on TH-cam. "Get me outta here!"

i don't think i've ever seen having to remove copyrighted music done so well before. give the exact title/artist/year of song so that we can just look it up and listen to it ourselves (anyone who knows how to use the internet can find any song for free). thanks team coco, you're the best. copyright is useless when every piece of media is available for free. i love the internet.

Amie is a very popular song. I was born twenty years after the song was released, but I've heard it on the radio my entire life.
Twenty years after the song was released was nearly thirty years ago from today. There are whole adults now who never grew up listening to classic rock, classic rock radio, or radio. It's not surprising the song is now pretty much unknown amongst a room full of people.
If Jeff Goldlum returns once more, we NEED to see (or hear) him playing a piano or keyboard with Matt and Conan playing backup and Sona singing gibberish in Armenian.

I didn't recognize this song at all until I looked it up on youtube. I remember the tune, not the words.
Today, I randomly heard Amie on Alexa (no lie) and all I could think about was Conan's rendition. I could not stop laughing. I never knew how funny that song could be!!
Everyone should be ashamed for not knowing Amie because it is an incredible song.

I think it should be a format where Conan and Gorley determine worthiness of guests, and thereby create competition amongst potential guests. Tom Hanks, “we made him sit outside”. Ed Sheeran, “we made him sit outside”. Pauly Shore, “we jammed with him”.
Book Vince Gill, who was in Pure Prairie League, and spend the whole time playing a loose interpretation of Amie. I would listen.

This is one of the best segments they've ever done.

Conan recording alone, literally alone without guests, engineers, phones or computers. Just alone with his thoughts as he is driven into madness. The podcast opens with a fan letter and goes from there. For at least an hour. Maybe he gets some paper and crayons so he can still doodle / write back.
They need to have Tom Hanks show up with a guitar and just play in the hallway while completely ignoring them.
I can't believe no one else knew that song! I'm 50, was born in 1972 when the song came out, but I still knew it immediately, the first time Conan sang it. So much great music seems to be disappearing from our collective memories. That's really too bad.
