Merry Christmas everyone!
My brother arranged the piece. My family sang it.
Please no bad language in the comments. We want this to be family friendly:)
We really hope you enjoy it:)
Lyrics:
[Verse 1: All]
We three kings of orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain
Moor and mountain
Following yonder star
[Chorus: All]
Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy perfect light
[Verse 2: Casper]
Born a King on Bethlehem's plain
Gold I bring to crown Him again
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to reign
[Chorus: All]
O star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy perfect light
[Verse 3: Melchior]
Frankincense to offer have I
Incense owns a Deity nigh
Prayer and praising, all men raising
Worship Him, God on high
[Chorus: All]
O star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy perfect light
[Verse 4: Balthazar]
Myrrh is mine its bitter perfume
Breathes a life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone cold tomb
[Chorus: All]
O star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy perfect light
[Verse 5: All]
Glorious now behold Him arise
King and God and Sacrifice!
Alleluia, alleluia
Sounds through the earth and skies
[Chorus: All]
O star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy perfect light
Here is our version of "We Three Kings!" We hope you enjoy it. Merry Christmas!
Clamavi De Profundis could you guys plz do the lament for the rohirrim
Clamavi De Profundis Amazing song!
Merry Christmas to you guys, too! Amazing, as always. ;)
Merry Christmas to all the family!
Aanndd...now my favorite version of "We Three Kings."
I love how the verse about myrrh becomes almost like a funeral march. It just hits so different.
the best rendition of this verse I've ever heard: the tone of Balthazar's voice and the somber way the music is played genuinely makes the words come alive...the sacrifice the Lord Jesus was destined to make for each of us.
The three verses evoke so well each of the gifts. The first one is a sort of triumphant regal march (gold). The second one is almost like a temple choir (incense). And the third is like a funeral (myrrh)
I once read through and studied this one, and it's more an Easter song in the last two verses.
Few things make me cry but this is so beautiful , hopeful, and tragic.
You know, it is said that the myrrh that Jesus received as a newborn is the very same myrrh that they covered his body with for his burial. It's a beautiful song, and it gives me chills when the verse from Balthazar starts.
This is 2024. This is one of my favorites at Christmas as it not only honors Christ's birth, but reminds us of WHY He was born - to save everything created, ALL HIS creations.
The thing is, WE choose to LET Him save us - or suffer as He did after our judgement by Him.
When Balthazar 'speaks' you can feel that he's trying to say "I'm sorry what my gift simbolyzes, but I think you know that you'll need it".
well put
I applaused
He only needed it for 3 days.
I wish i had such voice
I think that he was buried with them, or is that just some story my nana told me?
May God be found by all who see and hear this song.
The Messiah has come! Rejoice!
His life and path are set and done. All of it done for all mankind!
Merry Christmas, the Messiah has come!
Go with God's grace.
Go with peace.
Amen.
Amen ♥ HalleluJAH!!!!
Glad you're happy! Keep doing what works for you!
I'm an Indian and can't help but listen to it repeatedly. I love the three different voices of kings, providing special idiosyncrasies to the track. Awesome work! guys
Christ shed his blood on the cross for all mankind 🙏
@@sarahburggraf907 and then after all that, after the chronic disappointments we've been for millennia, after refusing him and his miracles, after crucifying him, he still came back to us and will do so again. Wild
Merry Christmas Indian
How is the fact that you are Indian relevant
Rejoice at the coming of the Messiah.
Go with God, go with peace.
I love the switch when Balthazar sings, and THEN THE GLORIOUS TRIUMPH OF THE FINAL VERSE
I picture Balthazar as entering with some sort of walking staff/cane, and kneeling before Jesus, as tears streak down his face. The heavy silence that follows him comes from people noticing his odd walking, possibly the shuffling of a foot. A striking, yet dignified presence.
He wasn’t at the manger . When the wisemen made it Jesus was a toddler
@@trolloftruth2941 Good point. Editing the comment.
I didn't realize how much hearing the old carols sung as they were supposed to be sung would mean so much to me! I am so tired of the "modern" singing of sacred music, which is not sacred at all. I got chills listening to your rendition. Keep up the fantastic work! I found you because of the LOTR and The Hobbit music, but finding your recordings of Christmas music has made me a fan for life!!
Its called the holy touch
Listen again in prayer
I miss the classical style for carols as well. Too many modern carols loose the emotion amidst the rattlings of faster beats and 'modern' sounds!
agreed, you know how hard I actually had to find a version of this without some jazzy twist to it?
Yes!!!!
Myrrh is my favorite part. It is a stark reminder of Jesus' mission to pay for the infinite debt man had against God for sin.
"...and I brought you myrrh.
Murder!"
Always remember if you don't sin Jesus died for nothing.
(This is a joke)
God should never have set up the world to start with a ridiculous fall over a triviality + make everyone get born sinful by no fault of our own, in the first place. The whole primitive sick story is immoral.
@@conscienceaginBlackadder Do you prefer no will of your own?
@@EzekielDeLaCroix I prefer a will of my own over whether not to sin, than to have my free will taken away by the obvious injustice of getting born incapable of not sinning.
Whether it is a christian hymn or a Tolkien poem you guys sing songs like they should be!
@Phoenix How is Sauron's eye the gate to hell? It's just an eye... of Sauron.
Uhmm "Courtesy of God"? Have you ever even read the Bible? First off, Hell is not a place, its simply Eternal seperation from God, from all that is good. It is brought on because of rejection of God, his creation of you, which is, in essence, denying your own existance (or blaming it on a random explosion from elements that didn't exist, randomly producing a trillion perfectly balanced ecosystems made up of evolving slime which magically knows how to provide for itself, reproduce, etc, and that over time slowly turns into a free-thinking, extremely intuitive human being... yea.)
Oh, and newborn babies have very little sense of right or wrong... thus comes into play the age of accountability, which is basically a standard for when a person knows enough about moral law to be judged according to it.
Just saying, kinda awkward of you to use such an analogy...
@Phoenix So Tolkien created a gate to hell?
I am starting to think that Christianity should be qualified as mental illness
@Phoenix Yeah... I mean when someone says that Harry Potter stuff exists, they are mentally ill.
But going around talking about Space Daddy that created Earth in 6 days even though we have proof that he didn't is ok... Smh
I love how Casper’s singing and the music behind him is Royal and majestic. Appropriate for the one honoring Him as a King.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS HYMNS! THREE KINGS CAME TO BOW DOWN AND TO WORSHIP THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS! BEAUTIFUL!
"Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men." (Luke 2v11-14)
Amen🙏❤️
My dad is an astronomer, and he says that the 'star' the wise men followed was the planet Jupiter, since it was in the right place at that time for it to lead the wise men in the correct direction. The star could move because it was a planet. The star then appeared to stop over the place where Jesus was, since at that time the Earth was overtaking Jupiter on the inside (our orbit around the Sun is faster than Jupiter's).
The wise men knew to set out on their journey because the positions of the constellations and of Jupiter (called 'Righteousness' in Hebrew) told them the time was right. Jupiter being the star would also explain why no-one noticed anything unusual, since the planet is an ordinary object in the night sky. The only difference this time was that its position relative to the other constellations was meaningful to the wise men.
Are u an atheist
Although, supernovas don't move, and more people would have noticed if there was suddenly a super-bright star in the sky.
If you love a good story read The Book of Mormon. It’s about Christ’s appearance in America to a remnant of the Jews after his resurrection and appearance to his disciples in Jerusalem. It’s epic.
Hey did you know we will be able to see that same star (Jupiter) this December 21!!!
well December 21 for Philippines, im not sure which date for u guys
The verse about Myrrh gave me chills
Seriously, I had no idea what that verse was about until listening to the words here.
I felt it too. It reflects the story of the death of Jesus Christ. 😔
It sound kl tho
Myrrh does have a very odd scent.
Love how it does that. It makes you be aware of its forbidding, forboding tone, and that it symbolises death and sacrifice.
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ!
This is biblically innacurate they weren't kings and it also never says they came in 3
@@contrerasisrael_2895 he said Praise the Lord Jesus Christ did he not?
@@jpraise6771 it's not a reply to what he was saying

What a glory of God is the cross.
Thank you. Forever and ever.
I love the old paintings especially the women in the blue and the baby. The innocence that contrasts with the soldiers on the right
If you’re interested, it’s the Adoration of the Magi by Gentile da Fabriano, which can be seen in the Uffizi Gallery in Firenze. It’s one of the most emblematic and beautiful pieces of so-called international gothic art from the early 15th century : )
Interesting thing about the story is that they were not necessarily kings but wise men. Likely Astrologers as they are also called Magi meaning wise men or magicians. The Christian symbolism often not noticed due to rewrites to the song is that the three gifts have very specific significance. Gold is given to a king from which can be made a crown referring to a halo. Frankincense is an incense burned as offerings to many mythological entities in the region and is still used today in many religions ergo the perfect gift for a deity. Myrrh is very strong and was often burned at funerals to cover the smell of the deceased. Remember this is in a hot climate long before modern embalming so..... Anyway to give something associated at funerals as a gift at birth would seem strange but this obviously foreshadows the death of Christ. Note that Frankincense was also burned in sacrifice to gods so again it all ties back to the story of Christ sacrificing himself for humanity. Lastly the final verse highlights the glory of resurrection after the rather gloomy foreshadowing. I'm always a bit upset about the song being chopped up to make it shorter and more marketable as the story is lost. Ironicly , I'm not even a Christian... I just love a good story and am over educated.
Wow, you know the symbology better than I have ever heard it, and I go to church every week. Thanks so much for such an insightful explanation!
Well Marcus, I believe that you have been chosen! We love because He first loved us! You did not choose me, but I chose you (John 15:16).
Impressive
Close. They're called "Magi" because they were Zoroastrian priests in the story, of a religion forgotten by most in the west but once one of the world's largest and the first of the monotheistic religions. Christianity got most of its Messiah schtick from Zoroastrianism through Judaism during and after Judaism's "babylonian exile," which slowly rendered the Messiah from a warrior-king of the Jewish people to a world-savior in line with the Saoshyant. The reason they turn up in the story if they didn't actually turn up in real life is to give Jesus legitimacy as the Saoshyant, because Zoroastrianism was *huge* at the time.

Love the hymns. Praise the birth of his son JESUS…..
I thought you should know that I showed your video to my students last year, and not only did they beg to watch it again and again... this year, they are begging for it again! They began asking for it during Advent and have been impatiently waiting for Epiphany (tomorrow) when I have promised to show it again. The fact that so many students remember it after all this time is incredible. I show my students a lot of recordings of church hymns and liturgical music, as well as silly songs to help them remember concepts in other classes, and I don't think I've ever had a song be so well remembered. Most of the time, no matter how big a hit the song is, they forget all about it within a few weeks! You should be proud!
THIS is what I came for. Give me that grandeur of days of old. That archaic, Latin, holy sound. I do not know the word to articulate how I feel about the sound, but it is that sound that you get when you play a piece on a massive church organ. You receive it a lot differently.
I really, really like this arrangement. The different feel to each verse that carries into the chorus is beautiful.
The best version of this hymn out there! God bless you all with a great Christmas!
I loved this - thank you so much for bringing me joy this holiday season. Merry Christmas to all!
One of the best versions I have come across yet... I love that it is performed as Hopkins originally intended- with three voices each singing a solo verse by himself... and yet blending beautifully in the first and last of verses and, of course, the refrain. The interpretation and timbre is perfect. Thanks, Guys!

Merry Christmas from Georgia to you, Jimmy! My Dad and I had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful State of Pennsylvania last year to tour Gettysburg. I would love to go back one day!
One of the most beautiful Hymn ever written 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for this lovely rendition. This was my favorite song that my now passed grandfather would sing every year in our church's Christmas Cantata along with my dad and pastor. So nice to be reminded of him.
I absolutely love how these men sing this beautiful song. ✨💙🕊️🌲🤍🌲🕊️💙✨ The Lord Bless these men & may the season be merry & bright!!!
How could anyone not love and bow down to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. a slave of Jesus
The part about myrrh made this very relevant when my wife was in the hospital with her mother dying of cancer during Christmas. She lived a few day after but it was a pretty miserable Christmas without them and looking after 3 kids by myself.
it is so nice to hear actual Christmas music, so much now is just about buying stuff.
The deep bass really pairs well with the dark tone of the verse. This is the best version on youtube and the only version I will listen to/have listened to for a few years now. Thanks for sharing!
This was always my favorite of the Christmas songs, it had reminded me of the way my dad would sing the Tolkien poems when he read those stories to me as a kid.
Featuring bass as Balthazar was a smart choice
This is the most worshipful and relevant version of We Three Kings I have ever heard! I love how you captured the message and story of the song through the music. Thank you so much for sharing!
Relistening each Christmas... Wonderful beyond words. Perhaps, you could do Remember, O thou man at some point?
Amazing rendition! There's NOTHING that can stop OUR unparalleled Lord and savior from receiving ALL of the praise and glory. Stay safe everyone!
Powerfully arranged and presented. Thank you! Praise to our Lord Christ Jesus!
Without a doubt the best version I've heard of We Three Kings! Merry Christmas CDP!
Mario Lanza?
Yes this is my favorite version as well! I listen to it all the time! I love that it's not all happyish like all the Christmas songs. It makes you think of all the lives lost for all of our countries to have peace instead of war! This is such a beautiful song
Amazing! Magnificent!! I absolutely LOVE the solemn tones in this rendition of 'We Three Kings.' The Bass Voices of Kings, as they re-tell their part in the story of Jesus's birth, are accentuated by a deep, low, rich, and slowed background of Cello string and Drum percussion. A PERFECT COMPILATION! Sooo GOOD!
And for the first time this Christmas, I cried while listening to music. Thank you.
This takes me back to my childhood in Nigeria in the early 2000s. When I was in primary school, we would do choir rehearsals during Christmas and this song was on of my favorites😊👏
Merry Christmas CDP! As a bass singer I find your music inspiringly beautiful, as a Catholic I love hearing your chants sang so awesomely and as a Tolkien lover I literally play your music whenever I’m reading the books! Have a wonderful celebration over the coming days!!!

Hello family. Please forgive me for not having said this for a while, but I've only been able to inspire myself to do that now. It is indeed an honor for me to hear such wonderful voices that are yours. I must say I've cried a lot by listening to your songs. I would like to thank you for sharing this special gift that God has given you. And I'd like you to know that, like Tolkien, I intend to be a good fantasy writer. Believe me, the songs you sing, the poems you give new life, have been a great inspiration to me.

This is one of my all time favorite Christmas carols, before this version I had not heard it done in parts. Really brings the story of the three kings to life, thank you so much and a very Merry Christmas to you all.
This is also my favorite carol. Before this, the closest I have ever heard it done in parts the way it should be is in the Claymation Christmas special, of all things (though they omit Balthazar's lyrics and have him sing the last stanza instead).
Lyrics :

Born a King on Bethlehem's plain
Gold I bring to crown Him again

Over us all to reign

It's bitter perfume breathes
A life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone cold tomb
Glorious now behold Him arise
King and God and Sacrifice
Al-le-lu-ia, al-le-lu-ia
Heaven to earth replies
O star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding

I have listened to this song my whole life... but this is the first time this song made me cry on Christmas day... especially the Myrrh verse.
can't tell you gents what hearing your rendition of this song means to me, every Christmas. Thank you, God bless.
Peace to men of good will.
Thank you for this music.
this song makes me feel close to both my people and my faith thank you truly for this
I loved this song when we sang it in elementary school, it’s bizarre how I’ve never heard it again until now. It’s very good.
I'vs had this beautiful Christmas carol stuck in my head for days but could not think of the song name. Finally came across it.

By far my favourite rendition of this song. I listen to it every year.

You guys really do love your fan base. Thank you!!!
Fantastic singing actually gave me goosebumps
If they sang mass like this I'd go to Church. Thank you for your wonderful work.
Try looking for a "Solemn High Mass".
Look for a Society of St Pius X chapel nearby.
You can allways get in contact with your church, statt serving and after a while you'll sertainly be able to make suggestions. (Especially if you are Protestant)
I weep every time I listen to this version. Glory to God in the highest.
Best version I've heard of this song. The modulations are awesome and giving each section its own stylistic identity really takes it to the next level and rewards repeated listening.
by far the best rendition ive heard. I feel like this song needs to be sung by men. It adds depth.
I can't help but imagine how the parents would respond to this at a Kindergarten Nativity:
Gold: "Aw, look how cute Johnny is with baby Jesus :)"
Frankincense: "Wow, Arnold can really hit those low notes!"
Myrrh: "TREVOR! WHERE DID YOU GET THAT KNIFE??!"
As a Steiner child this brings back Christmas festivals and a world where we didn’t have to worry about anything at all
Gotta love subtitles...somehow "glorious now, behold Him arise" becomes "ultima rice cake surprise" 🤣
Thank y'all so much and blessed Christmas!
HAHA

We sung it in our little church, three guys, way when, and I still find it very moving, the only light in this world. the Christ-Truth.
I cannot truly explain the awe and wonder I have for you all. This rendition of the carol truly sent shivers up my spine and brought me to tears! I greatly enjoy your music, regardless of whether it be traditional carol to Tolkien's poems set to music.
