As Christmas is right around the corner, here is our version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen!"
We really hope you enjoy it:)

@@CantusTropus I'd bet good money that, at least in this song, the treble voice is a boy. They may have a sister that sings in some parts of other songs, but the timbre of this voice just sounds like a treble boy.
The higher voice is most likely a boy. I don’t have much of a background in music, but I know in traditional choirs, the sopranos and altos are young boys (especially in England)

I'm still waiting for someone to do "O come o come Emmanuel" in the style of a war song.
The closest I've heard was Theocracy's metal version of it.
But still, the "hero arriving on the battlefield" sound should be in a lot more christmas songs.

Pentatonix covers really annoy me. They take the soul out of these powerful humans and replace it with shallow and glossy production. It honestly makes me ill

Soweit ich das einschätzen kann war Tolkien selbst überzeugter Katholik, welcher seine Geschichten durch die Mystifizierung des Christentums geformt hat.
So oder so das Lied ist dennoch große Klasse ^-^

Although I cannot deny that there are also some parallels to the bible in Tolkien's work, most of it is based on the Edda of the nordic people.

You are completely right that there are similarities between the Edda and the Myths created by Tolkien. But for me there are mostly about the visual manifestation of landscapes and creatures not about the soul of the story. ^^

uhm.... allergic reactions to anything x-mass related due to the over-playing of the music starting a month back every year for the last 10+ years? just a guess at a possibility, after all i nearly have that reaction to anything related these days but i still found this pleasant so...

I guess some might object to the topic of the song despite liking the tune (oh hi), but that also seems a silly reason to Dislike, since they didn't write it, they just sang it.
Cause its religious garbage? I didn't dislike it, mind you....but I can see why people would. Fed up, in so many levels, of religious crap.
The counterpoint section isn't great. It didn't bother me that much, but I could see people disliking it on that basis.
Here's a family-oriented comment: This is music for making merry during the advent of our Lord. Be merry, ladies and gents. Festivities abound at the coming of our Hope.

This is awesome in the correct and original sense of the word, meaning "inspiring awe." God Rest Thee Merry Gentleman is one of my favorite Christmas songs right up there with the Huron Carol and Why Do The Nations Conspire from the Messiah. Good job, Profundis!

The most medieval version is the best version. Also, Are one of you or multiple of you Scottish?! Its quite a thick accent.
They're a family, so if one of them is Scottish, you can bet the rest are too..

I love that feeling, when you click a video with such an anger you almost forgot, why you feel it the first place. Then you listen to that video and without even noticing it the anger falls apart like an old, heavy, uncomforty cloak and you sit smiling in your chair, not even remembering that cloak...

I love this. I can almost picture Bilbo and company singing this! There's something about an old Medieval Christmas carol that just sets the right mood.
This version definitely does one of the coolest Christmas songs in existence justice. The vibes are so heavy (in a good way).
(Also gotta say I love the accents. It really adds to the weight of the words.)
"X-mas" isn't taking the Christ out of Christmas because the "X" was put in place to refer to all of the other Christian masses and ceremonies that happen alongside Christmas. In other words, it's actually putting more Christ into Christmas. Merry X-Mas!!!!
Also, the Greek word for Christ begins with X, so it's more or less just using the first letter of Christmas, like if we were to abbreviate it as "C-mas"
