I can't press those buttons with the mouse (I can select the text, so the mouse is working, but I can't push those buttons). And if I try to use the keyboard, any key will just toggle/untoggle the drive format.
After a recent Windows 11 update, SmartScreen (there's more than one in Windows Security\App & browser control) also prevents installation, and you need to disable those options as well.
First off - Thank you for the Medicat project & it's excellent noob friendly install routine. Need some help in understanding & to hopefully fix my Medicat USB install. I used the most current install.bat and 7z Medicat files - turned off my win 10 defender for the install which appeared to install fine with 0 file errors and 0 missing files reported by the QuickSFV file scan. The USB drive is labeled MediCat v21.12. The Drive when booted appears like the install was successful & all is well. The problem I am having is Under the Live OS menu and selecting the Mini Win 10 the launch routine seems to *sometimes* create a Drive Y: which allows the portableApps icon to launch the portableapps pop-up menu but confusingly then on subsequent Medicat USB boots does not create the Y: Drive & one can not launch the portableApps from it's icon which is looking for start on Drive Y: How to fix this variable & inconsistent Mini Win 10 launch & configuration?

Put your Live ISO ( or Windows wim files) files into the 'Live_Operating_Systems', in their own folders (I made folder names with no spaces like 'Ubuntu24Live')
So win11 extract all failed - some filename too long. I was hoping the installer could get what it needed from the 7z file. Seems not. Looks like install is downloading everything it needs. See you tomorrow.
I would like to install Medicat but so far it has failed 3 times and in doing so bricked my 128Gb flash drives. If the drive is recognised by File Explorer it returns a ‘No Media’ message but has also failed to see the drive at all. I have tried most if not all recovery methods suggested on the internet but nothing brings it back. DiskPart can see the drive but indicates it has no partitions just a single volume but can modify/delete/create anything. Anyone have any other suggestions?

But now like in Ventoy, I tried to change the background in Medicat, but I'm getting an Error when starting the USB. (alloc magic is broken at 0xb1cbb180: b1d41a37). Hi, unfortunately by following your instructions the installation failed. It should be mentioned that the realtime protection of the system where you are installing from should be disabled. Otherwise some of the packages will be blocked by the microsoft antivirus. It should be mentioned also that the size of the disk should be at least 32 GB. I tried to install on the 16GB stick and it failed. Using fastest usb stick on earth gives the rest of us with normal sticks the impression that something is wrong with the installation. For demo purposes use average devices to estimate timings, you can cut the waiting at editing.
Can someone recommend a tool in Medicat to restore a windows system image from a network location, when other methods have failed to connect to the network. (other tools are missing network drivers)
i was told by admins on the discord that the "installer" literally just copies and pastes stuff into the folder on your usb... because mine kept failing to finish and failed the check sum... its been a while after giving up since i tried again so im going to try again. is this true?
I believe that was me who you were speaking to. That's a very oversimplified explanation. It also installs ventoy and verifies the files but yes one of the steps is just extracting the file. You can easily follow the manual install instructions listed on the site docs.

Ok I'm currently extracting and am having filling in the blanks on each folder. Not sure why so many were missing or why it failed to fully transfer after several attempts in the past though. I think I used the "bottles" software to run it but it's been a while so I don't clearly recall for certain. Well once I make sure it's all in there it should just work right? So how does somebody undo the install plus fix all my devices that it's infected after installing it for linux bc I got my chromebook back and it's all I had access to bc they said my other PCs needed new builds. So my chromebook leads me to medicat. And I installed it onto a USB and tried running it on my windows pc thinking since I installed it onto a USB it'd still work. It did the linux prompt, not only that but I later found a Wireshark network on my windows pc after I had ran that. And now... nobody on github will help. I posted about it on the community forums and got blocked for 7 days. And my processes on my linux says "mini-jail" etc, I can't update or fix missing repositories, seen many videos about the RSN key being leaked which turned out they had hijacked my ISP router... so... now what..?

I don't know who else to reach out too, and don't know how to fix it bc I don't know linux enough to reverse whatever happening. I can't update anything. @MON5TERMATT when I go to the forgot password section and have it send a code to sign in it says it isn't the right code. But it's wild because I noticed my chromebook has tasks on the task manager that was like , system /init/ and had like an unstable version of android running and then had like app processes inside that. I'll try to get on discord once I get home. But last few times I tried it sent me a code then tells me it's the wrong code.

fyi, runnign the exe gave me an install bat file, but that just said I didn't have permission to access the server. I made sure all my vpn's and defenders/kaspersky were all off, same issue. I nagged the install bat file from github and that seems to be working at the moment. (behaved more like this video described) ;-) windows 11 with plenty of resources and everything else seems to be running okay. didn't restart, but copying the bat file from github seems to show the issue is elsewhere. good luck! :-D

Medicat is just a custom set up of the Portable Apps Software . Medicat is bloated and allot of the apps are old . Portable Apps Software allows you to choose which apps you want . Medicat comes preloaded with 30gb of apps most of them bloat.
Besides being super wrong about the just a custom setup of portableapps. You can easily modify the USB to how you want it. That's the benefits of Medicat is it's super easy to customize.
Portable Apps Software and Ventoy is all i use and i have the same options as medicat and with less bloat software. I choose what apps i want. I dont want five defrag tools and mutiple other tools that do the samething which medicat has allot of. I use 5gb on my Portable Apps Software instead of 30gb.
Not complaining stating my opinion is all . Which is medicat is portable apps + ventoy and is full of bloat and also makes you turn off you active protection to install it . @@MON5TERMATT

How big is medicat? Like how big of a USB do i need, i have a 256gb, but i doubt that's the appropriate size.

Probably either firewall or antivirus. I would definitely make sure all of that is disabled and then also check which files are missing.

It can indeed be an enclosed M.2 drive. That's the recommended setup in my opinion.

Most external M.2 cased drives have a USB connection and should work fine.

Well you haven't posted on my GitHub as there are no issues open relating to that. As for Wireshark that's not Medicat.

That's weird The batch file is exactly the same from the EXE and the github. I'll have to check the server for issues

Medicat is just a custom set up of the Portable Apps Software . Medicat is bloated and allot of the apps are old . Portable Apps Software allows you to choose which apps you want . Medicat comes preloaded with 30gb of apps most of them bloat.
Besides being super wrong about the just a custom setup of portableapps. You can easily modify the USB to how you want it. That's the benefits of Medicat is it's super easy to customize.
Portable Apps Software and Ventoy is all i use and i have the same options as medicat and with less bloat software. I choose what apps i want. I dont want five defrag tools and mutiple other tools that do the samething which medicat has allot of. I use 5gb on my Portable Apps Software instead of 30gb.
