Could you please resume/explain what happened in The Devil Inside, because I'm French, and living in France. And in the country is BLOCKED. It's the only episode which is blocked, and it annoys me so much... I've seen everything, even the ones in Canada (season 16),buf not this one 😭😭😭
Also your analysis was really great, I agree with you. He is fascinating, but he frightens me too... And as you said, he isn't crazy (in my opinion), he is just... I don't know 😭 he is just weird and too much curious? And dangerous also because of this curiosity :') I hate real serial killers, but when they are in a show, when they don't exist, it's different. And Gillies, is an asshole, BUT, he is also an amazing antagonist :')

Yes! So basically in The Devil Inside, that's when Gillies takes over Mr. Foley. They all think Gillies is dead, but he wires a tap inside Mr. Foley's head and pretty much convinces the man he's possessed in order to get him to Murdoch and Julia. After that, they realize Gillies has been alive all this time after Mr. Foley dies and discover all the wiring in his brain that Gillies did. So they're on a manhunt for Gillies, and Murdoch comes across him after Gillies takes Ben captive. Gillies asks Murdoch to kill him because he was hurt so badly in the fall off the bridge. Murdoch refuses and ends up capturing Gillies and takes him to be hung by the noose, and this time, they succeed.
Thank you so much for your comment!! 😄

I really liked your analysis and I am still angry he died. He made the show more interesting and brought so much drama in it!

I just found this after working on a project that primarily revolves around Gillies and wanted to give it a gander as its rare to see anyone talking about this show online. I did wonder however why his very obvious queercoding was dismissed given the first episode is modeled conceptually after Hitchcock's Rope as well as his discussion of the kiss on the train bridge in The Devil Inside. He does make it relatively clear he sees Murdoch as "... The object of my admiration and ardour" rather than just a distraction.

My wife and I have watched every Murdoch Mystery but, we are tired of Gillies! Now, I see that in season 17 episode 5 , Station House of Horrors Dr. Ogden goes to a house of horrors where she finds that Gillies is still alive. It's bad enough that the writers refuse to kill off Ralph Fellows but, if Gillies is still alive, the show is no longer believable and isn't worth watching any longer. Yes, Fellows is still alive. He had a dead body on ice to use as a substitute and a pile of hay next to the so called vat of acid so Julia would fall in and it would appear that he fell into the vat.
God, I could write better than the writers! The writers are running out of plots and it's time to end the show. Seventeen seasons is enough.

Btw gillies doesn't actually come back alive in season 17. That whole episode is a series of nightmares. It is well known that Gillies died, once and for all, in The Devil Inside
