The best thing about Mega Man were all the cool Robot Master Bosses! Did you know, almost all of them were made by kids?! Each game only had 8 that made the final cut, but what about the thousands that fell short? Get Equipped with some knowledge! Time for look at some of the robots that never made it past Dr. Wily’s Drawing Board!
The brilliance of Mega Man lies in the selectable stage options present in every game. There is no “Stage One.” You are free to start and in any order you like. There is no increase in difficulty either, at least not until you clear all 8 stages and move on to Dr. Wily. (Or Sigma in Mega Man X!)
Each stage boss, known as the Robot Master has a weakness: the special weapon of another boss, while a few are vulnerable to the Mega Buster. Knowing the weakness helps provides an easy path to victory. It is the perfect recipe that has kept Mega Man going all this time. What is surprising to learn is that nearly all of the Robot Masters were made by fans! .
According to Gaming Lore™, it all goes back to the very first game.
In Rockman 1, as it was known in Japan, there were only 6 Robot Masters, all developed by Capcom in house. That’s a fact, just play the game. Beyond that, the story becomes less verifiable. It has been suggested that this first game was not very popular, and the head office at Capcom only gave the Green Light for a sequel, on the condition that the other games already in progress came first. This forced the development team to work on Rockman 2 on the side, overnights and on weekends. I don’t fully believe the story. Rockman was a very popular game in its day, selling over 800,000 copies in Japan alone! The game was so popular that the original manufacturing order sold out! Forcing Capcom to quickly order a second run of cartridges, which was heavily advertised with the release date of March 4th, 1988! I *can* imagine Capcom telling the Rockman 2 team to get the game done along with all the other work because… have you ever worked in Japan? If so, you know how that goes.
But in that time crunch, a brilliant idea was born. Create a contest and farm out some of the work all at once. The audience would deliver thousands of designs. The staff could have a large pool of ideas to draw from, and maybe save a little time as well.
All of it promoted the next game in the series in a unique way - first, announcing a new game before its made, then selling that game, with the most input from gamers ever seen! And for those who entered, a chance to see their designs and names on the screen. - เกม
I'm actually the american winner. Windman looks similar to what I entered. My Windman was a skinnier robot but I'm just happy to win. We didn't get a copy of the game for winning but we did get a clock of our character with our name on it. A T-shirt a pin and some neon markers all of the mega man logo. Our names are also at the end credits as our character's designer. I eventually bought 2 copies of the game. One to play and one to keep.
That’s awesome! Wind Man is my favorite stage of the game and Mega Man 6 is my favorite of the 8-bit games. Did you ever get into graphic design as a job?
@@GTV-Japan sadly, no. But I did get into game testing for a few years later on. I am always checking to see if Windman or my other entries make it to future mega man products. Lol. Windman has my favorite stage too but fighting him was a bit of a let down when I beat him my first go. A bit easy but a thrill none the less.
DAMN!! Congratulations, Man.
You're a part of Megaman history
@omenpyro458 that is still amazing that you fought your own character! For me it’s the music that makes the stage so great! I felt like the last man standing when Instill had my NES hooked up with MM6 going in the summer of 94, while everyone else moved on to 16bit.
I can't imagine how cool it was as a kid to win a contest like this and see your own robot as a boss in the game. This is a kid dream. I suppose you lost your drawing from that time? Did you keep the megaman goodies?
Yes, I really DID submit Pot Man to Nintendo Power in 1992! Did you enter that contest too?
I didn’t submit to Nintendo Power, but I did submit my own Robot Master idea to Capcom when I was 8. This was around when Mega Man 2 was out. They politely declined my submission but sent me some Mega Man stickers and thanked me for my submission. One sticker was Mega Man on item 2 and the other was Mega Man shooting a crash bomb. I put that on my Mega Man 2 cartridge.
I did submit a design I worked on with my Dad. “Fan Man” which, in retrospect, was a copy of “Air Man”. The important thing is: I had fun with my Dad. :)
I wanted to, but I could never come up with an idea I wanted to submit, and I missed the deadline. You think they got the submission designs concept from Kinnikuman's creative team? They also asked their readers for submissions for wrestlers.
Disliking all your vids kuk
Till you quiit
Your voice is cringe
"Oh yes, Pot Man. One of the most powerful Robot Masters... chef" 🍳
I want a romhack or fangame that just consists of a cast of lost contest robotmaster submissions
Just include Pot Man!
@@GTV-Japan Ok
Considering how many Mega Man hacks there are, I'm surprised nobody has attempted this.
Modern fan games are incredible. Try Sega vs Capcom. Amazing.
I was just thinking about how cool that would be
i vividly remember the Nintendo power feature on this, and the submissions. Someone made Blade Man and it was basically wolverine colored.
Well, that seems to have lived on to Slash Man, whose pattern also resembles the eventual Blade Man from Mega Man 10 despite the fact a blade doesn't immediately suggest that feature of climbing at walls.
I submitted "Hook Man," who had a grappling hook weapon for climbing and swinging around. He was similar to Drill Man in appearance, from what I can recall. I think he also gave you the "Rush Ladder" upgrade, which could let Rush stretch upwards to form a ladder for you to climb. Yeah, it seems pretty redundant to have a grappling hook AND a ladder, especially from the same boss. I was a dumb kid.
That sounds very cool!
That's a neat idea, I like it.
Justice for Pot Man! 😂 I loved this video! Mega Man is where I became a gamer. I remember reading about the contest entries in the Nintendo Power Issue that had Fire Fighter Mickey on the front cover!
Nintendo Power covers standing the test of time could be a good idea. Looking back some were good choices for the cover, others are ones the world has totally forgotten.
That particular issue is a huge standout in my mind. I collected Nintendo Power for a while and I always remembered that one. Probably because of the Mega Man contest.
Yusuke Murata, who designed Dust Man and Crystal Man, said he submitted as many as 64 designs if I remember correctly, and now, he's a manga artist, who worked on Eyeshield 21 and One-Punch Man. He also drew Japanese 4K Ultra HD covers for various Spider-Man movies, specifically 2, Homecoming, Into the Spider-Verse, and Far From Home.
One thing I’ve come to learn is there was no limit on the number of entries. A few people who participated have commented here and said they sent dozens of entries. Weird but hey whatever! I only sent one.
6:28 Holy shit !
I drew a Wall Man years ago , but he looked a bit like Stone Man with four arms, and unfished .
That feels weird to see another one here .
Very cool !
I thought of Block Man when I saw that one. Same basic concept.
Hey! I’m one of the losers of the contest that was in Nintendo Power. I was so excited about the contest that I submitted 8 robot masters and even drew a “select your robot” page before introducing them. They posted one in the magazine, which was a Smoke Man but he wasn’t even my favorite. The others I submitted were Laser man, Tire man, Wave man, Gravity man, Nuclear man, Atom man and… and… I can’t remember. 😮
I saw Atom Man in the magazine. I’ll go back and look for Smoke Man! Good job!!
@@GTV-Japan Ironically, the Atom man you featured from the magazine is not mine, but the Smoke man I made looks a lot like him. The Atom man I created looks similar to a Sniper Joe with no shield and gun. Oh, and I remember the one I forgot, it was Crystal man, but sharp crystals like the ones from Super man (This was before I had seen the robot masters from Mega Man 5, which was in the same issue as the contest results).
Smoke Man would have been a cool boss.
When I was a kid in the early 90's Mega Man 4 had just come out. The address to Capcom was on the box so; A friend and I, being Huge Mega Man Fans and completely unaware of any contest decided to draw 8 robot masters for the next game. So, we brainstormed, made our designs and mailed out ideas using an oversized box we found in the house.
We never heard back from Capcom...
When Mega man 5 released a year later we quickly found out that Capcom wasn't interested in our ideas. With one MAJOR exception. Star man!
Starman looked exactly like I drew him! same color scheme and everything! with the exception that our Star man simply had a brown helmet and Capcom added a star to the helmet. His stage even took place in space!!! as we had suggested. The major difference was that we had planed for Star man's weapon to be 5 sided star shaped golden ninja stars and behave like metal mans weapon. Capcom made his weapon act more like Woodman, Kind of a shoot-able shield thing.
So... It could have been a major coincidence and probably was I will never know but... Maybe not?
I had heard the names attached to the robot masters during the end credits were their original creators, (like the creator of dust man going on to work on one punch man) but I didn't know 'special thanks' were those entries that didn't make the cut! I hear 'art of nintendo power' on twitter was trying to track down some of those folks that had their art featured in the nintendo power side of the contests, I think he's found a couple? definitely had some designs I wish I'd actually sent in, haha. did not realize at the time capcom WAS actually looking for fan submissions.
Capcom also took a recent celebrity, EIKO and put him in street fighter 2, so they are not afraid to throw a bone to fans
@7:55 Bee-man was one of three different robot masters I sent to Nintendo Power, I got the issue of NP in the mail and on the same day I mailed out my entries. Probably why I’m the first one in the article.
Wow that’s amazing! What were the other ones?
Thunder-man and Missle-man were my other submissions.
Also NP added the Bee-man quote
@seffola I could see those working!
OMG!!
as a hispanic i loved Mucho Man so much.
That’s good to hear! I remember some article/ video 10 years ago where someone was offended some game had Mario in a sombrero for 5 seconds. Why? Its cute!
@@GTV-Japani saw a meme similar to that where someone is complaining about the mario odyssey mexican costume and a mexican person replies and says they love the stereotype
Yeah, frankly he was great
As I was born in the 2000's I never got to participate in this but the robot master design contest was an amazing idea
Puzzle man needs redemption
I submitted 'Red Man' who was based on Native Americans and threw tomahawks at MM. We got "Tomahawk Man" in 6, but I doubt he was based on my design since my drawing was more like Cutman except with a single feather protruding upwards from the back of his head, and two or three little triangles representing warpaint under his eyes.
That sounds cool! Maybe the rapper Redman might object to using his name.
"Red Man"? Seriously?
🙄🙄🙄

Fantastic video! They should bring this back for mega man 12!
I was a little upset that 9 10 11 didn’t have the he contest.
Yea be interesting, feel like that fish man inspired buble crab in the x series.
I remember the Nintendo Power contest. Such simpler times.
Yeah. The 4-6 weeks for delivery era.
Better days. When the Mega Man franchise was still alive!
At 12 years old, I never thought my random drawings would ever be referenced again in my life. I remember coming up with Weaseletta and her Terror Teddy robot as a last minute whim as a “boss level”. I drew other ____man characters and submitted them, but surprisingly they went with the one off the wall idea I jotted down at the last minute.
Potman vs Weaseletta would be a fun battle lol
Are you really the creator of these characters?! We also have the designer of Wind Man in the comments today! I could see something like that in the wily stages. Maybe some people designed things like the 3 level slider or whatever too but I’ve never seen it. Yeah you never know what will get chosen but good job and making the magazine! Thanks for sharing your story!
@@GTV-Japan I happened to be watching a SMB3 rom speed run video and this video appeared as a related one and I wondered if my drawing would be included - honored to see it was and get a mention even if the idea was a bit bizarre - maybe that’s why Nintendo Power picked them. lol. Thank you!
@GraysonShuler hey no problem!
@@GraysonShuler hey. do you have discord? i want to talk to you about weaseletta lol
Weaseletta and terror teddy looks a lot like the characters appeared in Conker’s Bad Fur Day: weaseletta looks like the “doll part” of a gigantic robot boss, and terror teddy looks like the… well the teddies in that game.
Maybe you indirectly inspired the devs of that game.
This is really cool stuff, I've known about the contests but never saw an in-depth video showing the stuff that's been released by Capcom. Hilarious that Tank Man, Paste Man, and Yoyo Man ended up as concepts here but were used as a basis for MegaPhilX's popular Mega Man Unlimited. I wonder how many of these concepts could fuel other fan games as well.
Certainly enough to make it to Mega Man 100
Was just about to comment the Yusuke Murata thing when the video mentioned it - well researched! He was only in middle school when he designed those robot masters. Eyeshield 21 is one of my favourite manga!
I think it’s more amazing that he won twice! And had an honorable mention in there too!
@@GTV-Japan He's obviously been extremely talented from a young age!
I love these entries. As a big fan of hand drawn artwork (being a manga artist myself) I am naturally endeared to this kind of stuff :) Some of the best things I have here in Japan are the drawings kids have made for me from school.
Nowadays most of the entries would just be AI generated
>_>
Using the Rockman Complete Works music in this video was a great touch, those arrangements are some of my absolute favorites
I have all 10 soundtrack CDs in a giant E can
This was still one of my favorite Mega Man events ever! This was probably the closest first ever Mega Man fan game, home brew and Romhack being made sorta!
Some of these concepts were awesome, I hope we'll see them in the future
That’s the great thing about the future. It lasts forever.
I was born waaaaay to late to be apart of these, but I'm glad to know that you submitted a Pot Man design meaning my boy got a chance
It’s all I ever asked for!
I never heard the story as MM1 being unpopular OR MM2 worked on on the side. Some Nintendo rumors were like that.
I thought MM1 was not planned to have a sequel, and that's why MM2 was made in a great hurry, with a condition of getting it out fast or not at all. That is also a very similar story to Majora's Mask at Nintendo, but one way or another, I imagine common industry practice in Japan would simply shape production style in either company.
As for WHY, I can see Capcom wanting to keep MM1 as a one-and-done impactful success, and simply follow some other branding for whatever game would take the place of MM2. It's not immediately obvious that a sequel to a good game does anything, or gains anything, for the baggage that comes with that relation.
That’s very true.
I've heard the story a few times before, that is the part about the devs having to work on Mega Man 2 on the side as a "passion project" of theirs outside of their normal work. Can't say if it's true, though. I also find it doubtful that the robot fan design contest was to save work or design time. Seems like going through all the fan submissions and trying to find some that could work together would almost be as much work as coming up with their own ideas themselves. I think the contest was probably more just for fun, and to drive fan engagement in the series. It's a pretty smart idea, actually. More game companies should try stuff like this!
@0Fyrebrand0 I’ve also read that things like the chicken code were ways to advertise the game for free so this was also clearly stealth advertising too despite whatever was happening backstage
Aw, man I wanted to cover this years ago, but wanted to cover the more (ahem) offensive submissions :P
Like what? ******* Man?
I wanted to submit to this, but Argentina was not part of it. I came with "Mirror man", which sports a reflectig shield. I even designed the stage and hazards. Oh well, I'll create it in a future Megaman maker.
That’s cool! I searched thru Club Nintendo but couldn’t find any mention of the contest unfortunately.
I probably still have that Nintendo power, rotting away somewhere with 3rd grade school work notebooks and nickelodeon floam dust in a rotten box in the garage.
Well go dig it out!
Whats next? a Megaman Roguelike that has the fan entries that did not get the final cut become actual bosses?
Roguelike? Nah BOSS RUSH with 1000 rejected Robots!
@rickylovesyou hear hear!
Pair Dance Man (Tango Man or Tango Men would've been a great name) would probably have a an ability like Split Mushroom from Mega Man X4. Creating a second image of Megaman that can attack or cause damage
Great idea to create a buzz about the game! And that must have been pretty awesome to see your creation actually make it👍
Very awesome but how would I know? I took one of many Ls!
To my understanding this didn't work quite how you'd expect. Apparently the people working on the games would create the levels and then pick robot masters they both liked and also fit the levels best.
A noteable exception was Skull man. Apparently they liked his design so much that they scraped one of the premade stages just so they could include him.
Yeah. Some of the later games had guidelines. Like 6 of course having the international theme. And 8 required certain weapons for the bosses. Though all of the games have similar ideas. Water ice fire etc.
On This Day, It's Been 36 Years Since The Rockman Second Run!
THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW A LEGEND WAS BORN
Exactly!! 👍
I believe Game Center CX did a "Where are they now" for the winners. Unfortunately, I cannot remember which season(s) this took place.
Oh I had no idea. The last one I ever saw was the live show where viewers were faxing in comments.
I remember have seen a commercial for the contest of Megaman 6 in a French video game magazine (Consoles +, I think). But it was written to send drawings directly to Capcom Japan, there was no company in Europe for this at this time (Capcom Europe didn't exist yet)
Ah now I understand why so many people are saying they sent drawings to Capcom. It’s kind of sad because unless you import which I heard was big in France, you couldn’t play MM6!
I recall hearing one of the western contestants reworked his fish type robot master as a one-off character for a cartoon called "Mighty Magiswords" that broadcasted on Cartoon Network during the mid 2010s.
I had no idea! I haven’t even seen American TV since 2005!.
I was born in '87, so I was bit too young know about contests and whatnot, but I always loved that issue of Nintendo Power. I've been saying for YEARS that if Capcom ever starts making Mega Man games again, they need to bring these contests back.
They had the contest for Exe/ battle network so hay ya never know
"you're fucking with me, right?"
-Capcom devs during contest
Oh man! This was a great idea for a video!
It’s been kicking around for a while in my head. Getting the AI to upscale the right way finally made it happen!
I didn’t know about the contests until too late. I do remember seeing Glue Man in the Nintendo Power and wishing he was in a game.
The first time we got the chance to play any Megaman game in Chile, was already 1991, so no never any of us got a chance. At stores the Megaman games available were from 2 to 4 (never saw 1 and never saw it for rent either), and the Chilean version of Club Nintendo only mentioned the “coming” version of Megaman 5. “Coming” when it was already out in the US.
We read a bit about the contests
for past games, and as many kids at the time, I also designed a few robots. Some names clashed with robots never knew were already there like gyro-man. Other ideas I had was a robot master which was coincidentally similar to napalm man/one of the dark man, with my version called panzer man. Also outlaw man which was about having a Wild West oriented stage and Wa Man (和マン) with Japanese aesthetics, weather man, blade man (it seems this name got dropped a lot), golem man, ghoul man lol
Thanks for sharing your story!
Somebody made Diamond Man? The robot who fires diamond missiles that explode into four diamonds?
Ooooh. So what Capcom did to mega man legends 3 wasn't out of the ordinary. It just didn't work that time.
I guess it wasn’t.
8:10 - According to concept art, Diamond Man going to be was the original name for Jewel Man in MM9
Oh, neat!
I can see Pair Dance Man weapon being something simillar to Split Mushroom clone no jutsu weapon
Someone else said the same thing!
I also submitted my own design Lightning Man, but his design was too close to Elec Man, so it probably wasn't taken seriously.
There are only a few ideas that have been reused over and over. Fire ice water. This kind of thing. I’d like lightning man!
Oh wow, I have so many of my own Robot Master designs stashed somewhere in an old portfolio from my junior/senior high school days...!!!
That’s great you saved them!
That “palm tree” on the drawing’s Yamato Man is actually a samurai’s topknot.
I know but he’s green
If I could travel back in time, entering one of these contests would be the first thing I would do, mainly for the fun of doing it. Though now that I think about it, if I won, there would probably be disastrous consequences due to how iconic the existing designs are...
Don’t ruin the timeline, you’ll return to the present and have to memorize a lot of new kings.
Yeah, I knew what “saboten” meant. That’s what they call one of the big anime conventions here in Phoenix.
Ha! Really? That’s funny. It was the first useless word I learned in Japanese. I mean how often will I talk about a cactus? I guess just this one time 🌵
I first entered MM with MM2, eagerly waiting for MM3. The contest was something I didn't learn about until I subscribed to Nintendo Power and the issue that arrived showing those that didn't make it. For years, I'd always thought up good ideas. Even now, I've come up with 8 Robot Masters I'd like to put into a fan game, with a bit of a rule change where there's a weapon that hurts them and a weapon that makes the boss stronger, sort of a "whoops, you used the wrong weapon". I have the draft of my 8. One example of an opposite weapon would be Sand Man and using a heat based weapon that makes him into Glass so that he's stronger. Even one "man" would be immune to MM's regular shot. It wouldn't be made for hard core people, but just a little change on the formula. Shame I have no game making talent, some of these fan based game makers have. I have some good ideas (I think they're good).
Some of my ideas for men came from the mind of a jerk teenager. Fat Man, Murder Man, Rape Man, Thief Man, Whoa Man, Pirate Man, Magic Man, Spider Man, Wolf Man, Rain Man, What'sup Man, Killer Man, Rope Man, Evil Man, Bad Man, Door Man, Hang Man, Rasta Man, Magnet Man (yes, I thought of this too), Acid Man (in an ice stage with acidic ice), Car Man, Religious Man, Rubberband Man, Suicide Man, Paper Man, Straw Man, Tin Man, Fury Man, Roid Man, Puke Man, Virus Man, Moon Man, Chainsaw Man (before the comics, I promise), Police Man, Trash Man, Medicine Man, Dead Man, Sand Man, Red Man, White Man, Poor Man, STD Man...
Some of these are really bad ideas. I left out the vulgar or nasty ones my stupid teen self came up with that I still remember. I remember many of them because I spent so much time trying to conjure up some really cool entries or funny ones to make friends laugh. I this day and age, I'm surprised there aren't people out there against the "pronoun" thing and want a gender-neutral Robot Master and to them I say, "play Tetris".
I submitted "Mailman" who's body was literally a roadside mailbox which opened up and shot bills at Megaman. They might not have done much damage to Megaman, but it would certainly have bankrupt him.
Ha!
I remember drawing a
Shark Man, Tank Man with a turret for a head, Sword Man that had blades instead of hands and a sword on his head, probably more closely resembled Blade Man more than Sword Man from game. But I didn’t color any of the pictures just drew them, now I’m wondering if my oldest Aunt sent them in, she had the Nintendo Power subscription and suggested I draw some.
I think color helps!
Thank you for making this video . Biggest Rockman fan in the world here 😅. Keep up the good work 😀
You’re welcome!
Yo-yo Man and Glue Man were used by MegaPhil X for his Megaman Unlimited fangame.
I was not aware that many contests were held for the various Rockman games. I always thought that only Rockman 2 had fan-designed bosses. Great video! How long have you been living in Japan?
20 years man! The only games I know of that didn’t have contests were the X games and 9, 10, 11. Even exe/battle network took some designs!
@@GTV-JapanI had no idea!
Me too. I don’t know those well.
Honestly, Puzzle Man is a pretty sick design. i could totally see that in Mega Man 12 or something.
I could see an attack similar to the yellow devil
What a great taste of nostalgia! I didn't get to submit anything to the contest but boy did my friends and I made our own robot masters all the time. My best one was stretch man, as he would punch you from afar like Dhalsim. And there would be ladders in his stage and room where he would stretch up, grab them and land on you. 😂
I really like that idea!
Paste Man feels like an inspiration for Glue Man in the fangame Mega Man Unlimited.
If Capcom makes a Mega Man 12, the Robot Master Contest should be back now that internet makes easier to show ideas from around the world. Even I have some interesting ideas.
Honestly glue is always better than paste.
Your Pot Man design looks good, but I could try to sprite it just for you.
I’d love that!
@@GTV-Japan So I sprited him, I called it under the name "Pot Man Reimagined" for what-if Capcom "redesigned" it.
WEATHER MAN. 🌪️🌧️🌩️❄️ I would've been the hardest boss out of 8 regular bosses. Bipolar weather in a drop of a dime. 😂😂
On Newgrounds, there was a video about the new robot master Gas Man unfortunately he blew up with Fire Man... For Atom Man I think that it's possible of why Capcom chose not to have him as a boss, since given the past history being blown up during the end of World War II, by Atomic Bombs.
I remember the contest for rm3, machete man baby, I was bad ass....potman? Yeah I'll sell ya some lol

Because 8 is the same both left and right.
Potman could have been the world's greatest master chef, but Capcom shattered his dreams. He could have been a contender!
We came close with the kitchen stage in Rescue Rangers!
I wish I could find it or that capcom remembered but I made a sword man design that would look almost exactly like the Blademan design in 10. Even if the idea likely didn’t come from my design when I saw him for the first time I lost my mind and I like to pretend I managed a win 15-16 years after the fact.
I think you won in the end!
I submitted for the contest, My idea was for Hammer Man and Jet Man
A friend of mine submitted an idea for Gutsdozer 2 and Nintendo Power even responded to him, but I can’t remember what they told him
Wow! I often wonder what the different tiers of acceptance were too. Who got zip, who got a letter, who got mentioned and who got in the game.
Like my entey Muscle man ( I was not aware of Kinnikuman back then. Well I did know of the muscle toys as that is all we got here) Funny how that is my favorite anime now.
Hey at least you tried!
If anime taught me any lessons, it's to never give. I actually ended up studying 3d character art and I've gotten pretty good.
I think just for fun I'm gonna model my old design in 3d.
My focus was turned for a second and I thought you said Poop Man. It was Hoop Man, but now I gotta wonder what PM's powers would be.
Ahh.. I’d rather not know.
I can imagine some sorta cross promotion w/ Mega Man 6 & Battlebots. Had that show premiered years ealrier
I don't know if they do or not but they should do the same for pokémon
it’s such a shame that most of them are lost to time, potentially forever…
That’s life.
Imagine if CAPCOM used "Pot Man" in place of TOP MAN in his already questionable stage design?
Yeah. He was the weakest part of that game
Along with his dumbass weapon.
His stage music kicked ass, though.
Thank you
Ship man and tank man seem like legit designs. Puzzleman and wall man too. I especially like ship man.
There’s an enemy in Bonk’s Revenge who looks like that design too.
I still remember that Nintendo Power issue along with the extremely generic idea I submitted for Laser Man. Yeah I was big on enthusiasm but not so much on originality as an 8 year old. I think my main idea was his weapon being basically an orbital strike laser.
I’d play that stage!
Mega Man needs your help.. to design his enemies? Lmao
It’s a 5th column movement to infiltrate Wily.
I can't believe Murata created Dust Man! OPM is a favorite (リア充の) manga of mine, and Dust Man was always one of my favorite bosses.
I like Dust Man too. His face is funny
So, were the pieces seen in Mega Man 8's credits the submissions they received for that game that won either the Wily or Light prizes?
Yes 8 had a contest and the winners were credited
I submitted Soda Man back in the day. He woulda rained down soda like Toad Man if you let him shake around the room too much. The design probably looked like total shit lol
That is a cool idea!!
Sounds like an opportunity for product placement, lol. Mountain Dew Man, followed by Doritos Man!
@0Fyrebrand0 time to channel my inner Max Headroom and say “don’t say the P word!”
CAPCOM recently had an online survey basically asking questions surrounding their franchises and what gamers want and like
Yeah! I said stop making endless Street Fighter II versions and give us endless Megaman!
@@GTV-Japan Yes, I also insisted on mega man games
Love Mega Man one of my favorite franchises have all the model kits and so on keep making Mega man games
Surely there's a Sea Man out there somewhere, lol.
If that’s what you’re into…
Speaking of Mega Man Legends 3. Will you do some videos on the Mega Man Legends 3 Devroom entries, especially the Japanese entries that have recently been discovered? Look up the The Mega Man Network article titled "Bring Back Those Mega Man Legends 3 Project Memories with the Archived Devrooms".
Sorry. I’m on to other stuff. I will come back to mega man later this year for the next manga though.
Mega Man rules.
I like to play through Wily Wars once every year.
I think the story of Mega Man 2 being a passion project sounds good but I doubt it's true.
Much like how Final Fantasy wasn't a make or break game for Square back in the day.
I guess we will never really know. You can still be passionate about work you are told to do anyways.
Yeah! Did you know they had a strategy game released right after FF1?
Thank you that was an awesome video
damn can't remember whatvmy submission was 😅😅
Yo-yo man and Tank man are in mega man unlimited, a fangame
I didnt participate. But i did make 24 original robots through the years that Im planning to make in my own Rockman inspired game.
I scrapped one robot coz there was someone similarly named in a GameBoy Rockman game. Screw Man. Im keeping Junk Man though. I made him years before RM7 was released.
what if batman and spider man was in megaman as actual villains and it was the actual heroes from the series..
Ganesha man is so cool
7:08. I guess time has changed with Mega Man 10; Sheep Man XD
Sheep Man is the best of all
What about the Net Navis?
What about it?
I actually made a submission. Never heard shit in return. Mega Man 5 wasn't even out yet, but Comet Man would've been so much better than Star Man
Pot man needs to be in mega man 12
YES!
YES!
Mine would have been Saw Man/Blade Man (there was an actual blade man but not what I had in mind)
Had a chainsaw arm and shot out sawblades (basically Metal Man part deux)
That’s very creative!
I wish I would of entered this contest 😂
The deadline passed already. Sorry.
@GTV-Japan when I was younger, I didn't know about it until years later
@gabeguzman9478 maybe the can do it for mega man 12!
@@GTV-Japan I hope they will make a mm 12
I drew some netnavi for the Mega man exe series😅
I was surprised to learn those games had contests!
