You're welcome Linda. This is an old trick but it is still the best way I know of to do a good pencil sketch effect. I double checked all of the newer techniques before making this video and this one is still the best.

When I click on the gaussian blur, it doesn't let me preview it. The box is checked, but doesn't show up on the screen. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Could be any number of things, including being low on memory. First try closing and reopening Elements. Then check all the steps. Finally try a higher setting in the Gaussian blur.
