- The Chevrolet Corvette is a staple of the American sports car scene, but when the Dodge Viper burst onto the scene with its oversized brawn, a group of engineers at Chevy decided to pitch the idea of an equally (perhaps even moreso) bonkers Corvette to take on the big snake - The Corvette ZR-12!

Ive stood next to this car probably 12 times-ish at the corvette museum.
It sat in the museum's yellow skydome for YEARS b/4 the floor collapsed from the sinkhole. Thank god it didn't fall in there.

I remember it originally having sidepipes but they must have been removed at some point.

Really interesting not even Car and Driver cover this when they celebrated Chevy's anniversary.
They also worked with Callaway Corvette made twin turbo c4 and they also made the most famous Corvette told in the top speed record for over 20 plus years 255 MPH

Maybe it was for the better that it didn't go into production. GM wouldn't have wanted to be the American TVR and created an undrivable monster similar to the Speed 12, as much as fans would have wanted this savage Vette,
i love corvettes as i have part of their (chevrolet) stock, this is probably top 3 of my favorite looking cats
I might be wrong but i think the guys who built the engine for this car are building the 1750 hp v8 for the SSC Tuatara and it's pair of more insane variants

Other than making over manufacturers go to getting their own marine engines in their cars.

I personally think if Corvette decided to bring this out. Ferrari might of just forced up their game. The NSX might not have. A Corvette v12 on the other hand however just could of given Ferrari alerted. It's a V12 so it's bound to be targeted to Ferrari.
