Beautiful work, thanks for sharing it with us. What caught my eye is how much more spray JJF gets from his turns by being more fluid and seemingly "doing" less.
I like this because being new to watching trick riding or whatever it’s called, watching in normal speed every turn looks the sme to me. Suddenly I see what’s really going on in each turn. Thank you!
Your cinematography and editing are on fire. EPIC! Seriously, this is one the most enjoyable, beautiful, and educational surf videos I've seen in a VERY long time. Reminds me of when I was a kid and I would watch surf videos in slow motion and watch specific turns in slow mo over and over and over again to study every detail of every part of them. Your framing, editing, pacing, music selection, and choice to slow it down to me seems inspired. It shows more of the true nature of the surfers and really lets them shine through which is beautifully complimented by the music. I surf rocky point regularly (but definitely not like that!) And it's so cool to see just how talented these surfers are as they pick apart each section, push their boards to and past the limits, and play off the crystal blue surfaces of our beautiful Hawaii water. I could go on, but for now I'll just end with saying that this really makes me stoked to go surfing. Thank you for making this and for sharing it.
Thank you for your comments. My preference is super slow motion. You get to see more and appreciate the beauty of the ocean and the surfer riding the wave. Contrary to what I said, it is also exciting to see these athletes moving really fast across the water. Thanks again, This weekend could be filled with more fun things to watch. A big swell is coming this weekend.
Kaniela Stewart (Kani-tsunami) looks amazing on that long board, effortless in motion. As is Noah Beschen (raw-cut) on his short board. Love the slow mo. Hope you post more of these 🤟 Go capture Johnny the ripper & Nikki Miller in Waikiki on their longboards too.
Thank you for your comments. I looking forward to shooting everyone on the South Shore this Summer. If you see Kani, Johnny, or Nikki, let them about my videos and that I am looking forward to shooting them soon.
if you want to be better at surfing, notice how JJF (among many others) have a very powerful bottom turn. if you don't bottom turn correctly you can't surf your best.
That's a pretty simplified way to think about it but sure..but it's about your line and positioning and ensuring youre harnessing as much potential energy as possible for as much speed as possible. Its how I was taught anyway. Its typically easier and quicker to stall and slow, than it is to pump and gain speed
really interesting watching JJF at a slower speed, he looks to be at peace with the world
John John along with all other North Shore surfers always puts on a great show in the water.
@@swellpatrol5638 he's been on another planet the last 6 ? months, JJF is looking very relaxed & sharp in the water

100% agree... In this context I just realized I'm not winding up anywhere near enough. So great to see it at this speed ✊🏼🤙🏼

Baron Mamiya Ripping
It's the haircut. He figured out those bangs were holding him back.
Love this!!! What camera/lens are you using???
Red/Canon
JJF Crazy
Any chance you got any clips of a kook on a pink fish that morning?
Dude the slo mo is killing me. Please just make this a full speed edit.
Ha, me too. But there are so many nice comments I wasn't going to say anything.
Why is it so close up
He looks like he’s doing the HULA guys. Da WHITE HAWAIIAN
Would rather see surfing at normal speed, and throw in couple of slo mo.
