Wave Motion Cannon is definitely an op card. I almost forgot about it till it was mentioned. If you and an opponent are dueling using 8000 LP and you keep Wave Motion Cannon on the field for 8 turns, that baby is a insta-kill!!! XD
4 turns "if" you take it all literally, or 2 if you're an ass with the rules, the card states (at least the version of the card I have) "place 1 token on this wave motion cannon for EACH standby phase" there are 4 stand by phases a TURN, 2 during your move, and 2 during theirs. but that's if you want to be technical and really grind it in lol.
I believe Frog the Jam doesn't have support. Unless I missed the joke and I just said why this is funny. I probably did and I look like an idiot. Oh well, still posting it.
All of the frog cards say "except for Frog the Jam" because of a translation error. It is a useless card but it's funny that all of the cards specifically say except for it.

Well you can't chain cards that would negate destruction so it is extremely hard to counter, it allows you to reuse continuous spells and traps over again, and allows you to replay different pendulum zones
cause destruction stopped being broken like AGES ago and it's easily stopped.... also Trunade is way better than Heavy Storm cause you can reuse or cycle your stuff and abuse them
Future Fusion was so fun with my Blue-Eyes deck, i could summon 1 or even 2 five head dragons while having Shining Dragon with 4k+ attack in a few turns
That's not the major issue. Infernoids with Tierra, BA with fusion Dante, left arm offering, and blue-eyes with new support using 5-headed dragon (namely for stones) is the problem
here is what you do for an OTK: Future fusion 5 dragons from your deck 3 of them white stones of legend for FHD then add 3 blue eyes to your hand Poly into BEUD then De-fusion then delta attacker
I'm surprised Makyura The Destructor isn't here on because that card is the definition of a true broken Yu-Gi-Oh card because it brokes the mechanic of Traps and how they are supposed to be used and outright created Chick the Yellow OTK which ultimately ended up getting it banned. Any veteran players remember that shit?
No mention of Brionac? It arguably single handedly got Premature Burial banned and from the time of its release to its 2011 ban about the only major deck that didn't play it that I can think of was Disaster Dragons who were a pure Dragon deck to keep Totem Dragon live, and even without the Premature Burial OTKs could on its own clear you opponent's board.
or if you have another in your hand hit for 9000. lol don't even start me on the lightray monsters(like lightray diablos etc) that go with it. when u hit for like 15k in 1 turn its pretty broken. unless they magic cylinder your attack. then youre just unlucky.

The only reason feather duster is on the list and not Raigeki is probably because of the Anti-Raigeki card. The Anti-Raigeki card is so specific, though, that even having one in your deck is stupid. You just have to know that your opponent even has a Raigeki AND you have to lay the trap before they play Raigeki.
Ahhh the joys of some of those cards. I remember when I played Yu-Gi-Oh, I built it like a Magic: The Gathering deck focusing on card advantage... Delinquent Duo, Pot of Greed, Swords of Revealing Light, Cyber Jar, Magician of Faith, Man-Eater Bug, Bandit Tools, Solemn Judgement, bunch of other stuff, and just had fun with it. Was such a good deck.
One of my favourites is El Shaddoll Construct, brought out then almost immediately banned, it destroys any special summoned monster it battles (before damage calculation though so no one takes a hit to the life points, but it was brought out right as pendulum decks were really taking off) when its summoned you can send one shaddoll monster to the graveyard from your deck (which can result in a stupidly long chain of effects if you know what your doing) and when it is eventually put down it gives you back a shadoll spell/trap from the graveyard (so you can summon another one if you want)
I pulled Spellbook of Judgement at the prerelease, my friend pulled the other one, & 1 guy pulled dracossack. prices for these cards at prerelease were: $120 for spellbook & $150 for draco. They went down to $65 & $80, respectively by the next weekend.
i cant wait for that moment when i have 4 eheros and my opponent has all the mirror force cards and magic cylinder in his trap card zone and i normal summon stratos
You could have also mentioned that it was popular to use the Chaos Emperor Dragos Effect to set up the Yata-lock. This was rather simple to do. Have a Sangan/Witch on the board or special summon it. Pay the 1000 life to destroy everything and search for the Yata in your deck. Your opponent is left with 0 resources and is not allowed to draw anything. Doing this was theoretically possible from the first turn you were allowed to attack. All that mattered was how fast you can draw the emperor dragon. This wasn't even the only win condition of Chaos decks. They had loads of other stuff, like Black Luster Soldier, too. These decks used to be so dominant that they had to start to use the forbidden list and ban away the 3 monsters (Chaos Dragon, BLS, Yata).
In my list, Spellbook of Judgment and Chaos Emperor Dragon are the most broken cards ever created for two opposite reasons. If I'm not mistaken, Spellbook of Judgment can net you the largest plus of any Yugioh card ever printed (Sixth Sense and Dimension Fusion can net you maxes of plus 5s and Judgment would typically give you plus 7-10s). And I think CED is without question the most powerful monster in existence. For what it does it is unquestionable.
+LeCoolFace wow. I think you're forgetting about the fact that stratos effect is not limited to once per turn.. so many ways to get the effect of in one turn, it can truly be insane
When I was a kid yugioh was really expensive and only rich people had decks equivalent to the American meta. During a tournament I went up against a Chaos Emperor deck and managed to win after it decimated the field and a few turns of topdecking using, ironically, the card I maindecked against it: Jowgen the Spiritualist. A good times.
Fiber Jar, Yata, Deliquent Duo, Imperial Order, Chaos Emperor Dragon, and Cyber Jar are in my top in no particular order. The other 4 can be filled in from different generations but during my time in the game, these were oppressive.
Self-Destruct Button. Being probably one of the only cards in the game that forces a draw, in the right deck, this card was like Fiber Jar in that it could reset the game if you were losing or just to fuck with your opponent. I've attended tournaments where I used this with Hope for Escape Exodia. We were in Game 7-8, past time, and still waiting on a win. I just kept using the button until I drew out Exodia.
Nowadays painful choice would be closer to number 1 - I would have personally liked a mirage of nightmare honorable mention alongside the imperial order - my favorite combo from back in the day. As always though great list.
Make a video about the longest meta relevant cards in the game. What charactheristics make a card last long enough in yugioh throught all the many formats. I'm thinking about generics cards like raigeki, and maybe evenly match will still be good in the future. It would make an intersting discussion, since it helps to know which cards are a longlasting investment.
i know the ruling is that you can let imperial order die whenever you want, but by the card text it shouldnt work that way. that card literally says "if you CAN NOT" which implies that it should only die if you dont have the lifepoints to pay. konami has some really stupid rulings.
It was just poorly translated for america. It's properly worded in Japanese. The correct wording should read "At the beginning of your standby phase, you may pay 700 Life Points: If you do not; destroy this card." As of the nowadays format of wording.
we think the card should work certain way cause THAT'S HOW IT'S FREAKING WRITTEN AND CLEARLY IMPLIED IN THE FIRST PLACE, yet in Konami they just use to say otherwise just cause they freaking say so, with some dumb rulings that don't even make much sense anymore
I felt like Fiber Jar could have been on this list. It's a game reset apart from life points and banished cards for no cost, and all you have to do it set it face-down on your side of the field. And I believe it recycles itself. On top of that, it can also drag out tournament matches to a draw by itself. I don't think Fiber Jar will ever be bad.
you sound kind of stupid here but you're not wrong. Synchro monsters speed the game up x10. My only problem with xyz is that there are generic rank 4s that every single deck has access to.
XYZ was fairly well made when they first came out. Not many cards designed to spam out level 4s, all of them have effects that REQUIRE using material, and the most powerful XYZ were often archetype restricted. Then they threw ALL of that out the window with floating effects, more ignition effects, and rank 4s out the goddamn ass.
+FireSwordOfMagic Pendulum is worse in every regard because it makes XYZ and Synchro so much easier to use plus as long as the cards are on the field they're recyclable Pendulums and the new meta broke Yu-Gi-Oh! for anyone who wanted to be a casual player
Eradicatior Epidemic Virus. I run this thing in my Odd-Eyes Pendulum Magicians and I absolutely love this Trap, but it is probably the most annoying thing I have. Your opponent's back row scaring you? Declare Trap, boom, gone, all traps in hand, gone, Traps next three turns? Gone! It can even do the same with Spells. Amazing

maybe you just found bad players then, otherwise you'd simply know it's not about just Yata but the combo it had with Sangan and CED making it practically a game ender, you literally can't do shit if all that goes throught, the most broke thing ever.... and in before - .... counters - no, they're no argument lol, we actually have counters for almost everything and yet there's a well thought throught banlist
Armageddon Knight and other blowout cards especially raigeki would set you back 5 turns. I'm not saying yata isnt good but it sure as hell isnt the 4th most broken card.
Skull Lair (pre Errata) And perhaps the most broken Combo : The 4 normal pieces of Exodia, Painful choice, Backup soldier, Exodia the Forbidden One, Sangan/Witch of the Black Forest. If you picked up Sangan/Witch OTBF (or Exodia the forbidden one), painful choice, backup soldier, and any other random piece of exodia in your opening hand, you could win within 2 turns (that or if you pick up all 5 pieces of Exodia at the beginning, which is damn near impossible, in which case you win before the game eve has a chance to be played)
These were the cards I played with. Our decks would've been considered completely broken if these are all "broken". The thing Konami forgot was, if everything's broken, nothing's broken.
Funny that I used Black Luster - Envoy in my custom 4-in-1 Spellcaster/OTK deck. What happened was that I Special Summoned this card in a duel against my friend right before he special summoned Raviel, Lord of Phantasms and basically sent him to the Banished zone on the turn it was summoned. Literally took down and banished a Sacred Beast on the turn it was summoned
there's a fusion monster I believe called "blaze fenix the burning bombardment bird" or something like that (2800 atk). i loved using swords of revealing light and stalling opponents while getting as many cards as possible into the field and ripping them with it's burn effect (300 points per card on the field). unfortunately it couldn't attack afterwards like chaos dragon..
Destiny Hero Dogma. Halving your opponent's life points is one thing. But this dude has such a massive attack, that even if they started at max health, you would essentially take them from 8000 to 500 in one turn.
Depending on the deck, Machina Fortress can be ridiculous, regardless of how it's destroyed it can kill the opponent's cards, easy as hell summon conditions, it's only drawback is being removed from play
Chaos dragon was for sure the cause of the ban list. Luckily I always killed it when it was summoned with solum judgement but if you had nothing to block that summoning it was a killer. I kind of miss painful choice, that was my victory card there. People were so confused at the cards I would choose for it that they always chose the wrong one for me to keep. The best part was them trying to figure out why I put the black luster solider envoy of the begining and barrel behind the door in there. I pretty much had black luster solider envoy of the beginning in there to kill it all the time. People feared it so I had it in there to mess with them if they say it but I hated it and wanted to see their face when I would summon it only to ring and barrel it. If I felt out classed by monsters and was only keeping up a solid defense my strategy was to get my ring of destruction and barrel behind the door together. There was a few times I made that a one turn kill combo and every time black luster solider had to die.
I always just smiled and used sakuretsu armour. "You just fell right into my trap card" Was something I said a lot back then. Nobody wanted to play with me after that
The Hourglass of Courage is a pretty OP card. After its first turn, every power increase will be doubled. With the right card combination, its attack and defense can go well above 20,000.
Haha dimension fusion saved my ass so many times in junior high. And judgement dragon, it may not have the burn effect as it’s older brother but having it with a recovery cards made it fun to spam.

I will never get over the fact that Chaos Emperor Dragon sends cards to the graveyard without destruction. It doesn't just simply annihilate everything, it even disables effects of many viable cards.
THATS why there's an "eratta" for CED. I didn't realize it was just for the OCG. My favourite broken-ass card?? Chaos Emperor, of course. He's an Atomic Bomb. 😍😍 But, more recently-and still usable-either Soul Charge or Solemn Judgment. The fact that you can revive up to 5 monsters/stop pretty much anything is just OP AF. In SC, if you're building a big enough board, who cares how many LP it cost?? GG, baby!! SJ? When can you NOT pay half your LP. Too good. 😎👌
Yep, Chaos Emperor Dragon deserves the #1 spot. It's just mindboggingly overpowered. But in a close second spot there's Frog the Jam. Also stupidly powerful.
Crush card pre errata should have been put on this list, or at least given an honourable mention. The card alone was pretty much a win condition, and most decks back in its prime could run it. It was versatile and deadly.
The Yata lock was incredible in my time, gladly I was able to use it as soon as it came out for sometime before it got banned lol, I haven't dueled in about 8 years, been retired, the game looks to have really changed!
I think thousand eyes restrict is an overlooked broken card. Last i checked he was removed from the ban list too. No monsters but him can attack, no monsters can change their battle positions, can steal an opponents monster to gain their power, if it was to be destroyed, the opponents monster gets destroyed instead. Thats almost a complete lock, just block their spells and traps and the opponent couldnt do anything
My friend gave me a holo Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the end back in middle school because he said he didn't need it since he doesn't know how to use it's effects. Thinking back it was probably the best card I have ever owned. I never managed to get any good stuffs when I was buying these...
I'd think butterfly dagger should get an honorable mention. Not broken on it's own, but comboed with geirfried and royal library to draw your entire deck... "exodia's in there somewhere" lol
My favorite broken card Power Bond. Machine-specific fusion summoning with an added bonus, double the attack value at the cost of the original value's amount in lifepoints.
Even without the errata, I don't see Choas Emperor impacting the meta too much. The reason I say that is because both the meta and lower tiers tend to run four solemn cards and sides in Choas Trap hole.
Just my opinion, but I consider The forceful sentry more powerful than the Duo. A look at opp's hand, no cost, and back to the deck... Man, that was sick.
Okay, this just shows how old I am. I own just about all these cards. I had no idea they were broken though because I was a first generation Yu-Gi-Oh player and played it for the first 2 years or so when it first came out. I was a MTG player before hand and found this game to be a nice break from MTG. however I would go back to MTG about 2 years later. So when I played this game a lot of pleople had these cards because most of these were from the first couple sets. Now about 14 years later I am finding out I have a gold mine of Yu-Gi-Oh cards lol. Yeah...I'm old...
I'm not really a Yu Gi Oh player, but I would have thought Pot of Greed would have featured in this list. It's not a game winning card, but it is free card advantage with no cost or downside to playing it. Even if it had read "Draw 1 card" it would still effectively reduce the size of your deck. If you had a card in Magic that read "Discard this card from your hand: Draw 1 card." every deck would run four. There is no reason not to run as many of the card as you can. That to me is a sign of broken design.
You forgot to mention the combination that made 1 and 2 so powerful. Have a card like Witch of the Black Forest. Have Chaos Emperor Dragon nuke the field and both players hands. Search Yata-Garasu. Your opponent is literally unable to win or do pretty much anything, while you slowly peck them to death with a spirit crow.
back when it was legal i used to use yata-garasu with spirit reaper and 3 megamorphs on a vampire lady, this effectively locked the opponent down and then i slowly milled his/her deck to nothing. my friends later requested i never use the deck ever again x)
God I remember that Yata-lock beatdown combo because some asshole in my high school back in the day would always use it to win. Don't ever expect Yata-Garatsu, Sangan, and Chaos Emperor Dragon to ever make it off the banlist because of that BS.
before I even knew about the "Ban list" I traded my Raviel, Lord of Phantasms for Envoy of the beginning and end, plus a few oldschool cards. My highlight of the deck was a light/dark theme. I had the Warlords of darkness leading the charge on the Dark side, and Silent Magician leading the charge for the Light. The Deck was built to cycle fast and either win with a big creature or just wait until I got one of the envoy's (actually only won a handful of the hundreds of duels with either of those cards. 90% of my wins came from getting Silent Magician on the field) BTW... a Creature with 3500 ATK that is immune to spell cards -.- dumb card
I use the Forbidden version of Riryoku, it drains half your opponents life points and adds them to one of your monsters attack points. So if used early in the duel, your monster will have over 4000 attack+ its original attack. Gives you a very solid wall right off the bat.
I had an argument with someone about how I don't think Yata-Lock would be as rampant now due to the amount of cards that have a "You can banish this card from your graveyard Negate the attack" Sure emperor dragon + Yata would still suck (cant happen due to errata) but you still have a turn to turn things around.
I really thought Herald of Perfection would be on here. Combined with Safe Zone/Royal Decree and Archlord Krystia, it's pretty much a lock down when running a fairy deck.
I remember my deck back in the days a mix of Yata-garasu, Raigeki and Harpies feather duster. The moment I saw the opponent having 1 or none cards on his hands. I would use the feather, afterwards Raigeki so his whole field was empty. Than summon Yata_Garasu. Next round he can't draw and if he doesn't have a monster on his hand he is done. I won like 2/3 of my matches plus the local school tournament this way.
A lot of these cards could've been fair if there's greater or additional cost added to them. One thing I like about Magic: The Gathering more than YuGiOh is precisely that YGO cards is harder to balance without mana cost.
My favorite broken card and one i think should be on the list (the video is great just in case im not critisizing ur list nor anything xD) is Future Fusion, broken as hell allows u to summon up to 2 FGD easily and do some dragon combos OP, not to mention othe fusionr cards that can benefit from it xD
*Metamorphosis*. Previous turn Scapegoat into Thousand eyes restrict, then absorb key monster... Broken... Now it is not so powerful, but in its age, Raigeki was often a winnning condition. Delinquent duo was bad but only because we didn't get Mystical Ref Panel until very late in the meta... It would have rocked for you to go first, put a MRP facedown and watch your opponent eat his own Delinquent Duo's effect and pay life to boot. Or letting Goyo Guardian attack one of your monsters and turning up a Remove Brainwashing so that the destroyed monster is summoned to your side of the field rendering him useless. Also lovable to use a Lava Golem to do away with pesky monsters and using Remove Brainwashing to keep a 3000 attack monster while doing away with two of your opponent's. 1000 damage for getting rid of trap or magic card resistant monsters? Pfft...
I used to use Dimension Fusion with Tyranno Infinity and Soul Release in a dinosaur deck. let a bunch of weak Dinosaurs die, Soul Release to banish them, Tyranno Infinity is a 4 star monster that gains attack equal to the number of dinosaurs you have removed from play x1000 so you can easily get a 5000 monster on the field, if not higher. if that gets destroyed by a trap or whatever, Dimension Fusion all your monsters back
all the deskbots or more specifically deskbot 003 and machine duplication with this combo alone you can get a 15000 atk monster on field to do this play deskbot 003 and use his normal summon effect to special summon deskbot 002 and activate it's effect to get 008/006 then use machine duplication on 002 use there effect to get 005/007 and 009 then place 008/006 and 005/007 in the pendulum zones and pendulum summon 009 then activate his effect and 003 second effect on 009 then you have a 12000 atk monster but it will get better when the field card deskbot base is available
Acoqliphort Towers. First of it's kind :) I remember a storm of youtube vids talking about this card when it was announced. Now the only reason it's still banned is marketing value :p
Hmm... No, I can't argue against Chaos Emperor Dragon's no. 1 spot. Though, I'm currently salty about Cyber Dragon Infinity. Ability to negate any card effect four times? That's really bad news for any deck that relies on monster effects, spells or traps to summon monsters - and that's most of the decks out there. Well, there is a weakness in its effect, but it's difficult to find the exact setup to exploit it. Most of the time, the successful summoning of Cyber Dragon Infinity means defeat for me.
When I use to play in local tournaments Chaos Dragon Yata lock was a win conditions.. delinquent duo and then right after use forceful sentry lol.. (this was before a ban list ever existed)
I wouldn't agree with all of this, but it is a tough list to make and to limit down to 10. Not a bad attempt really. Even before cards were made that wanted to go to the grave Painful choice was amazing. I would hold onto it and then push for the win with any 5 cards that could screw my opponent. It was also used for dumping dark and light into the grave for BLS and CED
I used to like using Delinquent Duo in combination with Magic Thorn. In addition to the card loss, the opponent also loses the same amount of life points you do!

i and a few others always said that if you take away the combo with yata CED becomes the lesser of the two envoys. i think his unrestricted status in the ocg proves that.
One card I liked using on my XYZ opponents is Ground Collapse. Get 3 of these out and your opponent has to win without monsters on his side of the field. Of course there are a lot of ways your opponent can destroy this card. When I used it it was very annoying for my opposition.

The video isn't bad it just misses a lot of really broken cards. Cards that are so degenerate that is surprising they didn't make the list. Future Fusion, Giant Trunade (Which is better than Feather Duster in my opinion), Cold Wave, Ultimate Offering etc

Well you can't chain cards that would negate destruction so it is extremely hard to counter, it allows you to reuse continuous spells and traps over again, and allows you to replay different pendulum zones
cause destruction stopped being broken like AGES ago and it's easily stopped.... also Trunade is way better than Heavy Storm cause you can reuse or cycle your stuff and abuse them

That's not the major issue. Infernoids with Tierra, BA with fusion Dante, left arm offering, and blue-eyes with new support using 5-headed dragon (namely for stones) is the problem

here is what you do for an OTK: Future fusion 5 dragons from your deck 3 of them white stones of legend for FHD then add 3 blue eyes to your hand Poly into BEUD then De-fusion then delta attacker
I'm surprised Makyura The Destructor isn't here on because that card is the definition of a true broken Yu-Gi-Oh card because it brokes the mechanic of Traps and how they are supposed to be used and outright created Chick the Yellow OTK which ultimately ended up getting it banned. It arguably single handedly got Premature Burial banned and from the time of its release to its 2011 ban about the only major deck that didn't play it that I can think of was Disaster Dragons who were a pure Dragon deck to keep Totem Dragon live, and even without the Premature Burial OTKs could on its own clear you opponent's board.

The only reason feather duster is on the list and not Raigeki is probably because of the Anti-Raigeki card. The Anti-Raigeki card is so specific, though, that even having one in your deck is stupid. You just have to know that your opponent even has a Raigeki AND you have to lay the trap before they play Raigeki.

Ahhh the joys of some of those cards. I remember when I played Yu-Gi-Oh, I built it like a Magic: The Gathering deck focusing on card advantage... Delinquent Duo, Pot of Greed, Swords of Revealing Light, Cyber Jar, Magician of Faith, Man-Eater Bug, Bandit Tools, Solemn Judgement, bunch of other stuff, and just had fun with it. Was such a good deck.
Oh man, the times where you opened with Delinquent Duo, Confiscation and The Forceful Sentry. Hand control was nasty.

One of my favourites is El Shaddoll Construct, brought out then almost immediately banned, it destroys any special summoned monster it battles (before damage calculation though so no one takes a hit to the life points, but it was brought out right as pendulum decks were really taking off) when its summoned you can send one shaddoll monster to the graveyard from your deck (which can result in a stupidly long chain of effects if you know what your doing) and when it is eventually put down it gives you back a shadoll spell/trap from the graveyard (so you can summon another one if you want)

Hard list to put to just 10, there is a lot of busted cards from the beginning of the game.
I pulled Spellbook of Judgement at the prerelease, my friend pulled the other one, & 1 guy pulled dracossack. prices for these cards at prerelease were: $120 for spellbook & $150 for draco. They went down to $65 & $80, respectively by the next weekend.

You could have also mentioned that it was popular to use the Chaos Emperor Dragos Effect to set up the Yata-lock. This was rather simple to do. Have a Sangan/Witch on the board or special summon it. Pay the 1000 life to destroy everything and search for the Yata in your deck. Your opponent is left with 0 resources and is not allowed to draw anything.
Doing this was theoretically possible from the first turn you were allowed to attack. All that mattered was how fast you can draw the emperor dragon. This wasn't even the only win condition of Chaos decks. They had loads of other stuff, like Black Luster Soldier, too. These decks used to be so dominant that they had to start to use the forbidden list and ban away the 3 monsters (Chaos Dragon, BLS, Yata).
In my list, Spellbook of Judgment and Chaos Emperor Dragon are the most broken cards ever created for two opposite reasons. If I'm not mistaken, Spellbook of Judgment can net you the largest plus of any Yugioh card ever printed (Sixth Sense and Dimension Fusion can net you maxes of plus 5s and Judgment would typically give you plus 7-10s). And I think CED is without question the most powerful monster in existence. For what it does it is unquestionable.

When I was a kid yugioh was really expensive and only rich people had decks equivalent to the American meta. During a tournament I went up against a Chaos Emperor deck and managed to win after it decimated the field and a few turns of topdecking using, ironically, the card I maindecked against it: Jowgen the Spiritualist. A good times.

Fiber Jar, Yata, Deliquent Duo, Imperial Order, Chaos Emperor Dragon, and Cyber Jar are in my top in no particular order. The other 4 can be filled in from different generations but during my time in the game, these were oppressive.
Self-Destruct Button. Being probably one of the only cards in the game that forces a draw, in the right deck, this card was like Fiber Jar in that it could reset the game if you were losing or just to fuck with your opponent. I've attended tournaments where I used this with Hope for Escape Exodia. We were in Game 7-8, past time, and still waiting on a win. I just kept using the button until I drew out Exodia.

Nowadays painful choice would be closer to number 1 - I would have personally liked a mirage of nightmare honorable mention alongside the imperial order - my favorite combo from back in the day. As always though great list.
Make a video about the longest meta relevant cards in the game. What charactheristics make a card last long enough in yugioh throught all the many formats. I'm thinking about generics cards like raigeki, and maybe evenly match will still be good in the future. It would make an intersting discussion, since it helps to know which cards are a longlasting investment.

that card literally says "if you CAN NOT" which implies that it should only die if you dont have the lifepoints to pay.

It was just poorly translated for america. It's properly worded in Japanese. The correct wording should read "At the beginning of your standby phase, you may pay 700 Life Points: If you do not; destroy this card." As of the nowadays format of wording.

I felt like Fiber Jar could have been on this list. It's a game reset apart from life points and banished cards for no cost, and all you have to do it set it face-down on your side of the field. And I believe it recycles itself. On top of that, it can also drag out tournament matches to a draw by itself. I don't think Fiber Jar will ever be bad.

XYZ was fairly well made when they first came out. Not many cards designed to spam out level 4s, all of them have effects that REQUIRE using material, and the most powerful XYZ were often archetype restricted. Then they threw ALL of that out the window with floating effects, more ignition effects, and rank 4s out the goddamn ass.

Eradicatior Epidemic Virus. I run this thing in my Odd-Eyes Pendulum Magicians and I absolutely love this Trap, but it is probably the most annoying thing I have. Your opponent's back row scaring you? Declare Trap, boom, gone, all traps in hand, gone, Traps next three turns? Gone! It can even do the same with Spells. Amazing

Armageddon Knight and other blowout cards especially raigeki would set you back 5 turns. I'm not saying yata isnt good but it sure as hell isnt the 4th most broken card.
Super Rejuvenation is another one that comes to mind, Makyura the Destructor, Fiber Jar, and Cold Wave.

If you picked up Sangan/Witch OTBF (or Exodia the forbidden one), painful choice, backup soldier, and any other random piece of exodia in your opening hand, you could win within 2 turns (that or if you pick up all 5 pieces of Exodia at the beginning, which is damn near impossible, in which case you win before the game eve has a chance to be played)

These were the cards I played with. Our decks would've been considered completely broken if these are all "broken". The thing Konami forgot was, if everything's broken, nothing's broken.
Funny that I used Black Luster - Envoy in my custom 4-in-1 Spellcaster/OTK deck. What happened was that I Special Summoned this card in a duel against my friend right before he special summoned Raviel, Lord of Phantasms and basically sent him to the Banished zone on the turn it was summoned. Literally took down and banished a Sacred Beast on the turn it was summoned
there's a fusion monster I believe called "blaze fenix the burning bombardment bird" or something like that (2800 atk). i loved using swords of revealing light and stalling opponents while getting as many cards as possible into the field and ripping them with it's burn effect (300 points per card on the field). unfortunately it couldn't attack afterwards like chaos dragon..
Destiny Hero Dogma. Halving your opponent's life points is one thing. But this dude has such a massive attack, that even if they started at max health, you would essentially take them from 8000 to 500 in one turn.
Depending on the deck, Machina Fortress can be ridiculous, regardless of how it's destroyed it can kill the opponent's cards, easy as hell summon conditions, it's only drawback is being removed from play
Chaos dragon was for sure the cause of the ban list. Luckily I always killed it when it was summoned with solum judgement but if you had nothing to block that summoning it was a killer. I kind of miss painful choice, that was my victory card there. People were so confused at the cards I would choose for it that they always chose the wrong one for me to keep. The best part was them trying to figure out why I put the black luster solider envoy of the begining and barrel behind the door in there. I pretty much had black luster solider envoy of the beginning in there to kill it all the time. People feared it so I had it in there to mess with them if they say it but I hated it and wanted to see their face when I would summon it only to ring and barrel it. If I felt out classed by monsters and was only keeping up a solid defense my strategy was to get my ring of destruction and barrel behind the door together. There was a few times I made that a one turn kill combo and every time black luster solider had to die.
You should do the most broken cards from the Anime. They make the ones on here seem tame by comparison.

The Hourglass of Courage is a pretty OP card. After its first turn, every power increase will be doubled. With the right card combination, its attack and defense can go well above 20,000.
Haha dimension fusion saved my ass so many times in junior high. And judgement dragon, it may not have the burn effect as it’s older brother but having it with a recovery cards made it fun to spam.

Yep, Chaos Emperor Dragon deserves the #1 spot. It's just mindboggingly overpowered. But in a close second spot there's Frog the Jam. Also stupidly powerful.
Crush card pre errata should have been put on this list, or at least given an honourable mention. The card alone was pretty much a win condition, and most decks back in its prime could run it. It was versatile and deadly.
The Yata lock was incredible in my time, gladly I was able to use it as soon as it came out for sometime before it got banned lol, I haven't dueled in about 8 years, been retired, the game looks to have really changed!
I think thousand eyes restrict is an overlooked broken card. Last i checked he was removed from the ban list too. No monsters but him can attack, no monsters can change their battle positions, can steal an opponents monster to gain their power, if it was to be destroyed, the opponents monster gets destroyed instead. Thats almost a complete lock, just block their spells and traps and the opponent couldnt do anything
My friend gave me a holo Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the end back in middle school because he said he didn't need it since he doesn't know how to use it's effects. Thinking back it was probably the best card I have ever owned. I never managed to get any good stuffs when I was buying these...

My favorite broken card Power Bond. Machine-specific fusion summoning with an added bonus, double the attack value at the cost of the original value's amount in lifepoints.
It is not broken.It can sack you a game or two but not broken.
Even without the errata, I don't see Choas Emperor impacting the meta too much. The reason I say that is because both the meta and lower tiers tend to run four solemn cards and sides in Choas Trap hole.

Okay, this just shows how old I am. I own just about all these cards. I had no idea they were broken though because I was a first generation Yu-Gi-Oh player and played it for the first 2 years or so when it first came out. I was a MTG player before hand and found this game to be a nice break from MTG. however I would go back to MTG about 2 years later. So when I played this game a lot of pleople had these cards because most of these were from the first couple sets. Now about 14 years later I am finding out I have a gold mine of Yu-Gi-Oh cards lol. Yeah...I'm old...
I'm not really a Yu Gi Oh player, but I would have thought Pot of Greed would have featured in this list. It's not a game winning card, but it is free card advantage with no cost or downside to playing it. Even if it had read "Draw 1 card" it would still effectively reduce the size of your deck. If you had a card in Magic that read "Discard this card from your hand: Draw 1 card." every deck would run four. There is no reason not to run as many of the card as you can. That to me is a sign of broken design.

Have a card like Witch of the Black Forest. Have Chaos Emperor Dragon nuke the field and both players hands. Search Yata-Garasu.
Your opponent is literally unable to win or do pretty much anything, while you slowly peck them to death with a spirit crow.
back when it was legal i used to use yata-garasu with spirit reaper and 3 megamorphs on a vampire lady, this effectively locked the opponent down and then i slowly milled his/her deck to nothing. my friends later requested i never use the deck ever again x)
Painful choice is even a good card without graveyard effects, because you could thin your deck by 5 cards and not even losing card advantage.
God I remember that Yata-lock beatdown combo because some asshole in my high school back in the day would always use it to win. Don't ever expect Yata-Garatsu, Sangan, and Chaos Emperor Dragon to ever make it off the banlist because of that BS.
dimension fusion is essentially a better version of return from the different dimension for both players
before I even knew about the "Ban list" I traded my Raviel, Lord of Phantasms for Envoy of the beginning and end, plus a few oldschool cards. My highlight of the deck was a light/dark theme. I had the Warlords of darkness leading the charge on the Dark side, and Silent Magician leading the charge for the Light. The Deck was built to cycle fast and either win with a big creature or just wait until I got one of the envoy's (actually only won a handful of the hundreds of duels with either of those cards. 90% of my wins came from getting Silent Magician on the field)
BTW... a Creature with 3500 ATK that is immune to spell cards -.- dumb card
I use the Forbidden version of Riryoku, it drains half your opponents life points and adds them to one of your monsters attack points. So if used early in the duel, your monster will have over 4000 attack+ its original attack. Gives you a very solid wall right off the bat.

I had an argument with someone about how I don't think Yata-Lock would be as rampant now due to the amount of cards that have a "You can banish this card from your graveyard Negate the attack" Sure emperor dragon + Yata would still suck (cant happen due to errata) but you still have a turn to turn things around.
I really thought Herald of Perfection would be on here. Combined with Safe Zone/Royal Decree and Archlord Krystia, it's pretty much a lock down when running a fairy deck.
I remember my deck back in the days a mix of Yata-garasu, Raigeki and Harpies feather duster. The moment I saw the opponent having 1 or none cards on his hands. I would use the feather, afterwards Raigeki so his whole field was empty. Than summon Yata_Garasu. Next round he can't draw and if he doesn't have a monster on his hand he is done. I won like 2/3 of my matches plus the local school tournament this way.
A lot of these cards could've been fair if there's greater or additional cost added to them. One thing I like about Magic: The Gathering more than YuGiOh is precisely that YGO cards is harder to balance without mana cost.
My favorite broken card and one i think should be on the list (the video is great just in case im not critisizing ur list nor anything xD) is Future Fusion, broken as hell allows u to summon up to 2 FGD easily and do some dragon combos OP, not to mention othe fusionr cards that can benefit from it xD

Now it is not so powerful, but in its age, Raigeki was often a winnning condition.
Delinquent duo was bad but only because we didn't get Mystical Ref Panel until very late in the meta... It would have rocked for you to go first, put a MRP facedown and watch your opponent eat his own Delinquent Duo's effect and pay life to boot.
Or letting Goyo Guardian attack one of your monsters and turning up a Remove Brainwashing so that the destroyed monster is summoned to your side of the field rendering him useless. Also lovable to use a Lava Golem to do away with pesky monsters and using Remove Brainwashing to keep a 3000 attack monster while doing away with two of your opponent's. 1000 damage for getting rid of trap or magic card resistant monsters? Pfft...
I used to use Dimension Fusion with Tyranno Infinity and Soul Release in a dinosaur deck. let a bunch of weak Dinosaurs die, Soul Release to banish them, Tyranno Infinity is a 4 star monster that gains attack equal to the number of dinosaurs you have removed from play x1000 so you can easily get a 5000 monster on the field, if not higher. if that gets destroyed by a trap or whatever, Dimension Fusion all your monsters back

all the deskbots or more specifically deskbot 003 and machine duplication with this combo alone you can get a 15000 atk monster on field to do this play deskbot 003 and use his normal summon effect to special summon deskbot 002 and activate it's effect to get 008/006 then use machine duplication on 002 use there effect to get 005/007 and 009 then place 008/006 and 005/007 in the pendulum zones and pendulum summon 009 then activate his effect and 003 second effect on 009 then you have a 12000 atk monster but it will get better when the field card deskbot base is available
Acoqliphort Towers. First of it's kind :) I remember a storm of youtube vids talking about this card when it was announced. Now the only reason it's still banned is marketing value :p
Hmm... No, I can't argue against Chaos Emperor Dragon's no. 1 spot.
Though, I'm currently salty about Cyber Dragon Infinity. Ability to negate any card effect four times? That's really bad news for any deck that relies on monster effects, spells or traps to summon monsters - and that's most of the decks out there.
Well, there is a weakness in its effect, but it's difficult to find the exact setup to exploit it. Most of the time, the successful summoning of Cyber Dragon Infinity means defeat for me.
I would have liked to see magical scientist or metamorphosis mentioned. but I'm just nostalgic for the goat control ftk/otk I used.

When I use to play in local tournaments Chaos Dragon Yata lock was a win conditions.. delinquent duo and then right after use forceful sentry lol.. (this was before a ban list ever existed)
I wouldn't agree with all of this, but it is a tough list to make and to limit down to 10. Not a bad attempt really. Even before cards were made that wanted to go to the grave Painful choice was amazing. I would hold onto it and then push for the win with any 5 cards that could screw my opponent. It was also used for dumping dark and light into the grave for BLS and CED
I used to like using Delinquent Duo in combination with Magic Thorn. In addition to the card loss, the opponent also loses the same amount of life points you do!
"many believe Chaos Emperor Dragon is the card most responsible for the creation of the banned list itself" Even though he wasn't on the first banned list. By that, I mean the 10 card banned list that never made it to the TCG. He was on the first TCG banned list.

VixXstazosJOB Yep, Yata was a problem long before Chaos Emperor Dragon was printed. Chaos Emperor Dragon just made the hand control decks everyone was already using even better.
i and a few others always said that if you take away the combo with yata CED becomes the lesser of the two envoys. i think his unrestricted status in the ocg proves that.

One card I liked using on my XYZ opponents is Ground Collapse. Get 3 of these out and your opponent has to win without monsters on his side of the field. Of course there are a lot of ways your opponent can destroy this card. When I used it it was very annoying for my opposition.
