I keep a kind of long 12mm bolt with 2 washers and a 12mm nut to "press" those alternator bolt guides back instead of hammering them. I leave it on my cart since j do enough elternators. Especially the Toyotas since they have the nut on the alternator and sometime rebuilt come with the nut way too pressed in where it won't fit onto brakes on engine worked like a charm and no hammers lol. Always appreciate the content and congrats on the new tool box and new job 🙌👏🔩🔧

Justin Dow... Great video bro.. When it's customers vehicle we wait for parts. When it's our own we do what we have to do to get back on the road. We've all been there.. Thanks for sharing..

Justin is it just me or is it a
mechanics car is always the last
to be fixed!! I had a customer who
    brought his 2002 Buick LeSaber
into the dealership I worked at
and a ground hog had climbed
under the hood and went to town
    chewing on everything, the reason
I know it was a groundhog was it
was still there when I opened the
    the hood!!! The Service manager
called the Dog catcher and he came
in and got a noose on it and got it
out of the engine bay, that thing
    had to weigh 30 pounds!!!
    Cheers and Dueces!!!

      @@k9under I'm not sure,
      Ground Hogs here in Indiana
like to dig holes to get under stuff
and they chew up everything they
can, they average about 30 to 40
pounds here and have some nasty
      teeth!!

Man I’m telling the rat tape is magic! I’ve broke so many ears using the hammer punch method to the brackets. I find it the best way as well! Good work Justin good ole Chevy man

Make a puller with a 19mm socket, a bolt, a nut, and a washer. No more broken ears.

With that wiring issue you had. That defaults the charging system on gm’s and lots of other newer cars. And why it charges higher then you would want. Wouldn’t leave you stranded but never know it could. Needs that circuit in tack to tell pcm and bcm and instrument cluster on how to control charging system. Your old alternator problay was still good.

Thanks for putting out content while so busy. I've purchased alternator pigtails at autozone in-stock so they might have a GM one. Rodents do wondrous electrical work in my neck of the wood also!

Instead of using a hammer, I use a puller consisting of a 19mm socket, a bolt, a nut, and a washer. Pushes them through every time.

Love it og wrenching when you gotta make it work, I've used a butt connector and Electrical tape to hold a broken vacuum line together before and mini vise grips as a battery clamp

just out of curiosity is there junk yards out your way where you can pull parts from?

  • @martincalvillo3210
    @martincalvillo3210 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

just so you know rebuilding that connector is still a possibility when you decide to go back in there and fix it. I've had to do it on a couple of customer vehicles when a pigtail is unavailable. you take apart the connector and remove the pin. remove the rubber plug that is crimped on to make the connector water tight and then solder a length of copper wire to that little piece left over. and then put it all back together. Not the first choice in repairing harnesses but when there is no pigtail available it is what I opt for
