My goodness, I had no idea that goof Belushi (who I like) got to feel up Dyanne Thorne? And Ritter (always awesome) got to roll around with her? Wonders shall never cease.
Does anyone else wonder what the heck the editor wanted with that snap cut to Belushi with the coffee cup, nodding? WTF was that supposed to mean? Dyanne Thorne of course looking stunning as a mature woman. The Transsexual concept here is off the charts bizarre but it was the 80's and they could do bizarre, strange stuff in film. (The misuse of pronouns for "DAD" is over the top.) Still it cracks me up every time.
It's an awful cut and almost totally ruins a very funny punchline (the Iwo Jima picture). but I don 't blame the editor so much as the director and cameraman who shot the last few shots by breaking the century-old 180 degree horizontal line which you're NEVER supposed to cross with the camera ! (Everything is fine until 3:42, when the camera is positioned at Belushi's right and Ritter's left. Suddenly at 3:44, the camera is facing Ritter, then at 3:49 it's inexplicably at Ritter's right (crossing the 180 line) and then facing Belushi a little to his left !! TOTAL FAIL at Basic Film School 101 stuff here ... Poor editor didn't stand a chance and must have been cursing looking for a better usable shot LOL
