Running diagonally is preferred over sliding in the current speedrun meta. The serious mode powerup shows HUGE potential to crush the current speedrun WR, but the skill ceiling for its use is so damn high that we've yet to see anyone viably use it in a run. Oh, and a little tip for you. While the music in the game is fantastic there's a neat little secret you can find. Mute the music, open Spotify on your computer, and play a playlist called POST VOID while playing the game. It's full of music the devs liked to listen to while playing, and you get a prize if you listen to it while the game's running.
Yeah, just looking at the current WR it's so crazy how smooth the whole game looks. Like the guy only turns the camera when changing his strafe direction. It almost doesn't even seem very chaotic watching such a good run moving through the halls. Awesome, I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip!

EDIT: So it's been brought to my attention that the knife is in fact incredibly strong, and is most likely the best weapon in the game... Oops. Unfortunately, it looks like I didn't spend enough time with it to discover that it has a charge attack. I wish I could go back and change this section, but I guess it's there to stay. I was wrong though, and feel free to keep telling me in the comments.
I love how everything in this game is a headache metaphor, from the intentionally headache inducing visuals to things like that universal feeling of wanting to just squeeze the liquid pain out of your head.
The Knife is actually probably one of the best weapons considering that the held down attack (the Big Slash) instantly cuts down enemies in front of you and cuts through enemies if there's more than one. It also allows you to literally run THROUGH enemies if you time the Big Slash correctly, with the normal tapping attack (requiring two hits to down an enemy) being more like a side-arm if there's anyone left.
I think the section where I talk about the knife is one of the biggest regrets of my life. Within the first days of putting this review out I found out I was so completely wrong about it lol. Not sure how I didn't figure out the Big Slash, but yeah it's insanely strong!
Bought it on a whim, and holy fuck I love it. I only wish there was some sort of co-op where a group of people were let loose on the map to see who survived the longest.
It's probably the most stimulating game I've ever played. I never got around to Doom or Doom Eternal, but now I don't know if I set the bar too high with Post Void.
Lol I might have to agree with you. I went back to play it again after a day off and it still took me a while just to adjust again. lol I'm not sure, Doom Eternal might not be visually crazy but its gameplay loop is insane. I think it's probably the most fun fps I've played in years.

I really wanted to love this game, but it gives me a headache after only 10 minutes of playing, and the music was really obnoxious after a while. Now I can deal with obnoxious music, but I really wish there were options to turn down some of the post processing effects and the flashing lights.
I'm sorry to hear that. It is for sure a hard game to handle, and yeah I think you'll know in the first couple minutes if it's gonna be the kind of thing you can enjoy. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening since about 90% of this games identity is in the post processing, and beyond that the devs seem to love their game being so out there. That being said, I also hope they eventually add such options for all the people that straight up can't play it.

Been playing a lot of this game and I would actually say that the shotgun is the best late game weapon. The reload time and double-shot clip is crippling without upgrades in later levels, but the reload and clip size upgrades make is scale way harder than any of the other weapons since its damage and AOE is insanely good. Starting at level 4, you have to be a lot more careful about running in anyway due to those meaty manhacks.
as someone who was 6th best in the world the knife is the only way to truly speed run and get the top score... the knife is the most viable weapon in the game.
Lol I think I'm gonna be living with my shame on that one for as long as this video is still getting views. Every week or so I get a nice reminder about how wrong I was about the knife. It's like a waking nightmare. Like a shadow that's always following me, and sometimes I forget that it's even there but it always makes a return. Any who congratz on the run, that is seriously awesome! Now I'm going to try to forget about this knife business again until the next comment comes in.

@@PootsNDoots one thing to keep note of is the knife is only really viable after level 3. the first 3 levels you wanna get as many headshots as possible because u cant headshot when you super slash evereything. so if you get a good time you wont have a good score cause you only got like 10 headshots. the more levels you can beat without the knife the higher your score in the end. but if you dont use a knife your gonna be fucked if you try to strafe run and dash levels 5-10 too many enemies to make it thru with that pistol.

You know it’s funny because after I had recorded that section on the knife I was thinking it’s just a matter of time before people start doing knife runs and make me look dumb. Literally the WR speedrun I see the next day uses a knife and he is running around one shotting everything lol.
only use Explosive Ammo, Faster Reloading, More shots and Bouncing Bullets until you get the shotgun(preferably after stage 3), the only Problem are theFlamingos(Blue Bity Things). You can get up to 4 shots per mag this way. Then rush the shit out of stages 5 to 11.
I just disagree with you in question about the knife , in my opinion is one of the best weapons , it takes like , 1 second to charge a powerfull atack that can kill basically any enemy at the game ,u can also just spam w + m1 that u gonna pretty much slash everything in the way , it also don't need to reload
bro, you need to hold the button for the knife, that kills in one hit. it needs timing. it's also not useless considering the fact that the previous world record for this game was done with the knife lmao.

Fun fact: Every weapon in Post Void is 1 hit. You hold the knife to slash, Hit headshots with the Pistol and Uzi, and direct hits and Shotguns.
I've played this on shrooms and couldn't get past the 4th level; it got way too scary

It's also pretty good for aim training. But I feel like there is some sort of aim assist, the headshots are sometimes wayyy too consistent.
For real, it seems like the headshot box is absolutely gigantic. Kinda reminds me of the old CS:S hitboxes being pretty massive.
