    I have a D300 90 it’s our third family car I have a 530e BMW as a company car. But honestly I find myself using the 90 much more than I anticipated, my Children are 19 and 22 and at University so don’t need to go in the back, two dogs are happy on back seats or in boot with seats down, it’s a great drive and mile munching machine, the car is fairly economical if not heavy on right foot, but the acceleration and midrange shove for overtake is surprisingly rapid..our 22yr old is absolutely in love with the car and has gone away for the weekend with his Girlfriend choosing it over my Wife’s 718 Porsche..and in the two years I have owned it Depreciation has been glacial, and in 15000 miles totally reliable ❤❤❤

    Max...One word..Iconic! A new icon. Land Rover got this so right. Yes, like you from 'day 1', nigh on perfect. And yes the 90 every time. That said there are some great examples in terms of spec on some 110 models i have seen. In a two 'car' garage this would have to be one of them. Excellent review as always. Cheers Max, appreciated.

    The snorkel has zero to do with wading/water depth. It’s for dust. The wading depth is 900mm with or without the raised air intake

    TBCH when they launched this I totally hated it, because the old shape was spot on, but then it grew on me.. so I now have a 130.

    Have had Defenders all my life - built my first one from two donor vehicles 40 years ago even before I had my licence. Sadly, they don't make Defenders anymore - that is why I now have a Grenadier.

    One small complaint: you neglected to talk about the space or lack of it behind the front two seats. Otherwise a good review of the defender 400.👍

    We have been a landrover fan for years (30 yrs plus)..... at one point we had 4.....90, 110, D1 and the L322 the daily driver......all V8. The D1 has gone but the others are still alive. Your P400 im impressed with, better hp, more torque and better mpg than the L322.....how so! BUT what is it like towing? Wont be getting one soon, but on the list of's in the line up in our family! Thanks for the review.

    Brilliant cars, although I did have to reject mine due to drivetrain vibration. Looking for another, having driven 5 of them mine was definitely a "Friday car", it was not normal. It really does feel luxury but practical, not actually as big as it looks either, overall width is less than a Discovery Sport. Loved every minute, but finding a replacement with the same roof mine had (folding) is proving a challenge.

    I think those were 22" wheels and not 20" as stated. If in doubt, read what it says on the tyre ('tire' US spelling).

    I've driven a few old Defenders and Jeep Wranglers, and I know this is a different world to those cars, but what they have in common is they have SWB and LWB options. I found the LWB vehicles were way better to drive, the SWB ones were really twitchy and difficult to put in a straight line I always thought. How does the SWB new Defender drive, does it iron out those kinks or do you think a LWB one would be an even better on road experience?

    Great review. I'd love to see a comparison between the equivalent LR Discovery v Defender. I've owned 2 Disco D5's and am about to purchase a third but love the look of the Defender just like everyone else. However, each time I've gone to buy the Defender I've chickened out and stuck with the D5 for a couple of reasons. 1. I find the interior of the D5 a tad more luxurious and the centre screen a tad larger. 2. The tops of the door arms on the Defender are a tad narrower than the D5 and I'm always using that area to rest my elbow plus you get the captain's armrests which don't come in the Defender. 3. The Defender seems a bit noisier due to the more upright front windscreen creating more wind noise. 4: The Defender is slightly slower and more thirstier due to that boxier shape. 5: The luggage space in the 110 is terrible compared to the D5 and 6: That back door on the defender is a pain in the ass, especially when the opening space is no bigger than that of a Suzuki Jimmy. But there's no denying the look of the Defender is the big selling point and also resale. So....would love to hear your opinion after a comparo. Cheers

    Is the color Eiger Grey or Silicon Silver?

    • @TheUKNZ
      @TheUKNZ 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DrivenPlus They are absolutely 22"...you can see the number on the tyres (pause at 1.05 ) ...I have a P400X 90 and they came with 22" wheels and those are same as mine.

    • @Defender_Bob
      @Defender_Bob 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can confirm that the wheels are indeed 22" (the 20" are dark grey, and as @TheUKNZ points out, you can see it quite clearly on the tyrewall at the 5 o'clock position). I would also like to point out that the car is a Defender X, not an X Dynamic SE. The X is 2 steps up the spec ladder compared to the SE. Various things give this away, like the smoked rear lights, gloss black bumpers, black steering wheel arms and the Defender X badge on the sides. Also, as far as I'm aware, the P400 was never sold in the UK in SE trim, only diesel engines. Lastly, if the HUD is in the wrong position, it can be altered in the settings menu, and the new position can be remembered for the particular key you're using. Hope this helps.

    This car is great but its not a Defender, its the Pretender or the Contender. This is everything a real Defender should not be. Over powered, massively expensive and over complicated. Its supposed to be a utility vehicle. Mmmm! me thinks they strayed from the original reason remit.

    • @hughmarcus1
      @hughmarcus1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They’re a business. The new Defender is very successful that’s the point JLR make vehicles people want to buy.
      The old one wasn’t actually profitable. The new one is.

      It’s called evolution. Everything eventually will and must change. The other side of that coin is the argument that nothing has changed it still looks old and dated in its design, it’s too slow, lacking power and it’s too cheap so everyone can buy one which takes away the exclusivity of the brand.

    • @USCFCDGAF
      @USCFCDGAF 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Get over it. No one is making a car like the original defender in the year of our lord 2024 (or since 2020 I guess for this new defender). Anyone who wants that can go buy an old one for less than these new one costs. These new ones are just as capable off road while being much more livable in every single way.
