VW Jetta is one of my favorite compact sedan, you can tell that this car has German characteristics in it. 1.8 Turbo and dual clutch transmission is a perfect match in this car. You wont feel the turbo lag with the transmission, and the gas pedal is very responsive as soon as you put your foot down.
I bought the 2019 Jetta brand new and with 55,000 miles I haven't had any problems

I have a 2018, all problems fixed under warranty. 60k miles. Have had Totyotas, Hondas, Jetta seems economical to me, always runs well and reliably.
I have a 2019 Jetta S auto and after 4.5 years, have had no major issues other than the transmission "growl" many others have. I do ensure oil changes every 5k miles and periodically check the engine bay for problems. Maintenance is key with any car.

I own a 2006 corolla and a 2016 jetta. I purchased both of them brand new. I can see both of your arguments and agree except that I love jetta more because the the driving experience and the interior. I love the corolla reliability but always hated driving it so I will probably not ever buy one again. I really wish I could love the corolla, but it drives like shit and I can hear the road noise pretty bad even when I drove it off the dealer's lot.

The regular Jetta's DO NOT have dual clutch transmissions... They have an AISAN 8-Speed TORQUE CONVERTED transmission. No DCT
