I play easy-ass games. I like stuff like Kirby, classic Sonic and Pokemon. They're enjoyable, but they're all boringly easy (with the exception of maybe classic Sonic) This damn cat in pop fever was the hardest boss I have ever faced and will ever face. Every single time I feel like I've beat him, it's never enough. He always counters me with some dumb 7-chain or fever. It encouraged me to get better, though. I looked up tutorials, got better in single player, and slowly got faster. And eventually, after 3 months of on and off playing, I finally beat this damn cat. And after I beat him, I felt a sense of accomplishment that I had never felt in any other video game. This cat is almost my motivation for life right now. Around the time I got this game, I was a sophmore in high school and was still recovering from my apathy from junior high and freshman year. The sense of power that I felt when I beat Popoi is what I think of when I start to not care about something. Don't even get me started on the music.
The AI can be fascinating, most of the time it’s kicking your ass and other times it’s acting stupid and killing itself for some reason. the sonic team definitely improved the ai when compared to compile ai, compile ai don't know how to chain, and place pieces arbitrarily, which can cause death a lot of the time.
This is pretty accurate. I remember playing Puyo puyo fever a couple years ago for the first time and this was a surprisingly hard fight. It was fun though. This theme fits the boss pretty well considering “haha 8 chain”.
In the GBA version it's labeled as "Well-balanced..?", so that one is true, it is a well balanced in terms of the gameplay style... it's just ridiculously op.
