This kit shows what I like about Bandai. They clearly lead the field in model kit engineering, but they still try to push themselves to innovate, with the black plastic here, or the transforming RG unicorn.
Just a note: The "Gunner Wizard" is actually the weapon + backpack + energy tank, referring to the whole set much like how the Striker packs are called, e.g. "Launcher Striker", because "Wizard" in this case refers to the interchangeable backpack system for the Zaku Warrior. The actual cannon itself is called the M1500 Orthros. It's an important distinction to note especially if they make more MG Zaku Warrior variants down the line, like the Blaze Zaku Warrior with the Blaze Wizard pack and the Slash Zaku Warrior with the Slash Wizard pack.
Really fond of the aesthetic. I'm a sucker for most stuff in Destiny, and I LOVE how this kit takes the Zaku design from Destiny and gives it a bit more detail on it's armour. REALLY hoping they do something like this for the Gouf Ignited from Destiny one day, as while I adore that MS, it's armour comes off as a little plain to me.
@@lacedoalcedo um no...... you goes are thinking ZEON and Earth fed..... there weapons had incompatibility with targeting and operation the incompatibility you MIGHT be thinking is how the weapons are powered. the seed's new gundam series were prototypes powered by the specific weapon systems with each model. the strikes weapon packs need the actual full pack attached to fire......... if zaft stole the energy weapons they would prob fire until drained then be unable to recharge.

The hands make a LITTLE sense when you remember that, unlike the late UC Mobile suits, CE Mobile suits still have different hand plugs for their weapons in-universe, depending on your faction. As ORB built the first GAT-X units, their parts are compatible, but the M1 Astray's weapons are incompatible with, let's say: the Strike. This is the same IU excuse on why the Duel didn't use a newly designed rifle after getting the Assault Shroud. Eg. A Strike Dagger COULD still a GiNN's Machine Gun, but no targeting system(basically firing blind). But a GiNN can't use a Dagger's beam rifle(no targeting system, and no connection to the power pack).
Good review 👍 As for the MG, it is solid. The proportion is good. The color nice as well as the details. Personally, I like the grunt suit from Zeon esp Zaku series so this will be my next target. Aside from the divided opinion about the series and universe, Zaku from seed series is a good one. It will be nice if Bandai decide to make MG for Geara Zulu☺️
Seed was a modernized version of the original Mobile Suit Gundam. It’s not the worst Gundam show ever, it’s still better than Wing. Destiny is the Zeta modernization. It takes all of the negative aspects of Seed and turns them up by five. It reuses animation very frequently, and the characters are written way worse.
To fix the wizzard you can clean it and paint the recessed details to break the colour a litle bit, also I used putty to fill the handle, painted it with a gundam marker and glued the wire.
Yes. I really miss those days.. Were MG was trully The the Golden of Master Grades. Really miss those intricate innerframes with movable piston joints.. Now, Bandai is more of a short cuts & cash grab.
The beam axe was supposed to be stored inside the shield and ejected from the top of the shield, but they didn't include that feature; which was a heavy bummer for this gorgeous kit.
So the black plastic is the same kind of plastic they use on action figures where they're slightly bendable? Neat. Hope to see this in future kits. Also ZAFT Frame? MG GINN and Guiaz soon?? Hope to see my boi GINN represented.
good trick for decals on curved surface's, get a lighter and quickly run it past the sticker, it'll melt slightly and hug the surface better. easy to screw up, but with some softner/setter it's a good trick if you don't want to spring for dry transfers/water slides.
I just built this exact kit yesterday and it's my first master grade kit and it's actually fun to build and I'm not entirely done yet because I'm waiting for the waterslide decals to arrive so I can work with the details and also panel line it

In the SEED Destiny anime the machine gun and heat hawk look the same as the UC versions, but the gun is a beam rifle and the magazines are e-caps instead. They've been redesigned for the model kit. The main gun is called a "wizard" because it's part of a bunch of different weapons packs for the Destiny Zakus, like the Strike's striker packs or the Impulse's silhouette packs.
That's because it didn't. The model kit looks 10x better XD. If they do Yzaks custom Zaku or Rey's Blaze Zaku Phantom I might grab one. Was never a fan of the giant foldable long guns Zaft was so fond of.

So the “wizard” name refers to the backpack system. The zakus have different pack packs. There’s the gunner wizard, the blaze wizard, and the slash wizard. There are also different versions of the Zaku itself. This one is the warrior and there’s also a zaku phantom that features 2 shields and the command antenna
I’m assuming you can pop the shield shoulder on to the other side if you wanted with little to no alterations, so if you had two kits you could equip two shields.

There's a reason I adore the mecha designs of the Seed series. I don't think even the (rational) critics of the series go after this aspect of the series. Going to pick this up to go along with my other MG's pretty soon.
Recently just bought and built the kit and I have to say I'm extremely satisfied. However, with that said this was my first ever master kit. I've recently gotten back into Gunpla about 2 months ago and have only built 5 HG kits that I got from hobby lobby and they were good, well 4 of them were good. The 5th and undoubtedly the was was the HG Leo and god that thing is a floppy mess, I get its suppose to be a cheap army builder but dam, the hg rx-78-2 cost like $2 more and I checked online and its the same so that's pretty shitty. Getting back to this kit though. I love it. It is extremely sturdy in the primary joints. I did have to add some super glue to the hand balljoints and to the shield tri ball joint thing(the thing that holds the shied in place on the shoulder) and that's it. Every other joint has been extremely stiff and sturdy but not so much that it feels like its going to break. I do agree that the mech itself feels really high quality and sturdy but the gun looks a little cheap. But it has been very sturdy and holds its position well. A few things I wanted to point out though is that my mech does have a "gigidy gigidy", the heavy gun tube varnish does reach from end to and and stays put even after moving, my waist turns farther without having to lift the body up(you can just slightly lift the two front skirts up and it can turn farther. But my biggest gripe I have to say is how terribly the hands hold the gun and the beam assault rifle. The trigger hand is ok but I would have preferred a grove or peg that helps hold the gun and secondly is the the opposite arm has a hard time holding the Beam ARs front grip. All in all I'm still very happy with this kit.
I definitely liked the Johnny Ridden's custom's mono eye better. That extra turnable joint in the head/neck that's attached to a gear to turn the eye meant you could adjust the eye any time without taking it off (even if I did accidentally strip the gear on mine >.>).

Love the look of this Zaku as well, but dislike the backpack and gun. Planning on making mine a very late model Zeon Zaku variant. Planning to retrofit a Ms-06r backpack and painting in a similar pattern to a MS-06r as well. I have already added the command fin to the head.
I looked into picking this up for the gun alone due to the MG Eclipse having support for it in the Eclipse's transformed form. Happy to see the actual kit itself is amazing, and that goofy gun will have a much better home now. 😂
I don't know if you've covered this before, but are dry transfers not standard anymore for an MG? The newest kit I've built was the MG Dynames and was surprised and a little disappointed that it was only sticker decals
This beast was so fun and simple to build. Man so thicc. I love it. One problem is that I feel like buying a pack of Marlboro Reds every time I look at it.
you weren't able to get right hand on the other handle for the gun wizard were you, it snapped off twice on mine(two hours for the glue to dry wasted).
Kind of puzzled why they didn’t do the regular green Zaku Warrior first but hopefully it’s not far behind Lunamaria’s. Still glad to see at least one ZW get an MG shine.

I expected Bandai to create a new 1/100 ZAFT フレーム.; especially with all of the potential variants.
This very likely means Bandai intends on making variants (P-Bandai mostly) of things like:
- MG ZGMF-1000/A1 Gunner ZAKU Warrior (green)
- MG ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior (green)
- MG ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior (Lunamaria Hawke Custom)

I don't think they really need to have a lot of inner details.
A lot of newer MGs tend to not focus on inner details on the frames much these days.
It won't matter since after you cover it up with the armor parts, you won't see it.

It's most likely has different size/shape hand parts, even though they're the same finger swapping style MG hands.
I agree though it is a slight waste of potential.

The ウィザード パック (Wizard Pack) is just the naming system used.
It's the equivalent to ストライカー パック (Striker Pack) or the シルーエット パック (Silhouette Pack) used by GAT-X105 Strike Gundam and ZGMF-X56S Impulse Gundam respectively.
There's a lot of Wizard Packs including:
- EX-A1 Gunner Wizard
- EX-K Slash Wizard
- EX-M Blaze Wizard
- EX-AAL Noctiluca Wizard
- EX-R4 Command Wizard
- EX-EZ1200 EZ Wizard
- EX-G1 Knight Wizard
- Kerberos Wizard
So I expect to see variants that use these Wizard Packs to get a P-Bandai release.

I have 2 of those that I am customizing into 1 single machine... I’m moving the power unit (salvaged parts from a GN-X) to the middle and adding a second beam cannon
So the “wizard” name refers to the backpack system. The zakus have different pack packs. There’s the gunner wizard, the blaze wizard, and the slash wizard. There are also different versions of the Zaku itself. This one is the warrior and there’s also a zaku phantom that features 2 shields and the command antenna

I’m assuming you can pop the shield shoulder on to the other side if you wanted with little to no alterations, so if you had two kits you could equip two shields.

1 big let down for me is why remove the tomahawk storage from the shield. In the first episode athrun pulled it out from it
There's a reason I adore the mecha designs of the Seed series. I don't think even the (rational) critics of the series go after this aspect of the series. Going to pick this up to go along with my other MG's pretty soon.
Recently just bought and built the kit and I have to say I'm extremely satisfied. However, with that said this was my first ever master kit. I've recently gotten back into Gunpla about 2 months ago and have only built 5 HG kits that I got from hobby lobby and they were good, well 4 of them were good. The 5th and undoubtedly the was was the HG Leo and god that thing is a floppy mess, I get its suppose to be a cheap army builder but dam, the hg rx-78-2 cost like $2 more and I checked online and its the same so that's pretty shitty. Getting back to this kit though. I love it. It is extremely sturdy in the primary joints. I did have to add some super glue to the hand balljoints and to the shield tri ball joint thing(the thing that holds the shied in place on the shoulder) and that's it. Every other joint has been extremely stiff and sturdy but not so much that it feels like its going to break. I do agree that the mech itself feels really high quality and sturdy but the gun looks a little cheap. But it has been very sturdy and holds its position well. A few things I wanted to point out though is that my mech does have a "gigidy gigidy", the heavy gun tube varnish does reach from end to and and stays put even after moving, my waist turns farther without having to lift the body up(you can just slightly lift the two front skirts up and it can turn farther. But my biggest gripe I have to say is how terribly the hands hold the gun and the beam assault rifle. The trigger hand is ok but I would have preferred a grove or peg that helps hold the gun and secondly is the the opposite arm has a hard time holding the Beam ARs front grip. All in all I'm still very happy with this kit.
Love it minus the eye especially since other MGs have the one that rotates form the neck turning :/ but still want it for sure !
I definitely liked the Johnny Ridden's custom's mono eye better. That extra turnable joint in the head/neck that's attached to a gear to turn the eye meant you could adjust the eye any time without taking it off (even if I did accidentally strip the gear on mine >.>).
Honestly, this is my one of my fav gundam designs.

I swear this is my experience too, I usually go for 00/Exia styles of Gunpla. This kit is badass though, Zakus usually bore me.

The Slash or Blaze-Zaku Phantom or Gouf Ignited would be an awesome MG kit.
Im starting to believe marking stickers are meant to be on a topcoated model to reduce the contrast. Haven't tried tho but its on my wish list.
If I remember correctly, there are multiple "wizard" packs in seed. Wizard Gunner is just one of them.

Love the look of this Zaku as well, but dislike the backpack and gun. Planning on making mine a very late model Zeon Zaku variant. Planning to retrofit a Ms-06r backpack and painting in a similar pattern to a MS-06r as well. I have already added the command fin to the head.

I looked into picking this up for the gun alone due to the MG Eclipse having support for it in the Eclipse's transformed form.
Happy to see the actual kit itself is amazing, and that goofy gun will have a much better home now. 😂

I don't know if you've covered this before, but are dry transfers not standard anymore for an MG? The newest kit I've built was the MG Dynames and was surprised and a little disappointed that it was only sticker decals

you weren't able to get right hand on the other handle for the gun wizard were you, it snapped off twice on mine(two hours for the glue to dry wasted).

the 2 shades of red look like crap to me. since it NEEDS clean up anyways it would probably look awesome in another shade.

You don’t just have to bend the cables you can just use a hair dryer or a heat gun for like 2-3 second
I got the limited clear one at the exhibition but the standard one looks cooler, especially top coated
Kind of puzzled why they didn’t do the regular green Zaku Warrior first but hopefully it’s not far behind Lunamaria’s. Still glad to see at least one ZW get an MG shine.
