I am finally satisfied with my search for a full flat grind, 3-inch knife. The bottle opener is a great bonus, and I no longer need to carry my Swiss Army Knife with a bottle opener. This knife is excellent for slicing fruits, beef steak, and other food prep tasks.😊
So i just picked up the blue QUBIT from my local WALMART!! (here in E. Texas) The store i went to just put them out on the shelves today along with the ELEMENTUM & MINI PRAXIS!! SO FREAKING EXCITED to see CIVIVI hitting big box stores! They will outsell any of the other blister pack brands in that glass display case if you ask me!
Got mine today and I thought maybe this isn’t thee knife for me cause I like flippers instead of studs , then notice the bottle opener then I figured out I don’t even need the studs to open I can just push the button and sling it out . I really love the cubit !
The Qubit is my first Civivi. I'm very glad I waited on pulling the trigger for this one because so far, it's great. I'm a lefty and it works very well for me. I got the green Damascus.
Got my qubit in the mail last night and this knife was instantly my new favorite. It blows my mind how amazing this qubit is! I paid 80 for the forged demascus blase and green aluminum scales version and its worth every penny and more. This knive would be 160 from any other company and it out performs my 200-300 dollar knives. This one is a home run for absolutely everyone looking for an edc. Its a cheap enough price to be an edc and really wear it out if you want but its also high quality enough to sit in the case with the top tier knives. This is the best knife youll find for under 160 in my honesy opinion
I really value your opinion on EDC items and I love how enthusiastic you are you about this. I own a Baby Banter and Elementum and the BB is probably one of my most carried knives from my collection. Just such a good knife for the size. I think I'm going to have to check out the Qubit soon though.
Of the Civivi knives I own (Elementum, Mini Elementum, Odium, and Nox), I actually carried the Nox more than any other. I'm not counting the mini on my keychain though. My EDC is still a titanium Bugout, but there's just something about the Nox that still speaks to me.
Yeah, that Nox is really neat looking and carries Nitro-V (I think). Currently waiting to find a great sale on a Conspirator to try out that Nitro-V steel.
I'm so glad to hear that you've gotten a hold of the Altus and have nice things to say about it. I'm not much of a knife expert and usually 2-hand knives but I find that it's so easy (yet safe) to use this knife. I also find that it's actually really really beautiful looking (I have the black one). I also like how the material of the knife is actually quite good. I haven't tried all the Civivi knives but this one caught my eye and was the one I bought. As you mentioned I love the way how it fits and feels in the hands. (I also own the Sebenza small and the Quiet Carry IQ but find this actually much easier to use)
I would appreciate all companies that offer a pocket clip that can be swapped, to include a a little blanking plate just to make the empty side a little sexier
I’m a big fan of the Chevalier and Conspirator, especially with the upgraded Ti clips. Qubit and Sokoke are the ones that’s most appealing right now. Also have a Dogma. Haven’t grabbed a new We Knife in years. Civivi have pretty much dominated any budget buys of mine for the past few years.
Lovin my mini praxis I got on your recommendation! My first Civivi! Now I want several more models. You're killing me here. I'm going to have to start working overtime!
Titanium or aluminum scales with a grippy inlay would make this a great knife. I have the 20cv titanium elementum button lock i like the knife but dont carry it as much because of dry skin that makes gripping smooth metal hard.
I own a Conspirator, Sokoke, and Baby Banter. I put a replacement clip on the Conspirator to improve its profile and it literally looks like a different but better knife. I don't see any reason to add more Civivi models to my collection at this point. The Qubit is definitely on the short list should I change my mind! Thanks for the review! 🤜🤛
Damn i love those colors... Also I wish they would put on more knives that delicate hole/nailnick like in civivi Conspirator so you can finger flip it easier. In my Damascus blade it barely visible and it work so well as a "fidget knife" that you just play with.
I only own the praxis mini in green/black, because of your glowing review and the incredible price, and I think its an easy favorite over my cheap chinese knives purchase several years ago. Only gripe is the handle is a bit small in my l-lx hands. I would have went with the elementum II if there were a copper version. I would buy the qubit on the spot if there were a grippier handle.
@@maxlvledc That's a fantasic price, lemme go check the blade, pretty sure its not super legal in Michigan... 3.75, oooh but man does that copper boi look good. I think I can open carry basically anything but conceal carry here is 3 inches. Not that I need to conceal, just don't really want to be the guy with the big visible knife.
Favorite is the regular size Banter. Yes, that’s WE, not Civivi. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive, so maybe not fair. But with the Baby Banter being a Civivi offering, feels like it’s valid in spirit.
I'd love to see a titanium Qubit with a texture (like Kizer has been rolling out with their frag Ti on the Cormorant, the mini Begleiter and now the Original XL). Not sure it's a serious concern, but if you are popping steel bottle caps frequently, I feel like it's gonna dent up the soft aluminum.
Good point that I didn't even think about, but I wouldn't use it for that purpose anyway (now even less) as I have other keychain bottle openers always at hand. Thanks.
I just ordered a Civivi Praxis w/Micarta Handle yesterday . Because the prices are going up on Civivi's . Now im Lov'n a few of these. Oh well, doesn't hurt to have a spare 😊
I love, love, love my Civivi Odium!! One Civivi gem I think is underrated for sure. It is my fav Civivi edc I have. This Qubit looks pretty awesome too though! Gotta pick one up!
Right now, my favorite civivi knife is the KC exclusive Badlands Vagabond, HOWEVER......I just ordered the Qubit with damascus, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be my new favorite once it arrives!
Nice review. Subscribed! And I have to agree with you. As soon as I got the Qubit in hand, I ordered a second one. That's how special I think this knife is.
My favorite Civivi is the Thug 2, plan on buying the Qubit, i really love the clean design, we shall see if that becomes my new favorite Civivi... i also have the praxis and mini praxis
Love my Civivi Cogent. Major fidget factor. Has a flipper tab on back. Looking to get another Civivi thumb deployment. Received my Kizer Orginal Black yesterday and it already broke. Some mettle flakes off the rounded part on blade that rotates out. Very frustrating. So, it look like I’ll get another Civivi. I’ve had $1000-1200 knives but always reach for the Cogent. Great knife.
I flipped my sokoke clip and started bending til it snapped then used a Dremel ( after I took it off near the end and hit the back flat . Turned out great . Feels way better with the civivi aftermarket clip . I d say that wa s worth the time and knocking the corners off the miguron moyarl , so easy to do. I used a sanding wheel on a Dremel but cleaned it up knicely with a new medium drywall sanding sponge . Going sideways with long swipes will round any edge perfectly but with the Dremel I just held the angle and ran the whole length with several passes . Anyone can do this and contour acess areas because that knife , awesome as it is , is blocky and needed that sharp edge rounded by the lockbar
Just got my blue qubit in today. And I gotta say it is one of the most well done feeling, looking knife I have handled!! Now I'm about 2 years into the knife game and only own maybe 15 knives. But its incredible for an EDC pocket knife! I have a Protech malibu and this up there with it if not better. The button is better. So smooth, no stick whatsoever. Only complaint is mine doesn't have a sharp edge. Easy fix tho. It's so clean and good I don't want to scratch or beat up! 😆 If they make one with a 3.5 inch blade and maybe some texture to the aluminum handles its perfect in my book!
reversible clip gripe, all knives. the clipples side is left with a big unfinished HOLE. at least add a screw to fill the empty hole. better yet a small piece that fits the cut out with one screw.
I bought the Conspirator in S35v and another in nitro-V, but thinking about buying this one for the bottle opener. I really like the size and better steel and micarta on the conspirator though. Maybe I should wait for another variation of the qubit? edit: I think 14c28n is better than nitro-v, the nitro-v rolls a bit easy, but I don't have anything in 14c28n yet. Also just ordered a qubit for my Dad for fathers day.
My favorite Civivi is Baby Banter. The very fact it's designed by Ben Peterson is enough to make it awesome, but you receive a really pretty - no, scratch that! - really CUTE knife made of a great steel, and offering incredible utility for its seemingly unimpressive size. It is by far the best knife to hold in the off hand due to how the finger choil and pocket clip's bend line up. I made it a centerpiece of my minimalist hip bag carry a.k.a. "How To Explain People Why EDC Is Cool" Kit (also containing, among other things, the small Civibi pry keychain, Knipex Cobra XS and Fenix T6 penlight). Other Civivis I'd love to get are: Qubit, Vision FG, Chevalier and Bhaltair, in that order.
I can't really pick a favorite CIVIVI. Maybe of the 20 or so I own the Baby Banter had the most carry because it is shockingly bigger in hand than would seem possible for a knife its size 😮 I have a literal list of at least 80% of every model they've made that I want, and if I had the money I'd already own them. The problem is that every time I look there is a new model released by them, and I simply cannot keep up. Now there are 2 more on my list 😅
Would it be possible be possible to swap the “scales” on this knife? Or is the aluminum all one piece? Smooth metal handles just suck in the cold and/wet. If I knew I could swap on some textured non-metal scales I’d buy instantly. Other wise the knife is my perfect knife.
Beautiful beautiful Knife, it’s just I don’t like the aluminum with the anodized. I have the. CRKT number eight switchblade with aluminum handles with anodized. It’s such a premium feeling knife. It’s just on the hard corners and the hard edges. It always wears out. That’s sucks.
hey im completely new to knifes and just got this knife as a gift as was confused as to how he was deploying the blade so quickly. it looks like sometimes he is using his thumb and sometimes not. could someone explain it to me and how to properly deploy?
I totally missed this when picking up the conspirator, I picked the conspirator over the others due to interest in nitro-v steel. But can't go wrong with S35VN. Kinda bummed I missed this now, but I'm not getting a second one.
I have both these knives in these same colors. And they are both VERY nice, smooth, solid knives. They WOULD be perfect, IMO if they had back-flipper studs, but other than that, they are pretty nice knives at GREAT prices. I really like the Altus, and the Cubit IS a very nice small knife, but for the life of me, I just can't figure out what all the hype is about. The Civivi Cachet, IMO, is a FANTASTIC knife, and although it's not a button lock, it is silky smooth, has a large, comfortable handle, a 3.48 inch 14C28N Stainless blade, the action feels and SOUNDS great, and is solid as a rock. If Civivi made a version of the Cachet that was also a button lock, it would be a game-changer...
If you like the Altus and Qubit you should check out the Sencut Serene, aluminium, button lock, D2 steel, and dual deployment (flipper tab and thumbstuds) great blade geometry for $45. To answer the question in your title " Yes, yes it is" Qubit is an amazing slicer. Currently the Baby banter in S35vn is my favorite but the Qubit gets used more often.
Civivi is my folding knife brand; I have quite a few of them. I love them. So it hurts me to say that I feel let down by their pocket clips. They are too damn malleable and its impossible to bend them back into shape after they’ve been bent out of shape.
I prefer a flipper tab and like it with a button lock. The reason is, at no point will a finger be in the path of a moving edge. I don't trust my dexterity for a flick with a thumb stud or a "spydy hole." Note: I am not obversed to a liner lock, or a frame lock, because I like the idea of one hand operation. I just tend to slowly open with my thumb on the thumb stud.
Boy, I'm glad we don't all have the same taste: I love the design on the Nox, but hate the elementum and banter (they are just plain ugly for me). I think your criticism of the smooth handled aluminum is spot on and not even brand specific as apparently aluminum scales are all the rage now. I love the look of the Sokoke and am a fan of many of Ray Laconico's designs, but can't stand that burlap micarta used on it (I'd have to buy it with some other scale material); Kizer's micarta is far superior. Also, that blackwash look on the qubit is the way to go (I got the sinisys in that finish to avoid getting the sandblast appearance on their "stonewashed" blades).
I hope they make this in something other than aluminum. Everything looks great except for that, without even any texturing. G10 would be good, micarta better. is aluminum more cost effective than G10 or micarta?
I am one of the 8 or 9 people in the world that weren’t (wasn’t?) impressed with the Elementum (possibly because it wasn’t lefty friendly). On the other hand, I was so impressed with the Altus that I bought two, and upgraded both with Ti pocket clips. My ONLY petty criticism of the Altus is the handle width - and it looks like the Qubit addresses that. Nevertheless, I’m very interested in an Al-handled Altus.
I like the design (specially the blade shapes) on many Civivi models and these two (specially the smaller qubit) are no exception. I will not buy at this price though. If I can get a good sale, I may. Right now I have an amazing slicer in the Spyderco Chaparral (granted I bought at a decent price: 85$) which beats this knife in most all elements except for price and deployment speed. I am not a figdet type of knife user so that is a meaningless measure for me (I look for that aspect only in my self-defense knives, but there I also look for other features). Civivi's prices have jumped and where they use to be, is where now Sencut prices are (and even a bit higher). Not a fan of smooth metal scales having a few knives with this feature and am not sure whey they don't do a grippier frag pattern (or whatever other patterns that can be found on the GOAT metal scales for the Hogue Deka). There are quite a few other companies that match (or surpass) Civivi in almost all of these aspects except, for me, the design (esp blade shape). Thanks for the review. Always interested in what you have to say.
I still think the Sokoke is the best civivi yet. The Qubit is incredible but knives with significant differences in the handle to blade length ratio bothers me.
It looks cool, but if that is the best Civivi has to offer and the Sencut serene is functionally better... Civivi hasn't been as amazing as people claim. For the money they need to up their game more.
I quite like my cogent from them. Wish it had a couple different features but overall, I don’t think there’s a better button lock flipper. Maybe you know of one I don’t?
This or the mini nightshade ? CF mns would be cool but they sold out quick . Saw you cutting paper with that milwaukee . You ll get ‘em next year . A praxis works good
Not a fan of 14C28N. It DOES NOT hold an edge “like crazy”. In fact, it won’t make it through a couple hours of hard use. It does make a great low priced figit toy.
Nobody ain't talking about the bottle opener that knife also has on it
For real! They barely even mention it
Just got mine green with Damascus blade. I'm in love

I just got the Qubit and I love it.
I'm wanting to get one of the brass handled civivi's for a very specific edc build I'm doing, have you tried any of those and did you like them?
I dig the purpoe one. Just becauae of the color. Also the blade is 👌🏻👌🏻would definitely order it.
Dude, we need more fixed blade content….PLEEEEEZZEEE!
After bladeshow 100%
@@maxlvledc cool beans!
Civivi is my folding knife brand; I have quite a few of them. I love them. So it hurts me to say that I feel let down by their pocket clips. They are too damn malleable and its impossible to bend them back into shape after they’ve been bent out of shape.
Your not wrong..have you tried the ti clips?
@@maxlvledc I’d love to try them out but I don’t know what they are. What does ti stand for?
@@bombfog1 Titanium, amzn.to/3NXhRY8
Elementum my favorite edc pocket knife 😄
Have you tried the button lock?
@@maxlvledc no but it looks good
I prefer a flipper tab and like it with a button lock. The reason is, at no point will a finger be in the path of a moving edge. I don't trust my dexterity for a flick with a thumb stud or a "spydy hole."
Note: I am not obversed to a liner lock, or a frame lock, because I like the idea of one hand operation. I just tend to slowly open with my thumb on the thumb stud.
The Ortis, no doubt about it, I wanted to hate that knife so bad, but it just might be the perfect EDC knife honestly
The Instagram guy "transparent knives" hit the spine while locked and it failed
Heard that..I think I need to do a full test of all button locks.
A Titanium with carbon fiber like the Ziffius would rock.
Nope, it's more expensive
I am one of the 8 or 9 people in the world that weren’t (wasn’t?) impressed with the Elementum (possibly because it wasn’t lefty friendly). On the other hand, I was so impressed with the Altus that I bought two, and upgraded both with Ti pocket clips. My ONLY petty criticism of the Altus is the handle width - and it looks like the Qubit addresses that. Nevertheless, I’m very interested in an Al-handled Altus.
I HATE the elementum..but liked the elementum 2 funny enough lols.
My altus has a weak detent. I know its not a detent but you kow what I mean?
yea, I got a good one. My detent is on the easy size of perfect.
You had me at bottle opener
I want the titanium WE version
Where can i buy it
Amazon has them
Yeah if it was only 3.75 in Long..... The blade I'm talking about. Or possibly 4 inches. That would be great!
I still think the Sokoke is the best civivi yet. The Qubit is incredible but knives with significant differences in the handle to blade length ratio bothers me.
i3E EOS is an excellent little light.
Conspiritor...trust..
i’m only scared of the handle
I like my Qubit even more than my Atom 😮😮😮
This or the mini nightshade ? CF mns would be cool but they sold out quick . Saw you cutting paper with that milwaukee . You ll get ‘em next year . A praxis works good
All "budget" cutting tool are best cutting tool.
I like the intro
I can’t every day carry these as they are illegal to everyday carry in my country
Why don’t you mention that stupid missing section of blade called a bottle opener?
Well don’t use the knife when your hands are wet!
Not a fan of 14C28N. It DOES NOT hold an edge “like crazy”. In fact, it won’t make it through a couple hours of hard use. It does make a great low priced figit toy.
slippery scale???? easy fix, thats why GOD made pant legs:):)
I never want to see thumbstuds on a knife when flippers exist.
I'm the opposite..I hate flippers
