I'm so happy that Memphis won Best Musical! It's one of my favorite Broadway shows! I've seen it twice, and I'm going back two more times. It is AMAZING!!! The cast is fantastic, especially Montego Glover! Everyone has to see Memphis if they are going to New York City! HOCKADOO!!!
Our daughter got us tickets for this AMAZING SHOW, goes from gospel, RnB, to Rock n Roll, full of ENERGY, DANCING, SINGING, and of course a passionate story to go with it.
Memphis is one of my favorite musicals ever! The music, cast, dancing and resonance combine to tell a sensational story of the birth of rock n roll and how love can conquer adversity and prejudice.
the drama club at my school actually met a couple of the actors in this musical and they taught us part of the choreography of this song and lyrics to go with it It was soooo much fun!!!!
I love this so much because this is our song for my show choir and when we went on tour to the east coast, we saw took a broadway work shop and learned the choreography from 3:49 and then saw the show about 2 hours after the class. I loved all of it and this song just brings back so many fond memories of tour and show choir. It nearly makes me cry. :) I love Memphis
This show was so amazing in NY. I saw it and it was still in previews (it had been for like 6 weeks) and really chose it at random at TKTS. It is a fantastic- let me say it again- FANTASTIC show. This show is broadway. It is professional theatre. It is what you would expect a broadway show to be. The music is amazing- sure its not pop- maybe some of it is repetitive- but the energy, the acting, the sets, costumes, lighting, sound and projections are perfect...YOU MUST SEE THIS SHOW!!!!
Watching this way too many times. Finding myself loving small things like the way Montego's turn matches the camera movement at 1:48, and of course Mr Green Shirt's guy's lovely arms.
I saw this on Sunday. This musical was the first one to make me cry before the end of the 2nd Act. It has a powerful message of race, and I'm really happy I got to see it.
The guy doing the flip at 3:05 in the striped shirt is a guy I know named Paul McGill who I go to the same high school as. And he went to Pittsburgh Musical Theater while in high school, and so do I :)
LOVE MEMPHIS! And great job to Chad.. He had to deal with the suckish microphone during this number. His voice is really powerful, he pulled it off! :)
I saw this show with Adam Pascal and Montego Glover playing the leads and they were both extraordinary. It was fantastic. Maybe if it went up against Book of Mormon or Spring Awakening, it'd have lost, but you could say that with any other musical. Put all the ones you listed in the same year, it'd have been impossible to choose a winner
The funniest part isn't that Mark Sanchez was at the Tony Awards, it's that CBS and/or the Theatre Wing probably thought that some people would watch it because he was there that wouldn't otherwise! LOL But the number was really good! Memphis has really grown on me the last few years.
@kmb1023x it was really fun and they were soo nice i met Hillary Elk and Preston W. Dugger III and this guy Stan who is there vocal coach. We unfortunately couldn't get tickets to the show even though we were suppose to go see it so we saw Wonderland instead which had a cast memeber we met last year from in the heights which was cool
*sigh* They are coming to where I live a few weeks after I move and are coming within a few hours of where I'm moving to right before I get there. I can't win.
@973raypaul Woah, I don't know which musical you're looking at but this was a great performance. The verdict is on for who would win with the other musicals you listed but two years in a row of "weak" nominees? I don't think so.
I saw Memphis last month, absolutely incredible!!!!! One of the most amazing musicals i've ever seen! One thing I do notice though, is that American Idiots Tony performance seemed to have much more energy, although that's just the nature of the show. American Idiot can't compare to this show!
@steph1019 OMG u are soo lucky!! who did u meet?? i met all of them briefly at the stage door after the show but not on such a personal level as that!!
I love this show, and I love Chad Kimball. He’s come a long way personally and professionally but can someone PLEASE have a one-on-one about his pointing all over the damn place? It was a problem at the Gander come from away, and it’s distracting AF.
@kevinludenaa over the last few years the tonys have yet to have a perfect mic'ed show.. they always mess up at least one song one year the worst ive seen is when the cast of guys and dolls performed and they had to run in a mic during the performance
I've seen all the Tony nominated shows for best musical this year except fela! American Idiot has been the best. It's a great, innovative show. The Tonys have got it right for the last 9 years except for Memphis. Great musical, but AI was better.
(SPOILER FREE I PROMISE) Can I just say how misleading this was about the ending of the show? I was all sad during "Memphis lives in me" and my mind was trying to predict how it got from there to here. Loved the show, but I totally thought it would end differently since I'd seen this performance before seeing the show.
JAMES MONROE IGLEHART HAD MORE ENERGY THAN EVERYONE ELSE ON THAT STAGE OMG SLAY ME GENIE
Slay me Lance Strongbow
How was this not even nominated for best choreography?
I'm so happy that Memphis won Best Musical! It's one of my favorite Broadway shows! I've seen it twice, and I'm going back two more times. It is AMAZING!!! The cast is fantastic, especially Montego Glover! Everyone has to see Memphis if they are going to New York City! HOCKADOO!!!

+kacenoroyal IKR! Memphis is such a great show to hit Broadway.
kacenoroyal This totally deserve the award of Best Musical because holy crap that was awesome!!!
@@chazofalsa right!
Memphis is one of my favorite musicals ever! The music, cast, dancing and resonance combine to tell a sensational story of the birth of rock n roll and how love can conquer adversity and prejudice.
I adore James Monroe Igleheart, he's amazing in whatever he does.
I love him as Booby and voicing Lance in Tangled the Series
Their energy and true love for what they are doing is palpable! This is amazing:)
Huey should have said, "The name's Huey Calhoun! Goodnight and HOCKADOO!"
That show was amazing & Chad Kimball is FANTASTIC
Chad Kimball is so fantastic, and a down to earth guy too. He came to Illinois's High School Theatre Fest!
Wow this comment didn't age so well! :-/
James Monroe iglehart is one of the most talent Broadway actors ever and such a brillant person at stage door gave me the best experience ever xx
I'm so jealous of those who saw him as the Genie in Aladdin
This was a GREAT show! My hubs, who's not into theater, smiled all night! He loved it ❤
Say a Prayer had the entire audience bawling! Right before intermission :( it was phenomenal
COME ON JAMES MONROE IGLEHART! COME ON NOW! GET IT!
the drama club at my school actually met a couple of the actors in this musical and they taught us part of the choreography of this song and lyrics to go with it
It was soooo much fun!!!!

Best Musical Ever! I Was there last Friday and i really enjoy it from the beginning t the end, the cast and the music are FANTASTICO.
The dancing is just amazing!
I was so excited when they won! Loved this show!!
I LOVED THIS MUSICAL! I want to see it over and over and over!
This was... I think the first Broadway show I EVER saw.
I hope the choreographer was nominated for the Tony that night.
Sadly he wasn't
James Monroe Iglehart is so fleet footed for his size his energy is so infectious
I’ve been a fan of him since this show. I’ve also seen him in Disenchanted and voicing Lance on Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure
Just saw this show a few days ago with my grandma. We didn't really know what to expect but it was amazing. The music is just...bah. I can't even say.
i LOVE memphis!!!! so happy they won best musical they deserved it!
I saw this musical before the tony awards really glad i got to see it!
This is such an AMAZING SHOW! It's my absolute favorite & I couldn't be more ecstatic that it won the Tony:D it truly, truly deserved it.

I could watch Charlie Williams dance 24/7 (white boy, blue jeans, green shirt)
Speaking of one of the dancers, Eprehaim Sykes who is currently seen in the ensemble of Hamilton is playing Seaweed in NBC's Hairspray LIVE.
I need to see this. I wanted to go the night it opened so badly :( CONGRATULATIONS DAVID ON 4 WELL DESERVED TONY AWARDS!!!!!!!
What can I say...simply incredible!!!
Watching this way too many times. Finding myself loving small things like the way Montego's turn matches the camera movement at 1:48, and of course Mr Green Shirt's guy's lovely arms.
@Deenos I will! I fell in love with Memphis watching the Tony's!
PERFECTION!!! So deserved the TONY!!!
I saw this on Sunday. This musical was the first one to make me cry before the end of the 2nd Act. It has a powerful message of race, and I'm really happy I got to see it.
I love this just by the sound and look! I'll se it when to comes to L.A.
never heard of this
I'll have to listen to the full soundtrack
butt form what I can hear, I'm impressed
Excellent performance and chirography :]
Chad looked so baby faced in this! Can't believe this was almost ten years ago!
Going on 15 years now lol.
I saw this show with Adam Pascal and Montego Glover playing the leads and they were both extraordinary. It was fantastic. Maybe if it went up against Book of Mormon or Spring Awakening, it'd have lost, but you could say that with any other musical. Put all the ones you listed in the same year, it'd have been impossible to choose a winner
the choreo is amazingg
Why is the video of Chad singing" Memphis " no longer avalible???? It's my favorite...
Great show! Loved it!
The funniest part isn't that Mark Sanchez was at the Tony Awards, it's that CBS and/or the Theatre Wing probably thought that some people would watch it because he was there that wouldn't otherwise! LOL
But the number was really good! Memphis has really grown on me the last few years.

Chad Kimbell is absolutely amazing in this role. He deserves the world 🥰
@iluvlittleshop921 That's actually from "Crazy Little Huey" AND "Radio".

Love this!!!
This is the best!!!!!
reminds me of hairspray

MY BOI JAMES MONROE KILLIN IT AS USUAL
Montego is amazing!
@shezbo he was on the tonys last night, hes in the ensemble of 'how to succeed...'
*sigh* They are coming to where I live a few weeks after I move and are coming within a few hours of where I'm moving to right before I get there. I can't win.
@2dark2die Yes it did. Imagine that. An original musical with original music winning.
@973raypaul Woah, I don't know which musical you're looking at but this was a great performance. The verdict is on for who would win with the other musicals you listed but two years in a row of "weak" nominees? I don't think so.
BRAVO MEMPHIS!!!
EXACTLY!!!
I saw Memphis last month, absolutely incredible!!!!! One of the most amazing musicals i've ever seen! One thing I do notice though, is that American Idiots Tony performance seemed to have much more energy, although that's just the nature of the show. American Idiot can't compare to this show!
love the number, but what the hell is with Chad’s pointing? He does the same damn thing with the Come from Away Gander concert. What’s the point?
@steph1019 OMG u are soo lucky!! who did u meet?? i met all of them briefly at the stage door after the show but not on such a personal level as that!!
listen to the beat
Isn't 2:47 to 3:28 originally from "Radio" or is it from this song?
@ernesthroop Nope it's called Steal Your Rock N Roll
that guys a funny mix of dominic mcmonaghan and jude law :D
is it me or was his mic to low near the beginning?
I noticed that too..lol
@werejilla What would you classify "Rent" as?? (I'm curious.)
@shezbo wats the name of the guy in the green shirt?
who are the two black guys at 2:43
The one on the right is Ephraim Sykes.
He's going to be Seaweed in NBC's Hairspray LIVE
Montego Glover is gorgeous!!
I love this show, and I love Chad Kimball. He’s come a long way personally and professionally but can someone PLEASE have a one-on-one about his pointing all over the damn place? It was a problem at the Gander come from away, and it’s distracting AF.
@DaveBryansGirl0415 I know!!! Just like Jersey Boys and Crazy for You!!! No, wait. They actually won the Tony for best musical!
YAY MEMPHIS!! :DDD
what's the name of this song???? listen to the beat???
It’s called Steal Your Rock and Roll.
@DaveBryansGirl0415 Wow.. I guess it must have been one hell of a musical then? ..or maybe it was just a typo..
@SJRGreenKnights2011 Or they just couldn't hear the beat! :)
@888tho Book Of Mormon is INCredible, and So is Memphis, just 2 very different shows, Memphis is a much deepe show but Book Of Mormon is Halarious
mark sanchez is gorgeous
AGREED!!!!
well our rock n roll just got stolen, the show is gonna close in august.
@SferrazzaProductions It's not that hard to learn that dance...it's a pretty simple dance. i'm sure you can learn it no problem.
I love chad kimbell who plays hewy
Checking in. Do you still love him or are you heartbroken?
@thestar13 true!
@merbethmango Good choice :D!!!
They sound great ....they have really sucky mics tho...step up tony awardz geez
@kevinludenaa over the last few years the tonys have yet to have a perfect mic'ed show.. they always mess up at least one song one year the worst ive seen is when the cast of guys and dolls performed and they had to run in a mic during the performance
@matt13r1 Because Memphis, as a whole, is a fantastic show. American Idiot is, sadly, more like a Green Day cover concert than anything else.
It's sad they got to give there title to Book of Mormon. They deserve 100 Tony's cause they are soo good!!
The best leads for this would have been Killian Donelly and Montego Glover.
I've seen all the Tony nominated shows for best musical this year except fela! American Idiot has been the best. It's a great, innovative show. The Tonys have got it right for the last 9 years except for Memphis. Great musical, but AI was better.
@bobobbyo546 Charlie Williams! Google 'i am charlie williams'
@shezbo thats charlie williams. i just met him this weekend, and he is unbelievably hot. google him and look at his pictures *drool*
@dragonp86 I would have to disagree with on ur opinion because I think that if u saw American Idiot u would think that it was good
what happened?? my rock and roll was stolen! ;)
