- Most Beautiful Christmas Markets in France 2023 🇫🇷 | Strasbourg | Colmar | Eguisheim. Some of the best christmas markets in Europe are in France and namely the Strasbourg Christmas Market. Strasbourg’s Christmas market is the oldest one in France and one of the oldest in Europe.During the Christmas market, the ambiance in Strasbourg is truly unique. The facades and streets are beautifully decorated, the shop windows sparkle, the smells of cinnamon and spices waft through the air, bringing back childhood memories, and Christmas carols ring out from churches.Throughout December, Strasbourg is one of the most illuminated cities in Europe. Dont forget to check Eguisheim, Colmar and RIbeauville!

This video took me back to my childhood. When I would watch Christmas movies and wish I was in the towns shown in them. Never imagined they actually existed. One way or another. i must experience this in person sometime during my life. Strasbourg in particular is breathtaking.
I feel moving when I watched this. Hope we all have happiness and peace in each corner of the world.

Hallmark movie, really? Christmas markets have a long traditions over centuries in Central Europe and locals spend efforts to keep traditions alive, plus improve the decorations. For those people it must feel weird when someone is suggesting, they copied an American movie.

Really hard to pick the one and only. I was recommended to visit Strasbourg before Colmar, to get first impressions of the "French style" of Christmas after German one.
i am afraid this is not french style 's christmas... just alsace 's tradition ..i wish this was all over france ....most of christmas market are just commercial and sad
I agree with E. If watched globally, the Alsacian tradition of christmas markets or those of neigboring German markets have the same root and are rather similar than different. Colmar is smaller, cosier and the decorations are just a bit more pretty - yet the single vendors are sometimes repeated in the varios towns.
This means that for example in Paris there is no market?
@@GermanTravelBlog there are pretty Christmas decorations and a few stalls infront of the townhall, as far as I've seen.
There used to be a Christmas market in La Defense, which felt lost among shyscrapers on a windy plaza.

Alsace and southern Germany are the birth place of Christmas and the Christmas tree tradition and the cookies, the hot wine and all the other typically Alsatian stuff they make during the holidays you won’t find in Paris.

You forgot Mulhouse. There is the most beautiful christmas market in Mulhouse (Alsace)
Mulhouse's market is okay and rather small, but not as elaborate as Colmar or Strasbourg. Though they have concept to play the same music throughout the entire old town, which I found nice.
