Thanks for sharing about the SD yarn crawl. I live in OC and I have always wanted to to the alpaca farm!
A suggestion for your sofie scarf, rip back to a few rows past were you ran out of speckle yarn, then knit one row w the solid and one w the speckle and you won't notice the change at all.
BAAH yarn is my all time fav! Mira has amazing taste in color, a true artist.
    Love your podcast!

For the shawl, what you could do is go back a bit into the original yarn and hold the original yarn double for the end with another fingering weight. Then it would be more marled

So excited you finally got to experience alpacas live and in person! Going to the yarn farm by my house is my single favorite thing and I can't wait to go back in November and see all the babies that were born this summer. I think it's cute they tell you the names of the alpaca your yarn came from!

Good morning! Loved your vlog on the yarn crawl, i'm knitting on my socks while you entertained me this morning. I learned something new from you today. There are different varieties of Alpaca (from the camelid line of animals) that have different yarn properties. Yarn is so interesting and a fiber that enhances our lives unlike any synthetic! I have used alpaca blend yarn in a few garments and really enjoyed the softness it adds. Loved your neutral color choices as you can't go wrong knitting in a neutral especially if you would like to do some colorwork with them. Also you can see the stitch definition better than with a dark color. I hope you will video the yarn shops you visit in Ireland. I've been there twice, I love Ireland. They are so welcoming to American tourists. A real vacation pleasure. Their stellar knitting set the bar for the rest of us!!!!!!! Have a great trip if you don't vlog b4 you depart. Warm knitting regards, Carrie from the N. San Francisco Bay Area. 😘❤🦙🐑☕✈🧵🪡🧶

I like the different color on the Sophie! it gives it extra interest and a little bit of charm. You could always add some bobbles or edging or whatever in the second color to balance it out but you really don’t need it. Loved your show and everything you presented!

Might jussssst be time for me to cast on a Sophie shawl! I have three Sophie scarves but the shawl looks lovely. I thought I might have some Taffy I could send you but when I checked, the Hedgehog colours I have are Monarch and Naive. Similar but not similar enough I think. I had a quick look on Ravelry to see if anyone had any Taffy for sale and nobody does BUT there is someone who used 79g in an inclinations shawl so they might be persuadable to let you buy a bit. She’s called knitbrina and she has THE most adorable story about how she learned to knit on her homepage, that shows how much she values the kindness of strangers. If I were you, I would drop her a DM and cross my fingers. Going back and finessing FOs is a great idea. Anna Passey-Trevino is on her second year of doing this in the Fall. It’s so satisfying and inspiring to watch. Thanks for another great episode. I love your podcast ❤

I loved the yarn crawl this year! I got some luscious Apple Fiber Studio fingering at Needle Craft Cottage, some Red Stag Fibre sock in a beautiful blue/brown/gray colorway snd some La Jolla superwash at Apricot Yarn. You are right, they are so nice there! Got a yarn bowl at Yarn & Thread expressions, and some hand dyed alpaca dk in forest green at A Simpler Time Alpaca Farm. They had a cool tour of their fiber processing equipment. We went to Alpaca and Friends too, but I didn’t buy anything there. We just sat snd enjoyed the gardens. I skipped Emy’s this year, but I’m working on Ozetta’s Harvest Tee with Malabrigo yarn from last year’s crawl that I got there. Thanks for sharing your yarn crawl experience! BTW, I like the color change on your shawl. It reminds me of the deliberate mistake that Navajo weavers work into their rugs and blankets to honor the gods.

It sounds like you had an amazing time on the yarn crawl this year! I did the mill tour at A Simpler Time last year and loved it!

Hi!!! Joining a little late to comment this hahahaha but I am doing the Sophie Shawl too, and have been questioning myself on how far should I go.. but I LOVE yours... what's your width at the center??
    Thank you!!!

Mine is about 14" in the center! I had three skeins of fingering weight yarn, held them double for a DK weight and just went until I thought it was about halfway!

Maybe it doesn't have to end in a point? Bind off where you ran out of yarn. If it bothers you, change the other end to match it too!
Not that it is very visible. But if i were you, i would be constantly checking to see if the wrong yarn end shows. And that would be annoying to do.
