Bro RX 6600 beats 12gb 3060 in most cases even at 128-bit due to hell huge amd cache. Although if you do not game and render using gpu then AMD drivers will be bit slower. But in all games it’s atleast 10% faster than 3060 12gb

Why would anyone ever go with a lower Vram card? Newer games always use more ram. Besides never know when Crypto will make a comeback and you won’t be able to buy a GPU for another 4-5 year period.

@@Kiporino If you're going to make variant of a card with less VRAM it shouldn't have this much performance loss in games that don't even utilize the 8gb of VRAM in the first place. The 1060 3gb is a good example as its on par with the 6gb variant with the games that have low VRAM usage.
It’s a combination of 33% less vram, 50% less bus width 33% less cache that makes the difference more than it should be. The gap between the 3060 8gb and 12gb is about the same as the 3060 12gb vs the 4060.

Nvidia being Nvidia, nothing surprising. I didn't expect that much of a difference considering RX 6600 XT also has 128 bit memory bus and launched at a scummy price but at least now it's reasonable. RTX 3060 isn't even good value and now they've set the bar lower.

Although some reviewers have highlighted how the ""gimped"" 8GB ((that has 50% less Memorry bandwidth) is loosing out to the original RTX3060 I'm affraid it will be overlooked. RTX 3050 should have been a Ti since Launch with 6gb of GDDR6 and a 192bit bus. The original 3060 should have been what they called the 3060 Ti with 8gb GDDR6 on a 256bit bus. The original 3080 should have been the original 3070 with 10gb of GDDR6X and a 320bit bus. The 3080 12gb should have been the actual 3080 with 12gb GDDR6X on a 384bit bus. The original 3090 should have been the actual 3080 Ti with 16gb GDDR6X on a 384bit bus. The 3090 Ti should have been the Titan Ampere with 24gb GDDR6X on a 384bit bus. The 3090 should have never existed, it disrupted the whole high end GPU market at 1500$. The 3080 Ti should have been the flagship at 899$.
Good to see how much memory each games demands, compared to what they can utilise. In MSFS the 12GB card only demands about 6GB, but the 8GB card is only using about 5.7GB. Would be good to compare two cards with the exact same spec apart from VRAM.

@@rambleroodle2369 I've been using AMD up until just recently when I got a great deal on a 2070 Super. Had ONE pain in the ass driver problem in 9 years of using AMD. Had to use DDU a couple times and fixed it and no issues after. I can tell you just in the past year, I DID have a couple minor issues with Nvidia drivers. Not as bad as that one issue on AMD, but even that was in like 2016. In my experience, AMD software issues are overblown, even if they are a little more common.

It’s not just 10fps, newer games always need more ram, 4gb more ram will make a difference if you don’t upgrade your GPU every year. Or just get 16gb AMD graphics card. Buying under 12gb is just going to cause trouble in the future. If you run out of Vram you get single digit FPS.

I'm so glad I bought an AMD rx 6600, the Asus version. I mean for 100 bucks less, better efficiency, runs cool what else could you ask for. I even paired it with my Intel 12400... you just have to use DDU for a clean install. Now my pc is running great and my games also runs smooth at high/ultra setting with high frames rates. My gpu search is over, for now. 😂

This is 1080p. I got one of these in exchange for a faulty 3060 12GB and it's even worse at 1440p. Can't even run WoW: Dragonflight on graphics preset 5/10 without dipping to 40 FPS. It's going straight back.

@@bogdangg1 the problem is in my country the 3060 8gb cost 384$ and the 3060 12gb cost 531$. The price is so high for such a little different, causing the costumer buy the cheaper one to sell it faster. So annoying but I’ve got no choice at this point. I don’t know how to build a pc on my own. But I’ll definitely upgrade in the future if Nvidia comes up with good gpus and not costumer scams gpus.

Sadly it's not, it would be much better to go for the AMD RX 6700 XT for that money, or if you really want a Nvidia card (if you need CUDA for work) buy a 3060ti instead. I see a 6700XT for €439.00 in amazon's German site. It's really worth doing some research on these cards, Hardware Unboxed is a good youtube channel to look at.

Nvidia being Nvidia, nothing surprising. I didn't expect that much of a difference considering RX 6600 XT also has 128 bit memory bus and launched at a scummy price but at least now it's reasonable. RTX 3060 isn't even good value and now they've set the bar lower.
Funny how 3060 has the price close to 6700xt, and 6700xt demolishes 3060 in every performance tests, hell it even beats 3070 in some recent games. But even that nvidia don't care since they have the most marketplace, thus 3060 8gb is still gonna be bought and used by more people 🤡🤡

Could the higher connection (196 bit instead of 128 bit) be the reason for the higher performance? Because some of the games didn't have to use the memory at all.

3060 130 watt laptop is almost similar to 3060 12GB desktop. It is 95% of the performance of 3060 12GB. But the laptop version is lacks of VRAM.

Although some reviewers have highlighted how the ""gimped"" 8GB ((that has 50% less Memorry bandwidth) is loosing out to the original RTX3060 I'm affraid it will be overlooked. RTX 3050 should have been a Ti since Launch with 6gb of GDDR6 and a 192bit bus. The original 3060 should have been what they called the 3060 Ti with 8gb GDDR6 on a 256bit bus. The original 3080 should have been the original 3070 with 10gb of GDDR6X and a 320bit bus. The 3080 12gb should have been the actual 3080 with 12gb GDDR6X on a 384bit bus. The original 3090 should have been the actual 3080 Ti with 16gb GDDR6X on a 384bit bus. The 3090 Ti should have been the Titan Ampere with 24gb GDDR6X on a 384bit bus. The 3090 should have never existed, it disrupted the whole high end GPU market at 1500$. The 3080 Ti should have been the flagship at 899$.

Good to see how much memory each games demands, compared to what they can utilise. In MSFS the 12GB card only demands about 6GB, but the 8GB card is only using about 5.7GB. Would be good to compare two cards with the exact same spec apart from VRAM.

The performance gap is greater then of between RTX 3060 ti & RTX 3070 and between RTX 3070 & RTX 3070 ti.
between RTX 3060 12GB and RTX 3060 8GB is about 17 gap and RTX 3070 & RTX 3070 ti is only 7%

@@rambleroodle2369 I've been using AMD up until just recently when I got a great deal on a 2070 Super. Had ONE pain in the ass driver problem in 9 years of using AMD. Had to use DDU a couple times and fixed it and no issues after. I can tell you just in the past year, I DID have a couple minor issues with Nvidia drivers. Not as bad as that one issue on AMD, but even that was in like 2016. In my experience, AMD software issues are overblown, even if they are a little more common.

It’s not just 10fps, newer games always need more ram, 4gb more ram will make a difference if you don’t upgrade your GPU every year. Or just get 16gb AMD graphics card. Buying under 12gb is just going to cause trouble in the future. If you run out of Vram you get single digit FPS.

I'm so glad I bought an AMD rx 6600, the Asus version. I mean for 100 bucks less, better efficiency, runs cool what else could you ask for. I even paired it with my Intel 12400... you just have to use DDU for a clean install. Now my pc is running great and my games also runs smooth at high/ultra setting with high frames rates. My gpu search is over, for now. 😂

This is 1080p. I got one of these in exchange for a faulty 3060 12GB and it's even worse at 1440p. Can't even run WoW: Dragonflight on graphics preset 5/10 without dipping to 40 FPS. It's going straight back.
Yeah buying the 3060 8gb with 128 bit bus speed is a crime. Pay a little more and enjoy a 12gb 192 bit bus speed card without worrying about not having enough vram.

The price is so high for such a little different, causing the costumer buy the cheaper one to sell it faster. So annoying but I’ve got no choice at this point. I don’t know how to build a pc on my own. But I’ll definitely upgrade in the future if Nvidia comes up with good gpus and not costumer scams gpus.
