- Denver's Mayor Mike Johnston announced Sunday the city succeeded in under six months moving more than 1,000 people experiencing homelessness off the streets and into housing. It comes at the same time as the city opening its first micro-community site.

That's awesome. Well done, Denver. The rest of the world needs to watch, learn, and act. It's time for homelessness to end. Sydney Australia Mayor, I hope you're watching this instead of relaxing in your multi-million dollar home, sigh.

@@majorchutzpah7265no it certainly isn’t. Makes me laugh when I see someone that thinks “oh just put a roof over them and problem solved” and the best part, higher taxes. This is wrong for everyone
It is a complex problem and @majorchutzpah7265 and @Cmon-Man are naysayers. The homeless have been living in tents if they are lucky with less upright space than these cute units. Most importantly they will be an escape from the elements where life can begin again. California and all the liberal lobbyist wanted money to flow to their expensive projects that are never completed and are all fantasy. Homes....? Those are sheds ! They've been doing these in Oakland for years now , only to find out they don't like them , too many rules , the homeless have adapted to freedom !
Freedom means trashing everything everywhere they are.

Yes, lol
Waste of money. This will end very badly.

Yes, I would welcome these homes to be built in my back yard. These folks have been given bad luck and should be given very basic necessities to give them the dignity they deserve as much as we do.
They are a valuable addition to any community. They are willing to work hard to get "back on track".
As to the druggies and mental health issues. Small homes (or any other kind) will not solve their problems.
On the issue of "druggies and mental health problems", they will not be in these small homes.
I would not want to be within 50 miles of them. Think about this for a moment.
Housing is of no help. They need to be sheltered in a facility that can treat them. They can't be trusted to be "outpatients". They'd be back to their addiction in less then a day.
The best society can do for the "crazies" is lots of medication and community living, out of the general public.

This is a joke attempt to make himself look good while not housing anyone or doing anything about the actual problems. All our money goes to illegals.
I fled the hostility of a micro community for the safety of the streets. I am in the trenches. Every minute I see the damage of Johnston's decisions I see the ugliness the media does not report. Rape, prostitution, racism, assaults, gun violence, drugs, human trafficking, and property damage accompany this population. My determination for rehousing has been defamed by the city of Denver and Mike Johnston. As a member of his Housing and Homelessness Committee, Johnston thought I would be one of his "yes" people. Me and my gf are homeless and was in a tent now we're in a room but we keep it clean every morning before we leave for the day. We're the 1% of homeless that aren't bad people.
I feel the mayor's heart is in the right place. But I believe there will be severe unanticipated consequences. This move will attract more and more homeless and illegals to Denver and ultimately Colorado. Is there some form of public service required from the occupant in order to live in this community?

Illegal dems voters or Americans?
Nice. Now the homeless migrants will be able to fill the streets where the homeless Americans once were. I can't wait to hear how the shared laundry space works out.
Shared bathroom space will be worse. I couldn't imagine trudging through snow in the middle of the night for the bathroom.
Most just use the bathroom for number 2. I just pee in a bottle and dump it down my sink so I don't have to use the communal bathroom that often.
@@crimeariver6034 There aren't any sinks in the individual little houses.
The state has mandated a minimum of 3.5 cubic feet of space per citizen.
Is there a no drug using rule? If so many will not stay there. But for those who are homeless then I say well done, but it’s not the first of its kind.
I stay at one of the hotels they offered us and yes they still do drugs in the rooms 3 nights we all had to wait out in the cold cuz of them.
Awesome for sure! Hopefully, other cities adopt this as a blueprint to overcome their own homelessness crisis.
a private company tried to do this exact same thing in Las Vegas, and the city had them torn down which is so sad 😢
