I left Denver last year after 12 years there. It has been such a weight off my shoulders. No longer do I have to worry about my safety on a day to day basis. Get out while you still can. The rest of the country isn't nearly this bad.
I was in downtown Denver a couple of days ago while on my routes and there were encampments everywhere. Some took up the entire block. High end multi family structures throughout with large tent camps lining the streets beside them. Trash, tents, drugs and alcohol abuse everywhere. Very sad.

I'm starting to think about where is going to be the cheapest for me to retire too. That's another 8 years if I work until 70.

I went to a concert at Red Rocks a few months ago and we decided to go to Denver for lunch and drinks. We ate and got the hell put of there. The city was filthy, from the car to the restaurant we saw 2 guys pissing and 1 guy arguing with himself. The “normal” people were rude as hell. Must be a miserable place to be. I heard once that the reason big cities have homeless problems like this, is because the homeless themselves refuse to follow rules at shelters and recovery centers, and get kicked out a lot. Add to this any city that has decriminalized hard drugs, and you have an underbelly of double standards mixed up with people waaay too altered by said drugs to give permission or consent for treatment....the very same people college-aged "advocates" say we should hear the stories of and get to know. How about having a basic standard for human behavior first?

😢 I’m about to be homeless I worked my whole life and lost everything over night due to illness. I will not burden my children or friends and I have no family other then my children. Not all homeless are drug addicts or drinks a lot have mental issues and some are waiting SSI or SSDI eligibility and living in their cars.
I feel ya, been there. Best thing is to learn skills and invest what little you have into camping equipment and skills. If you can respond to a video, you have an ability to produce something others can pay for. Try to keep a vehicle or a storage unit so you can have a change of clothes and not look destitute as how we present ourselves matters. Look for the government programs that offer free internet, free phones, ect. Maybe use your homeless time to document exactly how others live, but don't stay in the city or the influence will drag you down. Stop paying medical bills, you can have them dismissed as part of declaring bankruptcy. Get ahead of this before depression swallows you whole.

Two things: 1) Vagrants should not be blocking the entrances to businesses, and 2) Vagrants should not be blocking wheelchair ramps. In fact, a number of unhoused people depend on wheelchairs to get around.
If they are in a wheelchair, they are disabled. If they are disabled they can get social security and section 8 housing. If they are unhoused, they are responsible for that choice.

We got out of Denver after seeing the writing on the wall back in 2017. We live in Parker for 5 years and left CO when it was obvious that Governor Polesmoker wanted to make all of Colorado into Denver.

The sales could be down because they are doing construction on the whole mall. You cant park anywhere, can barely catch the train, no free mall ride, and half the places are closed! The homeless are bad but thats not the reason

Of course the Mayor is not really fixing it. Look at L.A. as the Mayor there is recently addressing it and some other cities. Money is what is needed to provide housing. Well the city of Denver has the money. And so it requires action from the city however the Mayor is not acting other than purges, which fixes nothing and causes a lot of needless pain for those living on the streets. This is the same mayor who ran his campaign on housing for the homeless. 👎 👎 😛

The city of Denver has become disgusting. Thanks to the previous and current administration. Relaxed laws for drugs and misdemeanors as well as the personal recognizance laws outs these people when arrested are put right back out on the street. The mayor doesn’t give a 💩 about business and safety. We are paying more in taxes we need a report on what is being done besides lining your pockets. Change these laws now. I have news for everyone right now it seems and that is that the homelessness problem in this city that is in the headline here is OLDER than any business in Denver. Homelessness IS the oldest business in Denver. It was there before ANY of the businesses in question were and it's affected everyone the same over the years this isn't new or news.
