      I agree! I’ve had to stop watching and following so many MUA’s because they’re waaayyy too excessively “positive”. It’s fine to be goofy and happy and have fun, but it’s another thing to do nothing BUT be mushy and fake happy. Like we’re all human, it’s okay to have bad days and it’s alright to not feel good. It’s what makes us human. And that’s why I love Jaime.

      Because she's older than the average youtuber. Most young youtubers have a "fake it till you make it" attitude which is totally fine since that's what you do in any job, but it's so obvious when your personality is your selling point.
      Edit: I realize there are makeup youtubers like Tati who are old but fake as fck. But she pretty much grew up in rich people environment so that's the reason

      Just another reason I've disliked my dark brown (nearly black)eyes For as far back as I can even remember i hated them so my mom bought me a gorgeous pair of violet contact lenses when I turned 12 and I'm now in my mid 30s and still wear blue, violet or light green contacts and majority of my friends have zero idea what my natural color is. Even my husband did not know that my eye color was "fake " until 8 months into us dating. There is just something so pretty about light eyes. And this isn't a knock to people with brown eyes. Just mine lol

      @@alexandrasaadi7149 Are you using cream bronzer? I take a bit(Fenty Matchstix) just on the edges of my lips in a small line, then I blend it out with a dense brush in stippling motions. Buffing will drag the color all around. After that, if it's still not blended enough or looks too harsh, I dab over it with the excess foundation left on my sponge

    • @ashlimathews4712
      @ashlimathews4712 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Alexandra Saadi I use the wet n wild contour sticks as bronzer, I go right around my lips like I’m way over drawing them. I use 3 different sponges in my makeup application so the one I use for my bronzer I just bounce it out. Then I take my foundation sponge with whatever is left on it from my face and I go over my lips lightly again. It just blends it in a little bit more and takes away the mustache look. Mb use a lighter color as well since your mouth is more in the forefront of your face. Practice❤️❤️ I hope that my tricks will help

    Ah, I remember Milady back when I went to school also. 🤣 With your eye color, I see a very gray-blue -- a very murky cool blue. That said, I didn't feel like your eyes really popped and appeared more blue UNTIL you apply that blue-based red cream on your bottom lashes. Once you did that, it was like your eyes immediately got brighter and bluer. 🤩 Also, the way my edition of the Milady book explained the face shape thing (paraphrasing from several years ago), is that the oval face shape is what OUR EYES automatically perceive as the most ideal. It is the softest and "easiest" to look at because it is proportional, and the human eye likes proportionality (whether we know it or not). Proportional lengthwise in terms of distance from hairline of forehead to the occipital bone; distance from that same bone area to beneath the nose; and finally, distance from beneath the nose to chin. Then you have proportionality of the face (widthwise) which is determined based on the width of the shoulders. Anyway, I just didn't want people to assume that folks are being taught that oval is the right or correct face shape and all other shapes are wrong and should be changed. It is only explaining how our eyes see things, and how to correct a face shape if the client wants something on his or her face to appear different.

      @michelea2326 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@atunerfish we're talking about hoarding and the mentality of holding on to everything "just in case". It has nothing to do SES. You're not a store. I don't care how rich or poor you are. If you want to get rid of something, clean your house and purge shit you don't need or want or never use you should be able to do so without guilt. This isn't about deciding between necessities. Example, I some how accumulated 8 pie pans over the years. When I was cleaning my kitchen out and suggested to a friend that I wanted to get rid of all but one or two of them she told me to keep ALL of them "just in case I need them later". At what point will I just in case need 8 pie pans? I held on to all of them for a couple of years "just in case" and never used them. I just recently took all but two of them to the Goodwill because I don't need to keep an inventory of freaking pie pans and stuff I simply don't use. This is what I'm talking about...don't turn it into something else/something bigger than what it is. Hoarding mentality is toxic at any income level.

I've had a tough week and finding some of these older vids has really brightened the days in that week - especially like this, at 4am, when I have woken up and can't fall back to sleep. This was SO interesting and fun to watch and makes me want to play around more "by the rules" just to see how it works and what happens (I literally *JUST* told a friend who was asking for makeup tips on Discord after I posted a selfie of a fun look that my one biggest piece of advice is that "there are no rules" LOL). Thank you for always being so warm and welcoming and fun. Watching your videos legit often feels like I am on Facetime with a friend (that talks a lot more than I do while I mostly listen - MOSTLY - because I do laugh and talk back at certain points). This is getting too long and that's a common theme with my late-night-binge-watching-comments, so I'm gonna shut up now byeeee.

    You have so much talent. Everything looks good on you. I feel like when i wear lipstick, it looks like I’m trying too hard. And it never looks right. Like I’m not rocking it, I look like a clown, or a 90 y/o Gma, or something weird.

      It might help to put on a little more blush than you usually would! I always tend to feel like my lipstick washes out my blush and vice versa. It makes everything look more cohesive and balanced when you apply more blush the brighter your lip color is (to an extent of course)!

    I'm pretty sure my sister used this book, and I loved to look through it and kinda study it too! It was basically my first formal introduction to "real make up," so it made an impact on me. I still put my blush on how it directs and try to shape my lips. For a while I tried to "correct" my face into an oval, but now I just emphasize my faceshape- but I have the habit of analyzing others to see what their face shape is along with if they have a concave or convex profile.

    I absolutely LOVE the Maybelline Urban Dream Cover foundation, I literally use it everyday because it's SPF 50 AND has a "pollution protection" additive, but I think the coverage is anything BUT sheer. It's actually a very full coverage foundation, and it feels so good on my skin. I would highly recommend it to anyone that asked. O btw, I'm over 40, so I am dealing with laugh lines and frown lines and eye crinkles etc, and this foundation resists sinking into those lines. I tried the Cover Girl Simply Ageless, and the Maybelline blew it all the way out of the water.

    The whole ideal face shape being oval does sound odd but it does seem to flatter everyone when your face is contoured that way.

    I always love that you don't shy away from bright/intense colors and not just use the basics like taupe, tan, brown, cream. AND that you use all textures to your shadows (mattes, shimmers, metallic, etc) AND you use both cream and powder shadows. I'm still not the best at some things but at least now I have more of an understanding of where certain products are applied. My only really, REALLY difficulty that I can not seem to figure out is how to contour my nose!! UGH!! I just can't get it to look right EVER!! All noses are different shapes and sizes and some are more unique than others....I have no idea where I fall in those areas BUT I DO know that I have never gotten it to look right....like EVER! Not a joke....it never looks right! I don't know where I should be applying the darker color, or what color I should be using. Plus I noticed that many tutorials I've watched they all use it in different areas, some heavier in areas than others, some very minimal than others....and same goes for the highlighters....I have NO clue which highlighter color(s) is more suitable to my skin color....there's just soooooooo sooooo many of them out there! Lol!! One great thing I noticed....and this is the main reason I watch your tutorials more is because the foundation colors you use are the same as what I use so THAT is a huge plus because I just buy the color you're using in your video. But placement of certain products, like bronzer and highlighter, are the most difficult for me. I love your channel soooo much!🥰

    I've never heard another person, other than myself, say that they feel they have too much skin between the nose and lip. I know u kind of laughed when u said it. But it's a real thing. I even talked to a Dr about fixing it. Lol.

      Jessica hebb maybe a different person could give u better results? I have the same issue. But no knives in my face either. I think mine is more pronounced than Jamie’s too...I have a round face, so it seems more noticeable to me. But I’ve kinda started highlighting the top of my lip (rather than my Cupid’s bow), and jlo’s artist has sworn by the top lip contour for years. I’m going to have to try that. I’ve never had filler though....
