I've found WinCo's quality on produce, meat, and seafood to be far superior.
Yes, same here. I’m sure it varies depending on where you live, but the winco near us has the best!!
Absolutely true.
I like Winco because of the bulk food section and I can waste less plastic shopping there! Plus it is a nice company to support!
Yes!!
Hi Brittany, belated thanks for the upload. I'm new to the DFW area and they have winco here, I'll give it a shot :)
Congrats on your move. Let me know how you like it!
Walmart moves stuff around constantly and is routinely out of what I’m looking for. Winco is my favorite place to shop for food.
Yes- same! I shop winco when I only need food and Walmart when I need non food items. Thanks for sharing!!
so insightful thank you 😊
I'm so glad. Let me know which you prefer!
WinCo is the best, can't stand Walmart, their store is cluttered as are their shelves, also they are horrible to work for, the Walton Family is evil. While WinCo is employee owned, have great prices and one of the best bulk food sections ever.
Yes- I love winco! I do still shop at Walmart for some things, but shop at winco if they have what I need!!
I would love you to do this again! Great video
Thanks!! I’ll have to film an updated one!
What I'm finding myself needing is a shopping app that guides me to buy specific items from what store, selecting from a specific few stores... Menu options/filters, I guess. Allowing me to apply my full grocery list and some indicators to refer stores on each item
Sorry - I somehow missed this comment. I'm not aware of an app that does this. That doesn't mean there isn't one - I just haven't used one. But it's a great idea. I've just done enough shopping at my local stores so I know which one usually has the best prices on certain items. I'm sorry that's not very helpful for you. If you find an app that does this I'd love to know!
Well I work the night shift and do my grocery shopping between midnight and 6AM. Walmart closes at 11PM and Winco is 24/7. So, the cheaper groceries just happens to be the only place open when I need to shop.
You gotta do what you gotta do. I’m glad there’s a store open 24/7 for you…..I bet it’s not very crowded!!
@@BrittanyFlammerI have been there at midnight no one is there.
Excellent and very helpful video. Walmart has become a very expensive grocery store on many items. Although it may vary from region to region. There has been a very noticeable increase in prices, and its by the day it seems. It also is constantly out of products, and shelves bare at least in some locations. Walmart also is in the process of closing a number of stores nationwide. For instance Walmart closed all their locations in Portland, Oregon March 24. The shoplifting at these Portland stores was a disgrace, so I don't blame Walmart for closing them. I know I read there are some 30 locations being closed by April 30th. My guess Walmart will be closing alot more, so something is up at Walmart. Personally I can't stand Walmart and the way they operate their business. Overall I think Winco is cheaper than Walmart in 2023. Winco is also a much better and safer experience shopping at than Walmart.
Thanks so much for taking the time to add your experience!! It will be interesting to see what happens with Walmart!!
I prefer WinCo for my groceries and have one close to me. Sometimes I have to go to Walmart to get non-food stuff so I get my food while I am there. (save a trip)
Yes!!!! I alternate between the two depending on whether or not we need non food items!!!!
I work at WinCo and they take care of me. I do shop at Walmart for other things don't buy any of my groceries at Walmart.
Thanks for sharing!! It’s nice to get your input!!
What's it like working at WinCo?
In the city of California, Winco does charge for bad because it is mandatory in the state of California unless you have an EBT card
Makes sense! They’re free in the state of Utah
I mainly shop at Fry's and Winco Foods . Winco Foods in the Phoenix Metro is open 24 hrs
Yes - winco here is open 24 hours!
Interesting ❤
Ill go to winco more n check it out
I'd love to know your thoughts after you check it out.
Winco being employee-owned is enough for me to try it! I have to use my united healthcare medicare healthy food benefit card at walmart, but that's expected, tbh
Yes- I love the employee owned aspect. Let me know how you like it when you try it!!
@@BrittanyFlammer Will do! Probably will scout my local one this week to check budget feasibility. (In phoenix, which has been hit hard with inflation, so I do need to check in advance.)
Good luck!
Winco has a great deli, better prices, better store brand stuff, and overall variety. Love this store
Yes! It’s a great store!
I would shop at winco randomly in lakewood,California for coffee only I do love their coffee ☕️ at $6.98 a pound they a Verity selection brands to choose from I noticed the meat 🍖 and I saw they had ground lamb, and a 12 pound goose and a 10 pound ham the price for ham was $19.04 I did pick up on the goose I do love to shop when I'm available to shop
That's awesome!! Thanks for sharing your experience.
In general, Winco has better prices. Watch for the "green" price tags. Those are especially good. Beware of any Winco product. If they can manipulate/downgrade the quality/quantity of a product, they will. Winco has some of the lowest quality produce to be found. WalMart has some excellent produce at a competitive price. If you stick with name brands, Winco is a better value. It pays to pay attention to the prices and quality.
Thanks for sharing your input!!
I LOVE winco’s green tag specials - they have some great deals.
I think the produce varies by location. The store near us in California had terrible produce, but our store here has wonderful produce and sooo many more options than our Walmart.
It just depends on what we need - I do about half our shopping at Winco and half at Walmart.
Thanks for sharing!!
I find the produce at any store, except Walmart, to be superior.
The WalMart near me has very good quality produce at good prices. Winco produce is good if you get it during peak season. (They can't find crappy produce then!)
Smart & final is another place you get on some deal I was Fortunate to .05 oz cranberry drinks 48 cans for $11.15 regular price $22.00 that was last week I end up getting 3 cases
Wow. That's great. We don't have a Smart & Final near us, but that's awesome you do!!
Wish Winco was in my area.
I do love winco! I also love aldi, but we don’t have one in the area anymore since we’ve moved.
WinCo is definitely better, no question. Still interesting to see how they compare to walmart.
😃 I prefer winco for lots of things, but then prefer Walmart for other things (mostly items winco doesn’t carry) and grocery pickup.
Thanks for sharing your opinions!
And I don’t buy most things online it depends but if there’s things I can’t get in stores, I’ll buy online. I don’t want to. It’s probably because it’s not available to me and local stores.
Winco is far better by 300 miles. Their food cost less they are employee owned. They’re not owned by a union and I can get consistent prices. I love Winco been shopping there since I was like 22. I’m now 50.
What about plant based food prices compared?
Sorry I haven't responded sooner - I somehow missed this comment.
I didn't include any of those in the video...not intentionally, I just picked random items. In general I feel like winco is cheaper. I personally love the option to buy larger quantities there as well...but it might vary depending on what you're looking for. If you give me some specific items I could compare them for you.
@@BrittanyFlammer
IMPOSSIBLE or BEYOND MEAT BURGERS
GARDEIN PLANT BASSED FOOD brand
MORNING STAR
AMY'S food brand
Those are some brands on my pull list.
My go to places in my area for Vegetarian/Vegan options are:
Trader Joe's = fair prices good products
Whole Foods = over priced
Lidl & Aldi = limited stock great savings
Shop n Stop = great variety over priced.
Costco = limited options
Wal-Mart = fair prices & choice
Those are some
You should do a workers edition so it show cases how it really is to work there. Without them faking saying good things about winco. Please try to get the truth
Thank u
You're welcome. I hope it's helpful!!
@@BrittanyFlammer I did happy new years 🎉🎈✨️🎇🎆🎊
You too!!
walmart brand tp is the best. Milk from winco only lasts a week before it goes bad but at walmart it lasts like 3 weeks. i get get my salmon from albertsons or smiths because they actually fully clean, descale, make sure theres no bones. sometimes winco salmon has a bone or 3 and they dont even descale it at all. winco has super delicious bagels the best in the city (sadly its the only place that has good bagels at all here). winco deli selection is incredible they have in my opinion the best fried chicken and best grilled chicken pretty much in the whole big city where i live. they also sell whole filet mignons for cheap and yes they absolutely love how they have so many things you can get by the pound. super super awesome they do that. thats one of the best things about winco. winco is my favorite but i have to go to like 3 others for certain things.
True! Thanks for your input!
I definitely have my favorites from different stores. I love all of your thoughts/tips…sounds like you know your stuff. We live winco’s bagels too! What city do you live in??
Yes! I have some things I prefer from other stores, but don’t always like to go to more than one. I love that I can get everything at winco if I need to.
@@BrittanyFlammer ya i know. a lot of times i dont have the time or in the mood. but i try to do that and usually i do. u also have to consider gas driving around lol.
Yes!! I try to do my shopping at just 1 store- sometimes it’s worth it to pay a little more so I don’t have to go to another.
Thanks so much for your input!!
Walmart wants to charge you for self check out. I don’t use self check out so I’m kind of offended in a lot of ways and their food is nowhere near as good and their prices are too high. I shop at Winco.
I like WinCo!!!!
Me too. Thanks for sharing!
Winco all day
❤️ Thanks for sharing!!
WinCo? 1998 prices.
Ran total in head as unloaded basket and I over $50 every time. Still trained on Walmart prices.
WinCo garners more bang for the buck always
Yes!
Honestly not a great comparison. I shop at both and for sure winco is significantly cheaper. You should have compared more items, or made a grocery list or common items people are likely to buy and bought everything on the list from each store, and then compared the total price of each. With a little more planning these kinds of videos could be a lot better. Not to mention winco has much higher quality food.
Thanks for your input. Those are all good suggestions.
I actually filmed about 3 times as many items at winco, but Walmart was out of lots or else the items didn’t match (not the same size, etc..). Plus, I wanted to keep it short because most viewers only watch 3-4 minutes.
I think winco is definitely cheaper if they’ve got the generic brand…if it’s name brand it’s a 50-50 chance Walmart is cheaper where I live.
The produce also varies greatly from store to store. Winco’s produce is soo much better here I live, but I’ve been to other stores where it isn’t as good.
Basically, I think it varies depending on where you live and what you buy!
WinCo, hands down better. seems like even there employees are happier.
Yes - the employees at Winco do seem happier. That's always a good sign!!
I've found that pricing depends on what you purchase. I'm not shopping for many of their items that they show as being cheaper than a competitor.
As for bulk items, Winco bulk looks dicey to me, because I was looking at Romano cheese and that barrel has "stuff" in there that looked like fell off someone's jacket kind thing. There's nothing to stop a person from putting their entire hand or arm down into a barrel. I'm not sold on buying bulk from barrels.
As for the WinCo house brand, I'm saying Walmart does it better with Great Value but I know others may disagree.
Each time I go into a WinCo, their employees are very grouchy toward people. This leaves me uneasy.
As for their seafood counter, I watched them runout of crayfish and go to the bagged in frozen to get some, then restock their fresh and sell it at a higher price!
The store that I shop at has a disabled person working there who drools saliva over the produce. I refuse to purchase produce from there anymore. Bulk items as well. I do buy coffee beans in bulk, but a few times I've overflowed my bag which left me thinking they might just sweep up that overflow to return it to a coffee bin. The things I've seen, I just don't know and have little faith.
I can check other grocers prices online, but not WinCo, and Winco selects what they want known to be cheaper than at their competitors.
Overall, I'm picky on what I'll purchase from WinCo. I despise both types of their checkouts because I don't need to talk with them but more importantly, I don't care for their intentional grouchiness. Somethings very different inWinco that I never get at any other grocery store.
I appreciate all your comments and thoughts. As you said, it definitely depends on what you're purchasing. I'm sorry you have had a negative experience. I'm guessing some of that will be determined by the specific store. The produce at our WinCo store is SOOOO much better than the other grocery stores nearby, but obviously not where you are. Several others have commented that the employees at WinCo are happier than other stores where they live. So....who knows?
I'm glad you've figured out something that works for you! And I appreciate you sharing your thoughts/experiences.
@@BrittanyFlammer thank you for your response! It's probably because where I live, WinCo (there's just one) has located into an area where there's more crime than where the other grocery stores are located (where I shop and live). Maybe that is a Winco thing -- to be on the fringe of a dicey area of town so to reach all people. I do know that a lot of crime happens right in their own parking lot, and even an employee told me that people keep stealing the handbaskets, so it's likely more an unfortunate thing of their locating poorly (non residential, many stores with high crime).
Thank you!
The strawberries from winco get moldy fast
Better eat them fast!!
The winco where I live has awesome produce, but I’ve been at others that aren’t so good.
So you mean like they’re like Tesla and they don’t waste their money
Haha!
Winco has way cheaper meats and produce compared to Walmart *typo error 😂
Thanks for your input!
When it comes to the junk food processed food and junk I don't care about the prices I don't eat that garbage I only care about the healthy whole foods
It seems whenever two stores are compared and prices it's never comparing the real food healthy stuff
That's a good point.....I just randomly selected some things at the store...I think I might have let my 4 year old choose. I intentionally didn't include any produce or meat because their prices vary so much at the store based on the season.
Winco is great. Walmart is to high $$ on their prices.
Yes!
I still prefer walmart. WIncio is too far away. Walmart is still cheaper then most stores
😀 Yes! Glad it works for you.
@@BrittanyFlammer thanks.

Good to know!

Wait, you’re not covering what’s in the brand and by the way Winco is actually better but you’re not covering that by the way Walmart is crap
I love winco- I just wish it had more products, because there are just some things you can’t get there

Yeah but Walmart is starting to pay there employees more. Winco is slacking on that because they don’t care about there workers.
Good point. I don’t know much about winco pay/employees. I was just focusing on the shipping aspect of things.
Winco is majority cheaper
Definitely love cheaper prices!
Literally just used a credit card at Winco 🤦♂️
I tried it too my first time there!! And my husband has forgotten as well. You’re not the only one!!
This no longer represents a problem for me, as I've shredded all my credit cards
Me too. Lol. Oops
