I just purchased a Native Instruments A49 and have a new Windows 10- and Windows 11 asus motherboard custom-built tower pc, but when I link the A49 to a USB port it powers up for a second then fades out, locking it in a midi template for lack of power. Can I run a USB splitter from the USB power supply, then to a pc USB?
Great review! This controller seems great and I'm considering buying it, but I have one concern. I used to own Samson Carbon 61, very cheap, very basic controller but it had four different velocity curves, which was occasionally very relevant. In some virtual instruments, the 'soft' dynamic velocity curves worked horribly, because it was impossible to hit mid to high velocities without pounding on the keys (and even then 127 was out of reach). I've learned that Komplete Kontrol A49 has only one dynamic velocity curve and some users are experiencing issues caused by that. Have you encountered such issues? If so, does Komplete Kontrol software (and/or Maschine Essentials) have a way of affecting the velocity curve of the controller on the software side of things (I think FL Studio has something like that in the options menu for example, but I haven't used the NI software before). Your playing during the review didn't seem affected, but maybe you've encountered this issue later on? I'd hate to buy this controller just to return it because of that flaw. I'd be really grateful if you could confirm that this single dynamic velocity curve works well. Thanks in advance!
I just bought the a49 because ei had this problem with the carbon. I get it tomorrow and I'm hoping that it fixes the velocity problem. I'm composing film music so I need to be bale to record expression in orchestral etc instruments
why does no click noise comes in your video when you push those buttons? You must have cleaned them out after recording, coz it is louder than I imagined or heard in some videos.
I would like to point that the A-Series has no support for changing its velocity curve, and the default one is terrible. You have to hammer the key to get full velocity, or use Fixed Velocity and always get full velocity notes. They do it to force you into buying the S-Series, which allows you to customize the curve. Think twice and search the forums if key sensitivity is important for you (it is for me, and unfortunately, I didn't find out about this before buying, otherwise I would have gone to another brand even though I like NI / KK products).

It was only after purchasing my A49 that I realised this is far from the case. Claiming that the keyboard has a semi-weighted action is utter rubbish (in fact it is a f*ing lie). In addition, the default action for the keyboard is so insensitive that when using the software bundle that ships with the controller, you literally have to hammer the keys to get any sound out of the thing at all. Despite the numerous posts/ protests on the NI support forum dating back two years, there is still no way of modifying the sensitivity curve of the keyboard. The only option is to switch the keyboard into synth mode each time you use it. Native Instruments tech support is by far the poorest I have ever come across for any product, period. That was my first and last purchase from them. My A49 controller is now in landfill, somewhere here in Australia.
What's exactly wrong with this keyboard, keys? ur personal disharmony using this device? I'm gonna purshase this one and i heard only splendid feedbacks in general including keys quality also.
I'm no pro piano player but i went into a music store and played on the Native keys and they were beautiful...I'm buying the 32 keyboard for my daughter in the hope she learns the keyboard...
I don't recommend purchasing any Native Instrument products. They don't offer any user support anymore, but even when they did it was abysmal. When they did have a support staff they all had horrible attitudes. I met one of the support staff at a party and we became friends. She told me all the support staff were that way because they all hated the company because they treated the employees like garbage. As far as this keyboard goes, there's no point in buying this keyboard with the screen being so small. The screen is useless. You will end up not using the screen and resort to using your computer monitor. There are plenty of other midi keyboards out there for a fraction of the price. You will be very unhappy with the way the keys feel as well. If you insist on buying it, I recommend buying it from a retailer like Guitar Center because they have a money back guarantee if you end up not liking it. Besides, Native Instruments synth instruments are out of date. You'd be better off investing in synth plugins like Serum. Do yourself a favor and call Native Instruments before purchasing to see if you can get through to anyone for support. I'll put $1000 on the table that it won't happen. You will regret ever purchasing anything from that company, I promise you that.
Not to detract from your argument, but if you're truly telling me to consider another product from another company (I've been eyeballing the KK S49 myself, not the A-series), could you at least recommend an alternative? Can you confidently tell me something else I can buy instead of an S49 that has the same features and setup? I have no brand loyalty to any company in particular, but I'm after something like the S49 that feels sturdy in construction and has decent feeling keys, and all the features of tapping into the software to select banks and libraries, with arp and chord support. I considered a Novation Launchkey, but upon further investigation, it is supposedly extremely cheap feeling, almost like a childs toy. I've yet to find an alternative to the S49 that I could purchase.
This midi keyboard has no midi in or out. Only usb. I found this out after buying it and I think it’s a way of forcing you to buy the s series. So terrible, I thought all midi keyboards had midi in or out. I feel scammed.
This keyboard looks way to large for the few controls it has. No drumpads etc. Whats up with all the empty real-estate? And it's thick also. You could have reduced the size of the keyboard with 1/3, easily. Nope, no-go for me. Same goes for the M32, if there were pads, I would have considered it.
