Sanjay C You are welcome! I can imagine the amount of work really well. Just the pro editing that you do is already a huge task. And that’s only a fraction of the work that you have to do to produce one video! Your work definitely shows passion. You deserve your success!
I currently have Arturia keylab Essential 49, and Nektar Impact LX49+, and of course the Maschine MK3 mini. I really am considering adding a 3rd keyboard the A25 for 2 reasons. 1. To travel and not bring my full size keyboard. 2. For the software! If you don't have Native Instruments...... who are you??? hahaha. I can't tell you how I literraly spit my coffee out and laughed so hard because I wasn't expecting that
Sanjay C I know I can’t backpack it, but I’ve fallen in love with Native Instruments and I’m proud of them. Getting this keyboard I will also get more software, and have better control of the software with the encoder.
I have been using Komplete Kontrol a61 for half a year by now, and I find it amazing. Absolutely great. No signs of getting less precise. I especially appreciate The Gentleman (its piano plugin), they did a great job designing it. It comes along with Ableton which also does what is needed to get some decent recordings.
I got Komplete A61 and yes, your pros and cons are absolute accurate. Clicky noise was so annoying after few weeks, that I've started to use mouse. I can confirm that quality and feel is amazing and software that Native Instruments provide for this controller is also stunning. The size was and still is the problem. While I'm using wide monitor (which has pretty big stabilizing foot) and Logitech G213 keyboard, there is literally minimum space to operate in that controller on my desk. And most of the creators, that has space problem will have to adjust their setup after choosing this product.
Just bought the NI A25 tonight, I haven’t had a chance to open it up yet, but I know it’s going to be great! Again, I can’t thank you enough for all your videos
do the keys still work or did the driver disappear like it did for me???? i made three dam tracks and now the keys are dead yet the transport and everything else works.... real stupid.... really disappointed....
Ah man you always have the best toys! Me and some other gear head friends of mine have been wondering about this keyboard, I'll have to pass this along to them. I'm surprised they didn't add a drum pad to this one though!
well said, JUST A TOYS, USELESS. in the video he shows that first knob controls dry-wet on Movmnt, ok, but for example what if i want to change the cut off? I mean, if i can't see (and this is it) wich is the phisical knob controlling the cut off (because knobs havent a dedicated little display as S-series MK1), THE ONLY WAY I HAVE IS TO TRY ALL THE 8 knobs till i find the cut-off. Am i clear? It's a total shame/deal breaker/worflow big slowdown. Imagine, u load an instrument and want to change the filter's decay: the only way to know wich keyb knob is assigned to that, IS TO TRY IT ALL!!! EVEY TIME u load a device! ...And to say all, is rather possible that specific parameter was never premapped, but u'll know only after wasting time checking all the knobs by clicking them ONE BY ONE. SAD. RIDICOLOUS!
I recently purchased the A49 controller and absolutely love it. I still find myself using the mouse, but it's good to know that I can do just about everything on the controller instead of using the mouse.
Thank you. This is helpful. I'm still on the fence about which size to get. I can see pros to having the small size and cons to it as well - all for the reasons you've mentioned. I like how you show different things the keyboard controller can do. I've been trying to find that out and I appreciate there was some info on that here.
Again Sanjay, your advice has steered me to money well spent. I have the space and now am a happy owner of the A49. Its an absolutely incredible product for the price. I think you could have even highlighted how much more advanced tecnologically this unit is compared to others in the price range, but great first look!! again, thanks. I'm also having great fun with the midi out in my DAW. You can record all the arps and chords into a midi channel and control anything you desire. Again, WOW this thing is very very adaptable, productive and great quality. (not a sponser :p)
So happy to hear that you are happy with your purchase. There is so much more you can do with these keyboards. I'm going to make some more videos with them in the future.
I'm unsure about getting the A49 or the Keylab essential 49. What would you consider technologically advanced compared to other unit?

What I did was buy a standard basic 88 key midi board. Bought the A25 for my NI stuff, and the Arturia Keylab Mini for my Arturia products. It's a really unique setup. I don't have a tonne of room and having this flexibility is really amazing.
Honestly, I have had zero problems browsing and applying the Analog Dreams synth pack with my Keylab49. But, NI comes with some sweet instruments, and their controllers are really nice. Especially for $160.. The 25 key versions the perfect size for a bass synth.
I like that there are options to the number of keys, the price points are decent as well for someone on a tight budget. Being an artist on a budget with a family and priorities isn't easy. ✌😔
Well done and well analysed: Who wants to buy this thing? Me, because I got a 49 keys controller only with midi - which is to big for "just doing a quick thing" and I got NI Komplete Ulimate ... and controlling parameters is great now - and this is really a well build unit. But I'm looking for videos about this little thing - in Maschine (which I also have) this is easy, but need to get it working in Reaper for the plugins. Anyhow ... great video, because I learned here what you can do with the wheel/knob on the right ... and me, dumb ass ... I didn't realise the knobs react when touched and then show on the display --> great hint. So thanks very much for this video and I'm fully with you: Great unit, not for a piano player - but if you gut NI Komplete ... so cool thing! Thanks a lot!
What solution will work if you want to turn your piano keyboard into a full midi controller (with wheels, knobs, but also multiple zones configurations). Will this A25 do the trick?

I always knew the Native Instrument A25 felt good on my hands, but the other day I grazed my fingers over the keyboard, and it was kinda rounded off in a good way. I did the same to my Arturia and nothing, and also my Nektar and nothing. Native Instruments are like Lays potato chips, you can’t just have just 1 in this case, I have the Mashine Mk3 mikro, and the A25, and upgraded to 12,I can’t get enough of it!!
If you dont have Native Instruments Software but still wanna select presets and plugins with a hardware controller then maybe a Keyboard that comes with Akai VIP would also be an option (for example: M-Audio CTRL49 or the Akai Advance 49). However with Akai VIP Software it's the same license activation bullshit as with Native Instruments Software.
I'm mainly looking to use this as a MIDI controller, for construction of bass lines, background synth, stuff like that. Would you recommend this particular keyboard? Thanks!
Yes, but if you're not a trained pianist, you won't need the full-size keys. You got save some money by going with the Native Instruments M32 keyboard.
I just want to control Abelton Live with it. I'd have a full size keyboard off to the side. I'd also use it to trigger various hardware synths too I guess... good for that?
I've been pouring over these videos of yours trying to decide.... please clarify: will the Komplete Control A-series integrate well with Analog Lab? I have a 1st gen minilab where the knobs never worked well and it left a bad taste in my moth as far as trusting the integration from Arturia with software... I still love Analog Lab and if it works well with Komplete Kontrol that sounds like a win win. Please advise
Yes, it will work with Analog Lab. You will need to setup Analog Lab once. You can setup a custom MIDI mapping in Analog Lab by clicking the midi setup button in it.
The A25 has really really good keys compared to other keyboards in this price range. I prefer its keys compared to the Arturia Essential and Novation Launchkey series
I'm considering this because it's a 25-key keyboard with full sized keys. I do have Native Instruments but I don't really care to use this specifically for them (nor will I use Komplete). In this case, would you still recommend it? I don't like most of the other 25-key KBs because they have mini or micro keys. I already have a full sized Casio, and am just looking for something smaller to fit on my desk.
It is June 2020. I will likely get an A49 later this summer. I hope to use one USB port on my Windows 10 PC to connect a USB interface, and another one to Konnect a Komplete Kontrol A49...:) Hope that dual USB works fine on Cakewalk....
Hey Sanjay. I guess it's totally possible to use one or more of the rotator knobs to assign them as free midi controller to record automations of any parameter on any track?
Hi, I was wondering if you know why my A49 keyboard works fully as a stand alone midi controller inside Komplete kontrol, but not any of the transport parameters in Logic X.? thank you in advance. cheers!
So do you need to work inside the KK interface when making music to get the full user friendly experience? What if your DAW is Ableton or Logic, what are the limitations or loss of user friendliness that happens then?
Sorry for the stupid question, but can I use this MIDI keyboard to control plugs that are not from NI? Or can this device only be used for in-house products?
Great vid Sunjay! I'm considering buying a NI A49, but not really for it's integration with NI plugins (I don't have any). I'm mainly looking for a master keyboard with a good and durable keybed...my Arturia Keylab49 keys keep popping up! Would the NI A49 be a good choice for the build quality alone?
I would like to point that the A-Series has no support for changing its velocity curve, and the default one is terrible. You have to hammer the key to get full velocity, or use Fixed Velocity and always get full velocity notes. They do it to force you into buying the S-Series, which allows you to customize the curve. Think twice and search the forums if key sensitivity is important for you (it is for me, and unfortunately, I didn't find out about this before buying, otherwise I would have gone to another brand even though I like NI / KK products).
I was about to get the A49, but then I saw that a used S49 MKI cost about the same in my area. With 8 screens and light guide, wich is really helpful when u use Kontakt for the different layers, articulation etc.
Nice review..is their different beats and sounds etc..not only synth.. and can i play this keyboard at the same time has using virtual dj..on same laptop?? tks
Yes, it can control other plugins, automatically if they are NKS compatible. If they are not, you will need to set it up manually. It does not come with Diva.
Should I take m32 or a25? Or any other midi controller? Beginner to midi keyboard, use to compose music, mainly use for drum and synth stuff, composing gospel music
The A25 is awesome for sure. But if you need drum pads, you may want to check out a few others. Watch my video here: th-cam.com/video/OXDRWwc5pUs/w-d-xo.html
The M32 will keep it simple. I think that’s a good purchase for beginners. Also consider some other keyboard options: th-cam.com/video/kG63uDHGyiQ/w-d-xo.html

@@MisterJonty Hi, could you share your experience with the KK keyboard and Reaper? Hey Adam. I used some cheap lighting for this video. My camera is the Panasonic GH5 and a Panasonic 20mm 1.7 lens. Great combo. The cheaper G85 is just as good
I love the way it integrates with Native instruments. I'm just checking if you have the same level of control when you're using say Logic Pro X own VST or effects. Can you use it in a similar way?
So are you saying I can use the presets, logics own sound library and VST with Kontrol A25 as well as native instruments library. That would be awesome. Would I need to assign the knobs and buttons?

If you dont have Native Instruments Software but still wanna select presets and plugins with a hardware controller then maybe a Keyboard that comes with Akai VIP would also be an option (for example: M-Audio CTRL49 or the Akai Advance 49).
However with Akai VIP Software it's the same license activation bullshit as with Native Instruments Software.
Can I also change these presents and have these knobs on the machine Mikro?
would this work on a macbook pro max computer ? m3 max chip ? please help
@@SanjayC lol i havent had one piano session and i learned by doing i dont know what i am doing bit i know how to jam on which scale xD
Honest feedback plse on NI sounds compare to AKai sounds ???
I just want to control Abelton Live with it. I'd have a full size keyboard off to the side. I'd also use it to trigger various hardware synths too I guess... good for that?
Hi, does it have mini keys or normal keys?
I've been pouring over these videos of yours trying to decide.... please clarify: will the Komplete Control A-series integrate well with Analog Lab? I have a 1st gen minilab where the knobs never worked well and it left a bad taste in my moth as far as trusting the integration from Arturia with software... I still love Analog Lab and if it works well with Komplete Kontrol that sounds like a win win. Please advise
Yes, it will work with Analog Lab. You will need to setup Analog Lab once. You can setup a custom MIDI mapping in Analog Lab by clicking the midi setup button in it.
Does Komplete a49 have touch response or velocity in keys?
Which one has thr best keys? You mentioned Alesis is the best in the comparison of mini ones
The A25 has really really good keys compared to other keyboards in this price range. I prefer its keys compared to the Arturia Essential and Novation Launchkey series
Hi , thank you for your videos. About which novation do you talking about @ 6:53 ?
Check out Novation's SL MKiii
Thank you @@SanjayC ! arf... no 25keys and really expensive.
whats the point if a „pro“ controller without faders
Just got it. How do Yalu update the firmware
excellent video!!
Build quality is definitely good, but the integration with NI plugins is the main selling point in my opinion.
What software u used in video?
I used Komplete Kontrol software in Ableton Live
@@SanjayC ok. Thats included or buy in addition to a25?
I would like to point that the A-Series has no support for changing its velocity curve, and the default one is terrible. You have to hammer the key to get full velocity, or use Fixed Velocity and always get full velocity notes. They do it to force you into buying the S-Series, which allows you to customize the curve. Think twice and search the forums if key sensitivity is important for you (it is for me, and unfortunately, I didn't find out about this before buying, otherwise I would have gone to another brand even though I like NI / KK products).
What would you recommend then?
I could ve employed it with ableton lite or any other daw customizing the velocity mapping in-daw
Still sux out of the box gho
I have A25 sitting on my desk. 37 videos and reading all the manuals, I still dont know how to use it. Any videos u know of for pre-beginners?
I was about to get the A49, but then I saw that a used S49 MKI cost about the same in my area. With 8 screens and light guide, wich is really helpful when u use Kontakt for the different layers, articulation etc.
Yeah, the screens are nice!
Nice review..is their different beats and sounds etc..not only synth.. and can i play this keyboard at the same time has using virtual dj..on same laptop?? tks
Yes for sure
It can control other plugins from othet brands? Also, it comes with diva vst?
Yes, it can control other plugins, automatically if they are NKS compatible. If they are not, you will need to set it up manually. It does not come with Diva.
I bought this today , enjoying the simple navigation , would like to know the analog dreams preset u were using in the intro.
Great video . So this would be a good controller for all plugins as well as if I plan on getting the arturia v collection?
Is it only for Native Instruments?
Im new to Producing music and im not sure which unit to buy the M32 or A25. Im not a pianist I just want to keep it simple and compose music.
The M32 will keep it simple. I think that’s a good purchase for beginners. Also consider some other keyboard options: th-cam.com/video/kG63uDHGyiQ/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the video! I plan on getting the 49 key version. Do you think Komplete 12 Select is good for starting out?
It’s definitely a good start. It will keep you busy for a long time.
Sanjay C thanks!!!
in the video he shows that first knob controls dry-wet on Movmnt, ok, but for example what if i want to change the cut off? SAD. RIDICOLOUS!
Hey, so does all Komplete Kontrols comes with the Native instrument plugins colection, right?
Can you change key velocity you really have to press the keys hard
the komplete kontrol software shows up as demo for me.. what's up with that?
Does the KK A25 have aftertouch?
What about the A25 with non-NI plugins, whether NKS-enabled or not? How married to the ecosystem is this keyboard?
Hi Sanjay, great review thank you, just about to hit the purchase button for the 61, does this integrate well with reaper?
I dont' think it has a specific template for Reaper, but you should be able to get the basic DAW controls working.
@@SanjayC Hi Sanjay, Ive just bought it anyway, installed it, but having problems with Kontact software, all instruments are in Demo despite full versions purchased and activated, registered product and software, love the feel, anyway I'm on the native Ins forum trying to get a solution. I'll get there thank you, have a great day and thanks for the quick reply.
@@MisterJonty Hi, could you share your experience with the KK keyboard and Reaper? I'm in the market for my first keyboard, and currently KK (A61 or S49 - still on the fence with a given price difference) is the top candidate, but I'm a bit concerned with how it works with Reaper, does it allow to use all features? Thanks!
Great video. What lighting are you using for your video mate? + camera and lens?
Yes, absolutely! All Komplete Kontrol features are the same :)
So are you saying I can use the presets, logics own sound library and VST with Kontrol A25 as well as native instruments library. That would be awesome. Would I need to assign the knobs and buttons?
if i have the alesis v49 and i buy the mk3 komplete 12 ill be about to use the midi to control the software plus what are the diffences from komplete to ultimate ?
Komplete ultimate just comes with more plugin instruments and effects.
Hi there, do you think this is a better buy than the minilab 2, are the keys for example thát better?
The keys are much better on the A25.
Why i should upgrade from Mk1 to Mk2?
There is no Mk2
