Rumblefin yup. I think they did switch him out, when Doug moved to Disney. So I don’t blame him. I think he said Fry is basically his voice at 20 years old.
Great advice on being fearless, you have to push a lot harder because you'll always sound much 'bigger' in your head. Also, not pausing enough, a lot of us feel like we're moving way slower in our heads than we really are.. Also as every good voice actor knows, a flawed impression is now your own brand new character voice you can use.

Also i agree with your point, flawed impressions can help you find your own tone, finding new voices is part of the fun, you will be surprised of how many voices can come out of you if you just let yourself be silly for a while.

@@asuraXTC I mean, Lamar is definately one of the best and definately in the same league as west and blanc but the only reason I say west is the modern blanc is he's literally done half of mel blanc's voices in loonytoons since the 90's and was discovered by calling into radio shows doing blanc impressions. On top of that he did 4 major and very different voices in Futurama though both he and Lamar have done a lot of characters in futurama over the years. But yeah, lamar is an absolute legend as well. Him, west, and Tara Reid are some of my favorite all time voice actors.
@@frankiehands he definitely defined the art and created many techniques modern artists use. He is and always will be the GOAT. but he did use physical tricks and even used messing with slowing down and speeding up tape to produce some of his voices which we do digitally these days. The best voice actors these days have hundreds of voice credits because they follow Mel's footsteps.
Hearing him speak, I remember Tom Kenny saying people said they sound alike. I would LOVE to see Tom try Billy's characters and vice versa :P Theyre both great people and super talented.. it would be a great show to watch!

The guy who did Zoidberg was really impressive! I wish I would hear about these videos. I would love to do my impressions. Billy West is my main inspiration on my impressions. I have many characters that I have created. I worked at a Guitar Center for a few years and a co-worker and I were going to create a cartoon about our experiences with the many regulars that came in our store. We went as far as having my wife draw out characters and we had the voices. We just couldn't find someone to create the cartoon. I really wish we made it though. We had some crazy people come into the store that we embraced and spent a lot of time creating.

Doug was my favorite cartoon as a kid. I read the books, watched the movie, and of course, rocked out to The Beets. 😂 I need mo allowance!!🤘 He was me and I was him, so relatable.
Billy is so awesome! I was first aware of his voices on The Rock of Boston WBCN’s The Big Mattress with Charles Laquidara in the 80s& 90s! Then of course Ren & Stimpy, but did you know Billy’s Popeye the Sailor in The Quest for Pappy, a computer animated video first broadcast on Fox then went to DVD in 2004? Great example of Billy’s vocal control.
