    I’ve been using this similar lift for 6 years now and works great. I have the castor setup with metal wheels and I have spun the lift with a 4500 pound car on it alone in our shop. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase it again! We also installed it ourselves. Two people are needed to raise the posts. The runways are easily positioned with a standard cherry picker and straps. Total setup time was 5 hours without beer! Nice review!

    • @capitalexotics
      @capitalexotics หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was thinking of wall mounting it but, at least on mine, I have to hold down a bar to allow the lift to slip past the locks, so I’d literally have to mount it essentially in the same vicinity as it is mounted to the post - as my arms would have to hold the lowering arm and also hold down the lock safety release arm.
      Also, if it’s mounted to the wall you’re obviously stuck as to where you can move the lift if you need to get it out of the way.

    I own two 4-post lifts (making my 2-car garage a 4-car garage). I purchased both lifts myself (a Prolift and an Atlas - rated for 8,000 and 9,000 lbs respectively, but the cars I put on them weigh less than half of that). I built/installed both lifts myself, and it's not difficult. Yes- some of the parts are really heavy (the ramp with the hydraulic cylinder and sliding jacks required help to move, but once you get the parts up on wheel dollys or trolly jacks- you can move it around to position it for installation). The rest is relatively easy. If you build the lift, then you know how it works, and can maintain it yourself as well. If you have the space, and your floor can support the weight- one lift will pay for itself in a year or less compared to paying for a storage facility rental space (which where I live costs $300 and up per month).

    If you have the room to open up the ceiling it's definitely worth doing. I installed a 2 post in my garage with 9' ceiling height then modified just 6 trusses to a cambered design raising it to 12'. Huge difference my Durango can go up fully can walk under it the whole 9 yards. I don't have a finished ceiling so the cost wasn't bad around 6 hundred.

    Great video, I have a 4 post lift for my 911 and this would have been extremely helpful when I was going about the process of getting the exact same setup as you (lift master, high lift rails, 4 poster etc).
    I have 129” of height but I still cannot get an SUV and the 911 on the lift at the same time. Which means I’m stuck with getting another sedan under 67” or 69”, I don’t remember exactly. Right now it’s an e90 BMW coupe - yes, first world problems… there’s just so many nice SUV’s vs sedans.
    You mentioned something about “boxing in” your garage ceiling. Can you tell me more about that process? I’ve never heard of this before.
    Would it be just engineering specs to modify the roof trusses in the garage?
    Thanks!

    • @itsreallyjakub
      @itsreallyjakub  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that’s exactly what boxing it in is. If you have the space above, you can modify the trusses and make a cathedral style ceiling rather than flat

    I would really recommend a 12 gauge extension cord, especially given current inrush demand of the lift motor.
