Ah yes, Paddington: prove that you can make a faithful live action adaption of a nostalgic childrens classic without pandering and sacrificing what made it great. The other adaption being Speed Racer.
It's a charming story that doesn't rely on the typical loud obnoxious gross out jokes of a lot of kids films, in fact, the one gross out scene didn't get a giggle out of the kids at the screening I was at. It's a shame that the upcoming Peter Rabbit looks like it learnt nothing from this one.
Modern kids films need to be more like Paddington and less like Smurfs, Peter Rabbit, etc. I really can't stand these adaptations that add gross out gags and immediately dated references.
The enthusiasm for bringing Paddington to the big screen was one drawn from pure love for the brand. There was little qualm expressed about how the Paddington stories would hold up as a feature, unlike with other cases such as how to make Peter Rabbit - a premise confined to one particular historic context - fit in a 21st century environment. That shows how decent intentions can be bogged down by questions tied to restrictions with the source material. Samuel F.

What a Heartbreaking Story I`m from Germany and only saw paddington Bear in small parts. This is so cute I hope that the movie is also shown in my Country.
Thank you for this thought provoking vid. Paddington is such an icon of untainted goodheartedness. He has been taught to have civility & respect--sadly, qualities almost lost from our current day selfish culture. I am enjoying these now even more than when I read them to my child years ago!
