Judging by how Fate talks in the trailers, I don’t think he’s even really going to be *trying* to flat out beat Black Adam. He sounds like he’s more trying to convince him and shift his perspective so he can fulfill his world saving destiny. Might be a decent way of ensuring The Rock gets his soloing superheroes ego boost without nerfing Fate into the ground.

But that's the problem. Overpowered characters become very difficult to write. Even look in the comics. Doctor Fate really only shows up when there's a huge event going on. Dr. Fate is literally one of the most powerful characters in the DC universe, yet people highly underestimate him, and he is highly underrated. I'm glad he is going to be introduced into the new upcoming Black Adam movie.
The powers that Dr Fate was showing in the movie where parlor tricks compared to what he's done in the comics. he could have literally teleported any of his enemies to a whole Separate dimension and not even had to have fought them. That's how powerful he is. That's just if he decides to take the nonviolent route.

Dr. Fate is a character that knows when to loose and when to defeat his opponent. It’s not that he can’t beat his opponent, but for the greater good or the best outcome, he will either defeat or let his opponent defeat him. Edit: I’m not saying he’s invincible, but he is ludicrously powerful.
I was introduced to the doctor from the DCAU and was interested in him ever since. I tried finding some comics about him but didn't have much luck. how you described him sounds a lot like how he was in Injustice 2 and I dig it, if its for the best outcome he'll ultimately lose for the greater good. He's not a powerhouse that has to 'win' every time. and I did love his portrayal in Black Adam so much i wish this was his movie instead. However he does make a good supporting character considering how powerful he is.
I think it'd be creative for the movie version of Dr. Fate to have conditions to meet. What I have in mind is that he'll be able to use his magic freely but only a little bit. If he wants to use all of it then he would have to pass control to Nabu with the risk of not getting it back. This would make it so that his strength and public view isn't changed much but also make it reasonable for Black Adam to fight him well. They probably won't do that tho.

Well in the movie Kent Nelson gets killed off in a contrived meaningless sacrifice and apparently there were reshoots for this movie so my theory is the rock saw that ppl were watching this movie for dr fate and him only and he decided to include a scene where fate dies 😐
100% agree with you there is no way that Black Adam could ever defeat Dr fate. Dr Fate is going to get nerfed the only reason why Black Adam would stand a chance or even defeat him is because he has the plot armor of The Rock
But that is why Dr. Fate shouldn't have even been in the movie.. There is no way to show the full extent of his powers and still have Black Adam be a match for him. Fate needs his own solo film. Because he doesn't fit on this team.

Black adam is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Johnson did a bada$$ job portraying the character. Very sad what happened to dr fate, I was pretty excited for him as well! Brosnan is an amazing actor
In short: Doctor Fate hangs with The Spectre, a.k.a DC Comics strongest character period, not counting The Presence of course as he is literally god. If Doctor Fate is on par with that level of omnipotent power? than it's no question. And that's the kind of power i want to see him use in the DCEU... this is the "Defender of Cosmic Order" we're talking about, i don't want him to be downplayed at all.

I don't see it, Constantine is way to chaotic, loose and free. He'd never join with a Lord of order, he has trouble even working with them. They're good poler opposites though, both on the side of good just with different methods.
I always put Dr. Fate on par with Ghost Rider. The being themselves are pretty much damn near unbeatable. The thing is, they need a human avatar to channel their powers through. That's all. If these Cosmic Beings could be released without human vessels, I don't think either one could truly be taken down, out right.

I just watched the Black Adam movie and it kind of pissed me off how unbelievably hard Dr. Fate got nerfed. Fate is god-level being and could quite easily defeat Black Adam all on his own.
Intentionally losing doesn't mean you are weaker. Marvel's SS covered this during their first fight with thanos. Fate makes choices based upon the greater good, the wearer of the helmet is sadly expendable.
I’d hope for balance. To prove a point made in the video, Black Adam resisted telepathy from Dr. Fate and laughed at him, check his how powerful episode. Hence the right circumstances. The studio wouldn’t have to downgrade Fate’s power either, just setup the right circumstances.
Nice video and great points on Dr.Fate, who is one of the most powerful beings is all of 'comicdom' and casting Pierce Brosnan in the role was an excellent choice too. I really hope Black Adam makes money and look foreword to seeing the character bumping heads with Superman as well as Shazam! in future movies.

Black Adam has taken on the Justice League, JSA, and Teen Titans at the same time. Also Black Adam flew through Spectre’s head. I think these are crucial in understanding Black Adam is pretty OP. Now I’m not saying Dr.Fate isn’t but I think the fight would be more even than we think. I’d say it really just depends on the writer. Dr. Fate is strong but if I’m not mistaken Black Adam also received some type of power boost from Nobu as well as one of the gods gives him some magic immunity. I think this fight is 50/50…. IMO I should add that Superman Batman and Wonder Woman were missing from that fight but still an impressive feat.
That spectre wasn't amped up .. But like a Decoy .. Fate just stalemated An Amped Up version of Spectre which has all the magic combined.. Fate could have won , but He let spectre kill him

Yeah, the good Doctor would probably dogwalk Black Adam. But I think Black Adam is the one who's been nerfed. He has the abilities of several literal gods, in addition to a killer instinct, so, in my opinion, he should be 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 clapping everyone, short of maybe Darkseid or someone with a similar level of power. 🤔 But power scaling has always come down to the writers.
**Spoilers** They did Doctor Fate Dirty, he was heavily nerfed & killed off in his introduction movie, this movie was just another "the rock playing a character that is just big & strong" it helped expand the DCEU but mostly everyone is giving it a 7/10 which I very agree with
😂...Dr Fate was doing so many spells in the movie, was calm and collected the whole time and was the reason BA was released from his prison. The Rock played a character who isn't just big and strong. Black Adam has enhanced intelligence, lightning powers, super speed, and is dedicated to protecting the people of Khandaq and those people worship him as a God. That's very different than being a big strong guy. This is 8.75/10, don't nitpick a good movie.

Even if the Rock has a contract there's no way in hell his Black Adam character goes undefeated in every DC movie fight. He barely defeated Dr. Fate and needed Hawkman's help to defeat Sabacc. Steve Rogers isn't worshipped as a God. He also can't shoot lightning from his fingertips. Rogers is viewed as a hero of history in the US like George Washington or Abraham Lincoln. So it's obvious you're nitpicking the movie to pieces.
To be fair to the Spectre, he was without a host in those occasions and/or was manipulated by other rogue fallen angels (Asmodel and Eclipso). As the Wrath of God, The capital G creator and true supreme being, he’s actually proven himself more powerful than Fate/Nabu at his best many, many times. He killed the Wizard Shazam and Nabu in that fight. I do hope he gets to be in more stories outside comics too, but hopefully they do him justice more than Fate, who’s definitely being nerfed. He’s also a founding member of the JSA after all.

I just watched the Black Adam movie and it kind of pissed me off how unbelievably hard Dr. Fate got nerfed. Fate is god-level being and could quite easily defeat Black Adam all on his own.

Intentionally losing doesn't mean you are weaker. Marvel's SS covered this during their first fight with thanos. Fate makes choices based upon the greater good, the wearer of the helmet is sadly expendable.
I’d hope for balance. To prove a point made in the video, Black Adam resisted telepathy from Dr. Fate and laughed at him, check his how powerful episode. Hence the right circumstances. The studio wouldn’t have to downgrade Fate’s power either, just setup the right circumstances.

I really hope Black Adam makes money and look foreword to seeing the character bumping heads with Superman as well as Shazam! in future movies.
They already have fought in the JSA early issues and Fate couldn't stop Adam matter of fact Fate needed to go back in time just to channel his shazam lightning bolt to depower Adam

Black Adam has taken on the Justice League, JSA, and Teen Titans at the same time. Also Black Adam flew through Spectre’s head. I think these are crucial in understanding Black Adam is pretty OP. Now I’m not saying Dr.Fate isn’t but I think the fight would be more even than we think. I’d say it really just depends on the writer. Dr. Fate is strong but if I’m not mistaken Black Adam also received some type of power boost from Nobu as well as one of the gods gives him some magic immunity. I think this fight is 50/50…. IMO
I should add that Superman Batman and Wonder Woman were missing from that fight but still an impressive feat.

Yeah, the good Doctor would probably dogwalk Black Adam. But I think Black Adam is the one who's been nerfed. He has the abilities of several literal gods, in addition to a killer instinct, so, in my opinion, he should be 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 clapping everyone, short of maybe Darkseid or someone with a similar level of power. 🤔 But power scaling has always come down to the writers.

They did Doctor Fate Dirty, he was heavily nerfed & killed off in his introduction movie, this movie was just another "the rock playing a character that is just big & strong" it helped expand the DCEU but mostly everyone is giving it a 7/10 which I very agree with
😂...Dr Fate was doing so many spells in the movie, was calm and collected the whole time and was the reason BA was released from his prison. The Rock played a character who isn't just big and strong. Black Adam has enhanced intelligence, lightning powers, super speed, and is dedicated to protecting the people of Khandaq and those people worship him as a God. That's very different than being a big strong guy.
This is 8.75/10, don't nitpick a good movie.

Black Adam was disoriented from being awoken from his tomb. Therefore he didn't speak much at first. Halfway through the movie he becomes a sarcastic a hole that argues with the JSA about how to keep people safe. I guess you fell asleep during those scenes. 😂.
Even if the Rock has a contract there's no way in hell his Black Adam character goes undefeated in every DC movie fight.
He barely defeated Dr. Fate and needed Hawkman's help to defeat Sabacc.
Steve Rogers isn't worshipped as a God. He also can't shoot lightning from his fingertips. Rogers is viewed as a hero of history in the US like George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.

To be fair to the Spectre, he was without a host in those occasions and/or was manipulated by other rogue fallen angels (Asmodel and Eclipso).
As the Wrath of God, The capital G creator and true supreme being, he’s actually proven himself more powerful than Fate/Nabu at his best many, many times. He killed the Wizard Shazam and Nabu in that fight.
I do hope he gets to be in more stories outside comics too, but hopefully they do him justice more than Fate, who’s definitely being nerfed. He’s also a founding member of the JSA after all.
